Happy Friday everyone! My weight finally dipped back down under 240, so I'm pretty jazzed about that. I woke up this morning with bad muscle pain in my right outer hip/upper thigh area. I've really been pushing myself with walking speed this week, so it's totally possible that I overworked it. Since I plan on doing a lot of walking tomorrow, today is a big ol' rest day for my lower body. Tomorrow is our Pride parade downtown, which is about a 1.25 mile walk each way from my apartment. I could drive if I'm still in pain, but I really want to avoid paying for parking, and I want to be active whenever possible!
Earlier this week, I found out my gifted program teacher in middle and high school passed, and this morning I went to her visitation. She was a huge part of my teen years, and I'm glad I stopped by. Life is too dang short, and I'm glad I started this journey because it helps me appreciate every new day, and being able to move and feel good and interact with others and just enjoy life more. So I don't mean to get all deep on you, but I'm just really going to enjoy and appreciate being alive and well and able to move my body this weekend.
Have a wonderful, wonderful weekend everybody!7 -

I knew from my deadlifts and knee raises and ski machine times that my arms and core had gotten stronger and I've been obsessed with how my arms and shoulders look and feel for close to a month now but this little achievement really painted the picture I needed to see how far I've come.
And this is how my weightloss journey started. It was never about losing weight but about fitness goals. 6 months ago I could not do a bridge, my arms simply couldn't lift even that portion of my weight. Even my head barely managed for a few seconds back then. But today on my first attempt I held for at least 5 seconds and then on my second attempt we were supposed to do 10 seconds but I wasn't counting. It felt like I could hold the position forever. I feel so good right now.
I'm still gonna keep logging and eating when I'm hungry and staying below maintenance but I feel like I can let go of the pressure that had been building lately. Idk where it came from but I'm glad it's gone.
Also really great to read about all the NSVs and scale victories today! Great job!
Congrats on the pilates win! I've been doing it about two months and know how great that feels.3 -
Man, I am feeling snacky today. Working a long shift, and I'm trying to spread out my lunch to last a while instead of eating it all at once and too early. I think it's because I didn't have that much protein in my breakfast this morning. Current strategy: drink my whole water bottle before getting my next snack/part of lunch. Also getting up to walk around and move away from the snack food at my desk.6

On the other hand, I just bounce out of my chair when I need to go do something now. I was thinking just a bit ago how lovely it is to just walk across my work building and courtyard without a thought, without a pain...

Hi all, I am new here. Setting some goals and getting focused on being healthy. I recently got back from a vacation where my weight and overall health slowed me down and prevented me from doing all the things I wanted to do. It was frustrating for me and my family.
Starting weight: 221.5
Current Weight: 221.5
(Also the highest I've ever been...even while pregnant).
Goals:
Get my feet healthy. I have plantar fasciitis and need to focus on getting rid of it. (Any tips are appreciated).
Drink a lot more water.
Eat breakfast. I go all morning on coffee then get shaky and overeat.
Start logging my calories daily.
Thanks for letting me join!8 -

May I let slide. Weight kept going up without full reasons I could see at the time. Some sodium hits each week. I was hoping it was finally TOTM. After 170+ days, yes it was. Still is after a week so we'll see if anything else comes down.
Mom has left for her summer location this morning. I'll be moving back to my house in a few weeks once her internet service is turned off. So I'm hoping I can get some strides now with weight. Cortisol from stress should go down now too. We'll see how she does on her own these few months as to whether I need to come back to her house once she does or only once I'm ready to sell my house.
DH and I will be going to Vegas next week. He's officiating a friend's wedding. We didn't really make much plans in case she decides to do some things. Second time for me going so I know a little. DH has never been so we'll see. We're trying a different airline than southwest so it makes him nervous with his size. He really didn't use the extra seat on southwest so I was banking on that, especially if I'm sitting next to him. This will be his second round trip airplane ride but if he sees he can do it might make way for more trips, etc.7 -

