We ALL have good rounds and bad but that is part of life. Don’t stay away, stay accountable. We don’t judge, we support.-Jpv,2/13/19
What we need to succeed is a sustainable way of eating, not a DIET we go on and off.
People say keto/LCHF isn’t sustainable. I’ve been doing it for over 4.5 years with amazing results!
This is NOT A DIET. It’s a LIFESTYLE.

3/18 173.4 I'm hoping for a whoosh this round to break out of the 170s. But that's just a hope— in terms of goals that are within my control, I'd like to take four forest walks this round, which I'll denote with an *
3/19 174.0 Booo. Okay. Fine.
3/20 * 173.2 Back to my starting weight for this round. I might be eating a bit too few calories lately? Around 1200-1300, which MFP gave me, but that's what I did previously to lose and that time, I was starting off 20 lbs lighter. Not sure if I should try to do some calorie cycling...in other news, got my first forest walk in yesterday!
3/21 *172.3 Did a little walk by the bay yesterday, went over on my sugar limit, but woke up to this nice surprise on the scale! If I can hover around 172 this round, I'll be happy. Closer and closer to the 160s. Which is still miles from where I want to be, but it's so much better than where I started!

THERE ARE NO QUICK FIXES OR SHORTCUTS to achieving permanent change.
REMINDERS: One or two thoughts which might give heart to some of you.- Daily weight fluctuations are normal, and can be as much as 2 lbs a day for no apparent reason.
- A general downward trend is what we are looking for.
- Eating out can cause apparent weight gain because of high sodium levels, but usually goes quickly. Drinking extra water helps with this.
- The human body does not react instantly to what we do to it. Sometimes it can take several days to see results.
- Plateaus are a normal part of the process. The body is consolidating and adapting to your new way of eating/exercising.
- The closer you get to your goal weight, the more difficult it becomes to lose weight, as your body becomes more efficient at using what you feed it.
- When you exercise you build muscle, which takes up less space than fat, so use measurements as well as weight to assess your progress.
- Getting/Staying fit and healthy requires a lifestyle change for most people.

3/21 209.6 Swam, ate a few pieces of chocolate, but overall ate pretty well. Worried about adult son (26) who has headaches & dizziness. MRI suggests either a mass effect in his brain or scattered neurological abnormalities, that don't explain his symptoms, says the ER neurologist. Follow up with neurologist this Thursday, and then a cardiologist. Mystery to be unraveled. At least our choices to lose weight are in our control. I'm keeping my son in my prayers this day, as I choose to eat healthily, moderately & to try to organize my tax prep.

I know I did not eat 10,000 calories over maintenance to gain 3# of fat, so will just wait until it all clears out to see where I am really at. Also last round I was trying to eliminate dairy to see how it affects me and I didn't follow this when I was gone, so starting that again.

In 2005 Weighed under 400 lbs.
In 2007 lowest weight after surgery 302lbs
I joined MFP on March 27, 2010 weighing in at 388 pounds. I was re-gaining weight and stumbled up on it while trying to get back on track. I was determined never to see 400+ on that scale again for me.
I have been morbidly obese all my life. I have a lifetime of mental and physical scars from obesity. In October 2004 I had Gastric Bypass surgery. WLS (Weight Loss Surgery) was the best gift that I could and did give to myself.
Between 2008 and 2010 I gradually gained back 80 of almost 300 pounds lost initially after weight loss surgery. I never reached my goal weight of 200 pounds. I still managed to keep off over 65 percent of the weight I lost which is very good and I am very proud of my accomplishments since 2004. It has literally changed my life for the better on all levels. I am here to lose re-gained weight and to reach my initial goal weight. I am in no hurry. I am taking this one day at a time and I am in it for the long haul.
Surgery did not fix the head. It is a good tool and the best gift I have given to myself, but it was not the easy way out as many people think. Once the honeymoon period is over after the WLS it is up to the patient to keep the weight off.
On August 29, 2011-- I was admitted to Intensive Out Patient Eating Disorder Program to learn how to manage my binge eating disorder effectively. The program is wonderful indeed and will be instrumental in me reaching all of my goals. The focus of this program was how to eat and not diet. Weight loss was not a goal of the program. I actually gained 20 pounds in program. But I had to get thru a lot of stuff and my the time I was released I had stopped gaining. I was discharged from program on December 3, 2011.
My tool is still working for me today. My head is still the issue. SO the struggle continues. I will never beat myself up again. I fight the fine fight faithfully and positively everyday. Because that is what will get me to my goals one day. Even though it may not show up on the scale every day -- Everyday I make progress one way or another just by showing up, waking up and trying.
Giving up is not an option for me. Perseverance, Patience, & Positive thinking will help me reach my goals…… and the same is true for you too!! We have the power within us.12 -

3/19 / 170.6 / Lots of Netflix and reading here while I try to recover. The sun is out and the weather is beautiful so I'm bummed to be missing a great weekend. This too shall pass. Trying to get my body the time it needs to heal so I can hopefully get over this sooner rather than later.
3/20 / 167.4 / Still sick but that doesn't take away the shine that I reached my ultimate goal weight today that I set in early 2021. This weight represents the first time I've been in my normal BMI range in adulthood. I am so happy.
