So I'm going to chalk the weight gain up to two things: 1) TOM arriving three days early yesterday, and 2) not tracking at all over the weekend. The weekend was just go go go and honestly, it was just a PITA to track with everything going on. I did slip a little - a chocolate coffee peanut butter milkshake yesterday, and an AMAZING (and huge!) platter of chicken and rice at the Juneteenth celebration downtown on Saturday. Other than those two things, I didn't go too out of control. Oh wait, my boyfriend really wanted to try the new fried chicken place downtown Friday night after signing our lease(!) so yeah, this wasn't a great weekend nutritionally.
BUT, I'm hoping things slow down this week and I can get back into the groove of things. I went into the office today. We are moving offices over the summer and really downsizing so we are giving away desks, chairs, etc. to employees who need/want them. I just helped move a huge desk outside so there's a little bit of a strength workout, lol. I came prepared with food this time so I'm not tempted to eat out (I've been spending too much anyway). It's a perfect day for a walk in the park so I plan on doing that later in the workday. I also am wearing workout clothes in the office because who cares. I figured I'd be going for a walk so I made sure to dress comfortably for it.
Tomorrow is another baseball game so I'll need to plan my food for the day to allow for a White Claw and walking taco in the evening. That's probably going to be it because DANG stadium food is expensive.
Have a wonderful week everyone!7 -
My child has driven me crazy all day.... I finally snapped. Then she went to sulk and I put the leftover fries from Saturday in the air fryer and I don't even regret it at this moment. I will later but right now I'm taking solice in french fries.
Also, our microwave broke the other day so I had to go buy a new one, find space for it since it isn't an over the stove one but a countertop one this time, try to run to Walmart for purchase and set everything up on my lunch hour while my child was taking TWO HOURS to unload the dishwasher. Since my workspace is next to the kitchen and I needed to get everything done in under an hour that was a big part of what caused the snap.7 -

Sorry I haven't been around much, with kids all day and school at night it's been difficult to be engaged in the community. I successfully created a jam packed routine , but I'm happy with it until the semester ends. Considering I was at 193 on 6/11 last week and then gained due to the TOM. I got a good woosh from TOM taking a hike, finally. I have an exam today that I have been obsessing over so I'll probably spend some time tomorrow reading your posts, I have a lot of catching up to do!
On the plus side, I'm thinking I might actually hit my goal weight by my birthday

Oop, forgot to check in on Saturday. I saw 183 on the scale during the week, but I also think I'm due for another visit from Aunt Flo in the next week or so, so that sucks. It's just water and poop, it'll whoosh.
My mom is in town and it's been so nice to see her! We went to the science museum today - they have an interactive exhibit themed around brainteasers/puzzle-solving, both of us are into that so we decided to go check it out. It's mainly geared toward little kids, but so is the whole science museum, tbf. It was still pretty neat, and a few of the puzzles for, you know, six year olds had us stumped for a good little minute.
Today I started a new exercise regimen. For the next 12 weeks, my goal is to average 7000 steps per day and 10 minutes of yoga per day. Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday are also strength-training days; I modified a 6-day Push/Pull/Legs (PPL) split into two 3-day splits with an A-week and B-week. Monday is always Push day but I alternate between two similar-but-different specific workouts each week; Tuesday is Pull day, Thursday is Legs day. I'm excited to shift focus to lower body again - I feel SO strong and it's SO GOOD. Wednesday is a cardio focus day, Friday is yoga, weekend is whatever steps/yoga minutes I need to meet my weekly average goals.
I made a piña colada flavored baked oatmeal for breakfast this week. It smells amazing so I'm hoping it tastes good, too. It used coconut flakes and coconut milk, as well as almond milk - I was going to just use dairy milk since I had that on hand, but then I remembered that pineapple makes milk curdle, so I ended up grabbing a carton of almond milk too. I'm open to suggestions for what to do with the rest, I only used a quarter of the carton for the oatmeal.5 -
almond milk goes great in smoothies! I also use it when I want my overnight oatmeal to be good and creamy. it has a nice mouth-feel.4