After last week’s so busy no walks, I am happy I didn’t let that become the norm and have gotten right back to doing my daily walks this week although one was just around my yard a few times with the Arborist. They have been longer walks except for the day I went walking around stores looking for something I never found and it was rainy so I had a shorter walk that day. Last night’s walk was pretty long and involved some hills. Today’s was longer but flatter. My street slopes down very gradually to the south so when I turn back I am going up. I have an interview for a job Monday.
@bojanaantje3822 Nice NSV with pilates.
@pamperedlinny I hope you get well soon. I hope you survive your husbands cooking. We had a time where I had 2 jobs and my husband was unemployed. He learned to cook more things than he did before. He even tells me how to cook my recipes! That’s when I say do you want to cook it?
@Making_Impossible_Possible Nice walking! I had to stop using my fitbit so now I just concentrate on minutes walking and how many a week. I started this year working up to 5 days and am now on 6 days a week. I have longer walks some days and shorter others. I like how you are making up whatever steps you need depending on your work day.
@CupcakeCrusoe enjoy your Friday dinner. We have Friday breakfasts.
@seltzer_lover nice NSV. I do not know why I don’t think for exercise related accomplishments as NSV but they are.
@JAC581 Hope your leg feels better for tomorrow. I have a goal to make it to a café that is a bit longer distance than I have been walking one way from home. I think it makes a good reward. Sorry to hear about you special teacher. Have a wonderful weekend.
@kenziestabes I have been delaying eating my lunch since I have had good breakfasts but then I don’t feel satisfied with lunch and have a snack then am less hungry for dinner. Need to work on that next week to get some pounds down.
@sargemarcori I think I need to get some more bouncy chairs.
@Focused_Forward Welcome. I was having foot problems after the pandemic started and realized I was walking barefoot around the house too much. I now wear crocs and it has worked. I also got good running shoes for my foot and that helps too. I think I would have developed plantar fasciitis if I hadn’t nipped in the bud.
@justanotherloser007 You are getting there.
@sarah12277 I wasn’t worried about fitting the seatbelt when we went to Hawaii in March for a family wedding, since my weight was lower than the last time I flew and I fit. However I was surprised at how much I could tighten it. I hope your trip to Vegas goes well.
@porquenoirl Congrats on making into onderland!
Have wonderful weekend all!6 -
I had the day off from work today for doctors appointments, so I was home most of the day, but I didn't eat my way thru the pantry! Normally I'd snack all day just cause I could. Managed to keep to drinking my Chocolate protein shake (The Fairlife Nutrition Plan drinks are awesome BTW!) in my coffee, a nectarine and a serving of almonds. I knew we would be eating out for dinner (bad, I know), but Fridays are usually our take our nights. I was mindful of what I ate even though it was take out and I still came in under goal, so I dont feel guilty!
I've made 4 days in a row where I've either used the treadmill or went for a walk plus made 10k + in steps. Today after dinner and a game of yatzee with the kiddos, we went for a walk. Walked 2.5 miles in 60 minutes in 100 degree weather, but we did it!
At my doctor's appointment today I did decide to go back on birth control. My husband had a vasectomy almost 7 years ago so I haven't used contraception since he got the all clear. I'm using it though because I'm tired of have period symptoms for 3 weeks out of the month. Like I'm usually due like the 27th of the month, but here we are on June 10 and I'm having breast pain already. In a few more days I'll have more annoying symptoms. IUDs freak me out, the implanon my doctor said a lot of her patients have issues with spotting constantly, and I have sensitive skin so with my luck a patch would irritate me. I'm hoping going on the pill won't cause me to gain weight or make me want to eat more than I already do.
If I can get thru this weekend then I'll be good to go for the next week at least!
@Focused_Forward - your starting weight is what I was when I started, but I'm only 5'2. I even had the plantar fasciitis. Rolling my foot on frozen water bottles or tennis balls, and better shoes have helped a ton and I havent had issues with it in a while. You can do it!
@sarah12277 - Have fun in Vegas! Make sure you drink a lot of water while you're in Vegas! It's supposed to be anywhere from 95 to 107 next week!
@porquenoirl - Congratulations 🎊 Feels great, huh? I'm hovering on the edge of 199 and 200 again, but it always feels nice to see a 1 to start your weight instead of a 2.
@KeriA - Yay for not letting a weird week mess you up! Movement is movement!6 -

