In 2007 lowest weight after surgery 302lbs

My highest weight was 611 in 2003. Weight in 2004 before weight loss surgery was 580. Lowest weight after surgery was 302 in 2007. "I May Not Be Where I Want To Be, but I’m Not Where I Use To Be!"

I joined MFP on March 27, 2010, weighing in at 388 pounds. I was re-gaining weight and stumbled up on it while trying to get back on track. I was determined never to see 400+ on that scale again for me.

I have been morbidly obese all my life. I have a lifetime of mental and physical scars from obesity. In October 2004 I had Gastric Bypass surgery. WLS (Weight Loss Surgery) was the best gift that I could and did give to myself.

Between 2008 and 2010 I gradually gained back 80 of almost 300 pounds lost initially after weight loss surgery. I never reached my goal weight of 200 pounds. I still managed to keep off over 65 percent of the weight I lost which is very good and I am very proud of my accomplishments since 2004. It has literally changed my life for the better on all levels. I am here to lose re-gained weight and to reach my initial goal weight. I am in no hurry. I am taking this one day at a time and I am in it for the long haul.

Surgery did not fix the head. It is a good tool and the best gift I have given to myself, but it was not the easy way out as many people think. Once the honeymoon period is over after the WLS it is up to the patient to keep the weight off.

On August 29, 2011-- I was admitted to Intensive Outpatient Eating Disorder Program to learn how to manage my binge eating disorder effectively. The program is wonderful indeed and will be instrumental in me reaching all of my goals. The focus of this program was how to eat and not diet. Weight loss was not a goal of the program. I gained 20 pounds in program. But I had to get thru a lot of stuff and the time I was released I had stopped gaining. I was discharged from program on December 3, 2011.

My tool is still working for me today. My head is still the issue. SO, the struggle continues. I will never beat myself up again. I fight the fine fight faithfully and positively every day. Because that is what will get me to my goals one day. Even though it may not show up on the scale every day -- Every day I make progress one way or another just by showing up, waking up and trying.

Giving up is not an option for me. Perseverance, Patience, & Positive thinking will help me reach my goals…… and the same is true for you too!! We have the power within us.

5/19 - DNW - Feeling better today. Took the kiddo to school so BF could shower, shave, and get what I call "man-pretty" for his interview. Found out last night, he completely skipped over Interview #1. This is it. This interview (he's currently doing) will determine if he gets a job or not. He said it could take a month or two to find out. He also has a pre-screening interview this afternoon as well. I'm all prettied up for my interview (by pretty I mean I put on clothes that make me feel like I'm in a real interview) but it's only a phone call. Sometimes you just have to get ALL the way ready to really get in the mood and with me not feeling 100% quiiiite yet, I'm using every trick under the sun. Plan on using a power pose (think Superwoman pose: fists on hips, chest and chin held high and confident) to help get those feelings flowing through me as well. Also emailed a follow up for the local county job but the HR lady is out of office until Monday according to her auto-reply. All the things happening in this household! Hopefully some good news for both of us coming soon. Also hoping this fatigue fades before I have to resume commuting to current job. Anxiety about that is really hitting me, despite having 3 more days, plus rest of today, to recover and get rested. Also hoping tomorrow I'll feel good enough to weigh in and see where I'm at. Had normal dinner yesterday as well as my ham, cheese, spinach quiche for breakfast with no issue. I wouldn't be shocked or angry if I'm up. I know I may still be retaining water and that's okay. Body was in survival mode. Water was good yesterday and today I'm on track to get my 90oz as well.

    Previous Day's Comments
5/17 - Virtual chat with doc today. She said she's had minimum 3 patients within the last week with the flu and all of them have almost identical symptoms as me. I'm on her orders to stay home from work until Monday to avoid being contagious around others outside the household (which can't be helped). I'm feeling better today, mainly this afternoon. Finally able to eat something other than broth for lunch/afternoon snack. Not near enough food, but muuuuuch better than yesterday. Giving my poor body energy to fight is important but trying to keep it down is more important. Yesterday and this morning was tiny sips of water and barely over 30oz. A little better this afternoon, can take bigger sips more frequently without nausea. TMI is iffy, but that may be from the illness OR from dehydration (it's a thing with me as I've learned in this group over time!) or both. I'm not going to weigh until I feel a little more back to normal, especially regarding water intake vs salty broth intake (the bloat is reaaaaaaal over here). But I needed nutrients however I could get them and keep them in my system so I'm not even mad about it and that's more important than how I look. Fatigue isn't as bad as yesterday, but still a tad bit there. I've been feeling warmer than I normally do (not curled up with a hoodie and blanket but in just a tshirt and no blanket. Very unusual for me). In the last hour or two I've finally started feeling my normal cold and I'm content in a hoodie (but no blanket yet so still elevated temp feeling). Doc thinks I'm on the recovery side of it, thankfully, so I'm going to chug along with caring for my body and doing what it needs for recovery vs needs to lose weight/gain muscle. On a happier note, I have an initial interview on Thursday (hopefully I'll be recovered enough by then) for a remote job. Need to email the local one I really want to see if there's any update.
5/18 - I'm feeling a bit better. Now it's the same symptoms of dehydration, which it very likely is. I do have a little fatigue, but better every day so far. I've had breakfast already and no cramping or nausea so much improvement there. All the fuel for my body to fight this illness off! Chugging down water and think, as long as I don't start to feel worse, I'll hit my 90oz again today. BF got notified he moved on to interview #1 for the screening interview he had last week. He also had a screening interview this morning for another job. (both these jobs have screening, interview #1, interview #2. Must pass each one to move on to next). My interview tomorrow is just a screening interview, I'm not terribly worried about that one. It's remote, so it's an improvement, but it's not my "ideal" job. We shall see how it goes. Emailed the job I really wanted for the county and the HR lady is out of office until Monday so I imagine I won't hear anything until then since almost everything goes through HR (she does have an assistant, but I haven't communicated with said assistant previously). They've been looking for someone for this position for 3 years and I've gotten the furthest apparently. Wish I knew about it when I moved down here! Apparently they hadn't kept the posting up and that explains why I didn't see it when looking for jobs to move to Texas in the first place. This round was posted only 19 days ago. Ahhh, waiting game.

EDIT: BF just walked out and said the interviewer (director/potential new boss) wants to send him immediately to the panel interview with VPs of the division and his (director's) peers next week. Said he still has one other interview like what BF did today, but he already wants to move him forward. Whoooo!!!!! They want to close this out by June 1st and have somebody lined up to offer to in early June. Fingers crossed next week goes super well for BF!

@CamandJarvis - I hope your BF gets the job!

@deepwoodslady Donna, you need to share information with your friends and family that as a diabetic, carbs are NOT GOOD for you. Just sayin’! Love you my MFP friend!

@quiltingjaine Interestingly enough, the friend who brought the dinner over is also diabetic (but hers is in much better control). Family and friends do know. They consider it "a treat". Truly, it is me and all the in-between time that is making things go south for me. When I am on my game at home (90% of the time) my weight and A1C is much better. I can tolerate the temporary flux's from travel and treats. It's all on me. I've got to get back in the game. I just got so tired of the low carb foods I began to gag on them. But low carb is what works for me best, it's what is recommended for diabetics, and it certainly is what my doctor wants to see me doing. I can't wait to get my kitchen back. It is more helpful when I can batch cook, or cook at all. I miss using my stove and have been living by microwave, crock pot etc. since March. Weeks and weeks to go! Thanks for the push though. Low carb is the answer for me, for sure.