Goals for June:
🍎 Keep eating 4-5 fruits and veggie servings per day, at least 5 days a week
🧘🏼♀️ Work up to 8 minutes at a time doing Leslie Sansone workouts by the end of the month
👦 Survive the first month of summer break and taking care of my nephews (my health has gone downhill a lot since last summer)
🏊♀️ Start water exercise once the complex pool opens
👩⚕️ Set up the appointments I need to have with my primary doctor
⬇️ Lose 5-6 pounds and enter the 250s (I’ll be happy with any loss)
Past week update:
I have eaten at least 4 servings of fruits and veggies each day this past week. No exercise. Pool still isn’t open 😒 not that I think I’d be able to go still coughing as bad as I have been. I know I posted in here I did, but I set one of the two in person appointments with my primary. Not sure when I should schedule the second one for yet.
I’m supposed to go get a chest x-ray for this coughing issue. My doctor thinks it could have been Covid that I had even though the rapid test was negative. I’m also getting blood work for my hormones because that time of the month has been off kilter in one way or another for nearly a year. Those two places are next door to each other but with most lab hours closing earlier than my brother gets off work I had to arrange a ride with a ride service for this Wednesday.
My niece will be coming over Friday night again. She got her own car now and I’m so excited that she can come over easier and hopefully more often!
I have tried using Wi-Fi calling with my phone but it doesn’t help. What helps more often, believe it or not, is turning my Wi-Fi connection off during a call. It doesn’t always help but more often than other things.5 -
Woke up to an over 2 lb. whoosh overnight, which was a nice surprise! I didn't track what I ate for most of yesterday, but I tried to make smart choices. Also, between moving offices and apartments, I'm being more active taking apart stuff, moving furniture, and scrubbing my place down. I was up at 6:45 this morning scrubbing out my oven (getting the worse chores out of the way early in the moving process!) after letting a baking soda paste sit overnight. It doesn't look much cleaner, but oh well.
Tonight is a baseball game, which should be fun despite the heat. I'll get lots more steps in walking around the stadium. Dinner will be a walking taco and maybe ice cream, so I need to be cognizant of my food choices the rest of the day. My boyfriend suggested having my parents join us, and somehow, I convinced them to go. My father very rarely leaves the house and always finds something to complain about, so this should be interesting, but it will be good for him to get out. We have four season tickets to each game through my employer (employees sign up for whatever games they want to attend) so it's pretty nice getting to go out and save money on tickets.
Have a great day everyone!5 -
The scale at the gym showed 128kg. Even though I ate at a surplus most of the week, I couldn't have gained more than half a kg. I went over my sedentary maintenance by 500-600 cals on average and while I had 2 days of bed rest, I wasn't inactive the rest of the week. I also started exercising again yesterday and my quads actually ached from the assault bike 😂 so I'm not worried at all.4

Just restarted my journey. Looking to lose 196lbs but make small goals to start. My first goal is to cut back on sugar. And drink more water.6

welcome, @aflads31! those are good starter goals (but you knew that. )2

I'm so happy that I just discovered this thread! I am fairly new still and have been looking for the right community to join! We are finishing up the process of moving to a new home this week, finishing getting things out of our old apartment and cleaning it up before inspection, while also working on unpacking our new home. I finally am back in my groove this week so my goal for the rest of June is to stay on track and make sure to continue to log consistently, and lose 2-3 pounds before the end of the month!
I am a wife to my best friend and love of my life, and mom of three boys and two huskies! I work from home and am a huge science nerd who also enjoys building with legos with our boys and playing video games! We live in a very warm climate but we do love being outside and hiking and camping when the weather is not so hot. My husband and I want to have another baby within the next couple of years, I just have a personal goal of losing at least 50 more lbs before we start trying!

🌼🌼🌼 June GW: 196 - aka Onderland! 🌼🌼🌼
The ole progress seems to have slowed this month. I'm moving from more extended fasts to 18:6 as I've been reading that it's a better fit for women. Haven't really exercised much, well lots of gentle stuff, some nice paddles, walks in the woods and archery but I need more sweating! In the middle of trying to buy a house and that's been taking up a lot of energy.5 -
Good morning everyone!
My new scale came in yesterday, so I'm happy to report that New Scale Baseline is 185! Looks like I've been maintaining just fine on my diet break, and it's TOM besides. And now my scale will automatically sync with MacroFactor (and google fit, and fitbit, and whatever else).
Last night we went out for dinner at a riverfront restaurant, got to sit outside, and I had a couple of nice cocktails, shrimp and grits, and a couple hush puppies (yummm). Today is TRX at the gym, and of course, all that deep cleaning. I have no idea what I'll be eating, except this leftover shrimp and grits that I'm calling breakfast.
Yesterday I didn't eat an adequate breakfast before I tackled clearing out the playroom (ritz crackers and homemade frosting, lol), and that was a Bad Decision. At one point I just lay on the ground because I felt awful. Not making that mistake again, too much to do!
I'm back on my *kitten*, and trying to delay vacuuming and deep cleaning the carpets today, so tag party time!
@seltzer_lover good to know that there's no pushing you to get out of the green zone if you don't want to be, that was the first thing I thought of when I read that. I hear you on wanting new clothes, but not wanting to buy them yet. Can't I be at goal weight already so I can plan out my whole wardrobe?! Haha.
I liked the article, thanks for sharing. I try to program at least one rest day in between each of my workouts, and work out 3-4 times a week, now, but I know people who are there every. day.
@bonniemcc4 I'm so glad that you got some help from the assistant, that was very thoughtful.
That's so exciting about your niece being able to come over! I wish I had had that close a relationship with my aunts. We just grew apart, they couldn't handle I was getting older and might have different opinions than theirs.
@sandielewis2001 yesssssssssss 🥳
@porquenoirl house buying is so stressful. And this market! Oof. Best of luck. Life happens, and like life, it's about the friends habits we make along the way.
@BeastModeBeauty87 Hi! Welcome! You say "just" 10 lbs, but 10 lbs would be a whole lot in one month! Tell us some about yourself!
@Inky_one oooh, I like the idea of a low-calorie snack plate, totally stealing that for later...
@bojaantje3822 good for you listening to your body. I hope you're feeling much better. And way to go! 30 lbs is great progress! And your posts about working out are always so inspiring.
@JAC581 Congratulations on the apartment! 🥳🥳 Weekends, especially really busy weekends, are so hard for eating at a deficit. I hope baseball was fun!
@finngirl61 good to hear from you! Sorry to hear about your knee. The good news is, any progress is good progress, even if you aren't getting there quickly. And the changes you make to lose weight are (generally!) healthy changes for you anyway, like increasing water and vegetables.
@pamperedlinny I'm happy you enjoyed the concert, and got moving again, slowly! That's got to feel good, after not being able to for a little while.
Being in close quarters with family doesn't give us the stress relief valves we would normally use. Don't be too hard on yourself, that sounded like a stressful situation.
@RavenStCloud Good to "see" you! Mindful eating is one I really need to work on. Glad to hear you're enjoying a more active job!
@sargemarcori I've been there, keep the faith (and the deficit)! Or take a diet break, and restart the deficit in a week or so.
@Generic_Excuse Glad to hear the whole card situation got resolved. So stressful.
@lmgoff232 Yeah, no way you put on 4 lbs of fat in that small amount of time.
@justanotherloser007 oh wow, haha, that's amazing. And it must feel very good to have such a huge validation of your progress.
@swimmom_1 water can make weight fluctuate so much. Glad you're taking it in stride.
@_manny_702 holy *kitten* you are flying! look at you!
@goal06082021 the museum with your mom sounds like fun! And your overnight oats sound amazing. I drink almond milk every day in my coffee, and I also prefer it as a mixer for my protein shakes (when I have them).
@aflads31 welcome! Those are great goals!
@cosmiccurveshuge science nerd who also enjoys building with legos with our boys and playing video games!
Feels so good to be able to weigh in again and monitor my weight. Have a great day everyone!