2lb on this week
I don't know what I did. Maybe my portions were a bit larger than last week. Maybe I just need to drink more water.
Maybe it's the "you can't be on a diet all the time, you need to treat yourself" message I got from my mum and my sister when I said I wasn't going to get a mcdonalds (side note I got the mcdonalds). Which yeah, but also its been less than a month. And I am trying to treat myself, within my daily calories and in a non-food way.
Maybe its the 'why do you want to join the gym, just take the dog out (dog is 4 months and cannot walk for more than 25 mins at a time, will not walk at anything more than a slow wander), you're perfect as you are" (yes, but I want to lose weight and feel fitter for myself. Because I want to lower my risk of health problems I've so far managed to dodge)
Maybe I need to stop putting the blame on other people, see it as a minor bump in the road, and just do better next week.9 -
My weight is still stuck but I thought I'd measure myself. Every number I've seen before so it's basically unchanged but on the low end, meaning maybe tomorrow after I've had a full day of rest it could be down to a new low. Only one new low measured - my head circumference. I don't get it, what's left to lose around my head??? My head is half a cm smaller now than it was a decade ago, even though I was some 40kg lighter then.
I did have great gains this week. I surprised myself with my cardio workout yesterday, doing better than most people in our gym who did it! And my deadlifts were great too, I managed to do 3 repetitions at 120kg, which is only 7kg away from my bodyweight. I can probably deadlift my bodyweight now if I try.
Time to lounge around in the sun and maybe take a little nap. I had 7 workouts this week and I went to work from the office all 4 days this week, monday having been a holiday.
I got some nice cabbage and potato stew for tonight and a ton of pre-logged fruit I didn't have time to eat yet.
@Inky_one are you using a measuring tape? Sometimes you see progress there when the scale isn't moving. It could also be water weight, unless you actually went over calories by a lot (iirc 7000 cals for 2 lbs). It sucks to see the scale move in the wrong direction6 -
Good morning everyone!
187.8 this morning, I like seeing the scale when it's down. I got some good sleep, so important, and I'm not that sore this morning, just in time for me to go to the gym for a double feature, lol.
Plan for today:
* make a nice egg white and ham breakfast sandwich with my low-calorie bread
* take some orange slices to the gym for in between classes or at the end of classes
* go to the gym and do TRX and pole control, get my butt kicked by the workouts, probably
* go grocery shopping
* work on lollipop game for kid's end of school year party (where you put colored dots on the bottom of the sticks, and the kids pick a lollipop, and get a prize based on what color the dot is? Yeah, I volunteered for that the kids are going to like it, though)
* laundry, dishes, boring stuff
* get burgers from elsewhere for dinner, mine will be lettuce wrapped and I will make air fried potatoes instead of getting french fries, and we'll drink beer
* make OREO PROTEIN ICE CREAM I'M SO EXCITED TO SEE IF IT'S GOOD
* play video games with friends?
* go to sleep at a reasonable time

@seltzer_lover I have a little theory: I have a theory that the first 5-10 percent body fat comes off pretty easily, and after that, the body hangs onto it more. I base this theory only on my own experience (I always get hung up in the 180s when I start around 200) and on some studies that talk about 5-10% body fat being what a lot of study participants lose in a year.
But the corollary to my theory is, if you're at the new weight for long enough, maintaining it or losing slowly with plenty of diet breaks, your body will eventually adjust the set point, and then you can continue.
This is all theoretical, I've got no science to back it (mostly because weight loss studies are generally not great in terms of sample size or they use self-reported data, etc etc)
The game sounds fun, and exhilirating to progress in! Well done!
@JAC581 Have fun at the pride parade! I'm sorry to hear about your teacher. Life is too short, and I'm glad you're appreciating it for what it is now, and can be in the future.
@kenziestabes those days are the WORST, it's true, when I don't prioritize protein, I'm a hunger monster all day.
@sargemarcoriThe scale is just...a readily apparent way to keep track? But it lies, too.
@Focused_Forward Hi! No time like now to start! I'm not familiar with feet problems, but it is heartbreaking that you couldn't fully enjoy your vacation because of your weight. We're all here for you, let us know how it's going sometimes! Being here in the community really helps for morale!
@justanotherloser007 Look at you go! Good progress! I hope you're feeling well.
@sarah12277 Ooh, Vegas! Very exciting! I hope that the airplane ride goes as smoothly as possible, I know it can be stressful to exist on a plane as a bigger person.
@porquenoirl CONGRATULATIONS ON ONEDERLAND!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉
@KeriA Mojo for your interview, your walks sound lovely. And talking with an arborist sounds so nice, like a relaxing interaction with someone who knows their stuff can be.
@Making_Impossible_PossibleI knew we would be eating out for dinner (bad, I know), but Fridays are usually our take our nights. I was mindful of what I ate even though it was take out and I still came in under goal, so I dont feel guilty!
Maybe some chicken would be a better choice than pizza or whatever for your goals, but pizza is delicious and we should all eat it if we want it! It's important to remember, as we lose weight, to keep sight of the fact that this is a lifelong way of eating and being. If you're going to eat pizza and drink beer (my personal Friday night every week) after you hit goal weight, you should eat it now, get used to how you structure your day around it.
I've said this before, but maybe now again: losing weight is not punishment. You deserve to enjoy things while you do it. And it's good, actually, to try to fit those things in, because you're going to have to do the same when you're done losing.
@Inky_one Unless you've eaten 7000 calories on top of maintenance this week, you didn't gain 2 lbs spontaneously. My money's on water weight. Weight's not quick to take off, and it's not quick to put on.
I notice that you say maybe your portions are bigger- are you weighing or otherwise measuring your portions? Because knowing how much you're eating will take some of the uncertainty away from your logging.
As for your mom and sister- it is my experience that people don't know how to engage with you when you're trying to lose weight. If they're insecure about their own weight and health, they might do what your mom and sister are doing- undermine your efforts so they don't feel bad that they're not taking care of themselves. If they're *kitten* like my family, they might be overly excited about how small I'm getting, which gives me the heebie jeebies. People are weird, you do you.
@bojaantje3822Time to lounge around in the sun and maybe take a little nap. I had 7 workouts this week and I went to work from the office all 4 days this week, monday having been a holiday.
I got some nice cabbage and potato stew for tonight and a ton of pre-logged fruit I didn't have time to eat yet.
Congratulations on your workout NSVs, that's very weird about your head measurement, lol.
Have a great Saturday, everyone! Kick it in the *kitten* once for me!

