What worked for you today?

Today my husband and I spent the day in the ER, do to my husband having an eye injury. He is fine now, but for two days we have been seeking answers and healing. Meanwhile, we sat and waited for roughly 9-10 hours in the last 2 days. During that time we didn't eat. At least today I took my water bottle. I am having a hard time cramming 1200 calories in the few hours left in the day. Somehow food in vending machines just doesn't look like food to me anymore.6

Absolutely love this post. I hope you enjoy many hours of playing 🙂4 -

I couldn't agree more. We are all so very different and need to do things that suit us personally 👍3 -
Allowing myself to have one piece of pizza and a large side salad. BTW, anyone here know how to evenly cut a pizza into 10ths? I'm only good with 8ths. Had to figure out the calculations for 1/8 of the pizza.
hahahahaha relatable....My husband likes a DiGiorno square thin crust...and sometimes when I think I want a piece I look at the box for serving size and calories ...square pizza calories are per 1/5th of a pie --why not 1/4????6 -
Having fresh fruit for a snack instead of chips or crackers.5

Being able to have a guilt free gin and tonic or 2 with all the exercise calories that I banked during the week. Weight loss doesn't have to mean not having a little of bit of what you fancy 😉4

having only healthy(ish) food around--and also learning better coping skills! last night I was really feeling it, trying to binge--so I had a second grilled chicken sandwich, ate the last "GoodPop" orange cream popsicle, ate some dark chocolate--and then took myself out for a walk before I could dig further. It was a good long walk, and by the time I got back I was feeling better AND my exercise calories covered my attempted binge.10

What worked for me was cooking with less oil. Those calories quickly add up. Saved about 400-600 calories everyday.7

What worked for me yesterday and today is doing my yoga first thing whether I feel like it or not. Hit go on the coffee maker, yoga, BowFlex, coffee/exercise bike time.
I’m a creature of habit so making healthy habits works for me.5 -
Had a rest day yesterday exercise wise and back on it this morning and feeling fabulous 💃💃💃
Weigh in day tomorrow so being good with the cals today 😇6 -
Having fresh strawberries growing in my yard! I am trying to get more fruit in. Got a bag of frozen fruit medley that I was trying to eat off and on. The blueberries were nice and sweet but the blackberries and strawberries were tart. I could eat it if I had to but I gladly trade up a cup of fruit medley for a cup of fresh sliced, still warm from the sun, strawberries!
I also learned this week that one slice of pizza had 475 calories and over 900mg in sodium! But a large salad, with crutons (4 tablespoons even!), low sodium dressing (Vidalia onion...so good!), an ounce of cheese (Irish, sharp cheddar), and three egg whites (fried. No oil) AND a cup of strawberry slices on the side gave me about as much calories as the slice of pizza with 300mg in sodium less! Which one is more filling? A large salad and cup of strawberries or one (1/8 of the pizza) slice of pizza?5 -

I sometimes split the difference with pizza. One slice + side salad. Eat salad first and save the yummy for last!5 -
It is my weigh in day today and that has worked as my motivation for today because I lost 2lbs 🥳
I'm so happy that I'm heading in the right direction again.
My calories are set at a 1lb loss per week but I really got back into my exercise as well as calorie counting last week and burned hundreds and hundreds of extra calories off which helped me lose the 2nd lb.
8lb to go and I will have lost the 10lb that I put back on and will be back at my target weight 😁 🤞10 -
Today my husband and I helped a neighbor on his homestead tear down a large chicken run that included cattle panels, posts, and 2 x 4's (it was a fortress made to withstand bears). It took us 3.5 hours total. We did get two truck loads of seasoned fire wood as payment. I don't know how you'd log that as exercise but I was sweating my back side off by the end of it all. I just logged an hour of general gardening as my exercise. Helping a neighbor helped me get moving today.10

Planning my meals out this morning before I did anything else and focusing on the realization that my eating junk food is ruining my health.7
-
Asking for help on another thread and getting help from other users. Not a good day today but I will start again tomorrow as I don't want to ruin the work that I did last week.9

Some self care and self talk is what worked for me today. I gave myself a good cheerleading talk and pumped that positivity right back up again 💯6

I realized that salads with protein for lunch and cutting desert at night leads to getting the weight off.7
-
So, I eat the same thing every day or a slight variation. I drink my coffee/ protein shake for breakfast.
I eat instant grits for lunch.
I eat 400 grams of fruit/veggies with chia seeds for a snack.
I have dinner and then I eat random amounts of green grapes, cuties, cucumber.. stuff like that between dinner and bedtime. It’s all healthy. It’s all raw veggies or fruit but I dislike not having an accurate count.
What worked for me today was when I was cutting up/ measuring my first snack, I just made two containers and logged everything in advance. I think that’s a better idea than just guesstimating how many times I ate 4 grapes or two slices of cucumber…7