It has now been a month hovering around this weight, and I am starting to feel frustrated. But then I think about how I have been going over my deficit frequently, eating out more, and have not been as diligent with my tracking, and I know why the scale isn't moving. So if I want hit my goal I need to get back on track. Especially as I really, really want to be able to say I am in Onederland when I reach my 1 year anniversary of MFP. Maybe typing this I out is what I need to get back in the game, lol.
I have a bunch of travel coming up for work this summer when my kids are with their dad, including Orlando, Boston, and Atlanta. I am really looking forward to the trips, but don't want to get sick with all that time in an airplane. Nor do I want to backside, so all the more reason to get bak on track asap.
I hope you all are enjoying the start of your summer, and making progress towards your goals!

I'll take it, this is progress in the correct direction! Hubs and I are going to the mall in a little bit here to check out some Hokas at the running store, a brand of fancy athletic shoe that his fellow rad techs swear by. I think I've gotten to the point where I'm serious enough about fitness to justify $120+ gym shoes for myself, too, if the spirit so moves me. I'm hoping the store is one of those that does, like, gait analysis and can actually point us toward shoes for our specific shoe-wearing needs. I do long-distance walking and hiking (on relatively even ground, this is Florida); he interns at a hospital 3 days a week and is on his feet for most of the day in clinic, which will be more days once he gets licensed and actually starts working.
Last weekend my husband was making up some clinic hours on Sunday, so I had the day to myself. I needed to go to the bank and deposit a check from my grandma, so I decided to walk there - the weather was nice and I was stuck inside all day Saturday because of the remnants of Hurricane Agatha tumbling across the state. So I did that, and then I decided, hell, I've got nothing but time, why don't I go check out this little coffeeshop I keep driving past and meaning to visit? It's not that far from the bank. So I did, turns out the "little" coffeeshop is actually HUGEMONGOUS and they sell all kinds of cool and funky art and homegoods in addition to coffee. My iced latte was delicious. By that time it was getting to be lunchtime and I was hungry, so I walked to another place and got some food, stopped at CVS to get some little sundries, and then beat the rain home by about 15 minutes. I walked 12 miles on a whim. I definitely could not have done that so easily, or had any energy to spare for the rest of the day, a year ago or even six months ago, probably. And, as an added bonus, since I spent 6 hours wandering around town, I didn't spend six hours laying on the couch and eating all of my snacks, LMAO.
The rest of this month is going to be good, I've already decided. I'm getting a pedicure on Monday as a late birthday gift to myself, and then my mom is coming to visit the following week. I haven't seen her since 2018 - we were going to go up there for Christmas last year, but that didn't end up happening for various surgery-and-coronavirus-related reasons. I'm excited!8 -
Hi, all. Once again, I'm late to the party that I started. 🤣🤣🤣
But I've just moved and today I started my new job! I've still got lots to set up and organize, but I'm really feeling good about where I'm going from here.
My goals for the rest of this month are:
🌼 Log my food
🌼 No fast food/eat lots of fruits &veggies
🌼 Eat all my meals at the table (no eating on the couch or in bed or in front of the tv)
🌼Use my budget app and record all expenses
🌼Find my fitbit (it got lost in the move)
🌼Try to hit 10k steps a day
🌼Find an active activity that I like9 -
Good morning everyone!
187 this morning! happy to know my body was just retaining 2-3 lbs of water this whole time. It was a thing I knew, but it was getting harder to believe when my weight just hovered between 188.8 and 190. And I'm sore this morning, arms and core, because of TRX and pole control yesterday. My next gym classes aren't until Tuesday, so plenty of muscle recovery time (and maybe more time to see weight decreases 👀 )
Whatever I didn't get done yesterday is getting done today, plus cooking... something, don't know what yet, so
* figure out what I'm most looking forward to eating so I can prelog my day
* work on lollipop game for kid's end of school year party (where you put colored dots on the bottom of the sticks, and the kids pick a lollipop, and get a prize based on what color the dot is? Yeah, I volunteered for that the kids are going to like it, though)
* stretch goal: pack the kids' bags for grandma's house, and my bag for DC
* go to sleep at a reasonable time

@lmgoff232 it is SO easy to say "I have no idea why the scale is stalled!" meanwhile in the kitchen I'm mindlessly finishing off my daughter's food she didn't want, forgetting about it, and not logging it, lol. I've been there, you've got this.
@goal06082021 all your adventures sound both fun and relaxing, and congratulations on the loss!
@RavenStCloud oh wow, move and new job, no wonder you don't have time for internet friends, haha. Glad you're here, your goals look great!

I measured a new low on my hips and underbreast bra band area. One day I'll learn the proper terminology. Everything else is the lowest I've measured so far too but stalled at it.
I did go back to look at some pre-covid data I had and my hips are 4cm smaller than they were back then, both in months with the same weight and months where I weighed 4,5kg less than I do now. With the exception of my arms and calves, all measurements are the same as or smaller than back then.
My calves are looking fantastic though so I don't mind. The arms are easily explained. I've never had strong arms and my muscles there were not proportionate to my muscles elsewhere. I'm fixing that now. But because of this, my arms haven't lost any cm, and even gained 0,5-1cm. My old blouses are starting to fit right everywhere except my arms feel like they'll rip through the sleeves. I'm okay with this for now.
I'm finally no longer sore and I've been peeing way more than usual, despite drinking less so I would assume my weight is down. However, this is my no gym day so I can't check.
I am getting my period next saturday and I started being ravenous yesterday, right when I expected. This led me to re-evaluate my plan and I decided it makes more sense to take a diet break now, when I wanna eat everything, for two weeks rather than two weeks from now when I'll be regular hungry and struggling to hit maintenance calories. So starting today I'm eating 2900-3100 calories for 2 weeks and weighing myself every now and then. After that I'll lower it again but I'll see what seems like a good number. My maintenance might be higher than 3100 but I don't think it's realistic to eat relatively healthily above that number. There's only so much peanut butter and nuts and oil a girl can eat. I've always been more of a carbs person than anything else but I don't think it's a good idea to eat 500cals of baked goods extta every day either.
I'm making pohovani patlidžan tonight, which is aubergine with a doughy crust. It's my absolute favourite food and I always eat like 4 portions of it in a single sitting so I exclusively make it for dinner with nothing else, even though it's meant to be a side dish.
Next week it's gonna be hot outside, 24-27 degrees C (I'm in the Netherlands, this was hot for us before we got those ridiculous heat waves a couple of years ago), so I took my shorter leggings out of the depths of my wardrobe. I have no idea if they'll fit since I bought them months ago but let's hope for the best. If they don't, I'll only have one pair left that fits for sure so I'll have to wear full length leggings and take off my shirt instead. Personally I'd rather show people my legs than my upper body but our gym is a really wonderful place. I only got one weird look when I exercised in a sports bra only before and that person might not even be there so I'm going to just do it. Better to feel some eyes on me than to suffocate from the heat.5 -
@bojaantje3822 and @seltzer_lover That is awesome! Congrats on your fitness NSVs!
Welcome @Focused_Forward
@KeriA I hope you're interview goes well!
@goal06082021 Wow, that's awesome and a wonderful way to spend a day!
@RavenStCloud Congrats on the new job!
@CupcakeCrusoe Woohoo on the lower number on the scale!5