Hey everyone!!!!
First, I have a new recipe on my blog this morning. Someone had asked a couple weeks ago about the link and since there is a new post I figured this was the time to share it again. https://pamperedlinny.wixsite.com/coffee-required/post/mexican-street-corn
As for my stress eating breakdown the other day.... it came on the heels of celebrating Father's Day and on my husband's birthday. Add in the not great food choices at the concert Friday night and my fasting blood sugar on Tuesday morning was higher than it's been in a while. Needless to say that put me right back on track in a hurry. Yesterday I stuck to plan with a vengence. LOL
I still haven't made it back to my Zumba classes yet but I'm thinking maybe Thursday or Saturday (there isn't one on Fridays). Monday, Tuesday and this morning I did the small loop in my neighborhood with my walking partner. I also did the small loop with my daughter mid-morning yesterday and plan to try that again today. We also went bowling yesterday so while I didn't get a ton a steps in last night or a real workout in I didn't just sit either. It's been 3 weeks since I caught Covid and while I still get tired a bit easier I've got to keep adding movement. For my physical health, my mental health and for my diabetes. The longer I stay sitting the more bleh I feel and the less I want to get moving. Plus, I can't snack if I'm busy.
As for the bowling, I promised we would go more often during the summer. There is a small bowling alley near us that is actually owned and run by a huge church next door to it. Most of the employees are from the youth group of the church. Bowling on a weeknight (Mon, Tue, Thu) is only $2 per game and includes shoes so I can agree to that plan.
I am scheduled to have my lab work done on July 12 then see the doctor on July 20. I don't love my doctor and eventually need to find a new one but as long as my A1C is under control and my blood pressure isn't crazy we'll get along fine. She is a pill pusher for sure and is more likely to lecture than to listen so I really do need to buckle down and find someone else one of these days. If I don't keep my eating, weight, fasting blood sugar, etc all under control for the next 3 to 4 weeks she's going to give me another lecture and try to give me more meds I don't actually need. (Like diabetic medication when I can keep my A1C in "normal" range with diet and exercise just because she believes in medicating everything)

@goal06082021 That brainteaser exhibit sounds fun! You’ll have to share the recipe for your baked oatmeal.
@bonniemcc4 I hope all your labs come back good and your get any answers you need.
@JAC581 Free tickets are the best tickets. I hope you had a fantastic time at the game!
@aflads31 Welcome! Small goals are fantastic. It’s so easy to get discouraged looking at the long road ahead and small goals make that so much easier.
@cosmiccurves Welcome! I’ve just started introducing my daughter to easy hikes. Flat paths or shorter paths with a waterfall or something to really catch her attention. But it’s also summer in South Carolina so if we don’t go out early we miss our chance before it gets crazy hot. Do your boys like to hike with you?
@CupcakeCrusoe Yay!!!! I’m so glad your scale arrived. Smart scales are the best. You never have to manually type your weight into any of the apps again once they all sync up.

8. Eat out 4x or less a week (unless on vacation)
9. Clean one thing every day instead of everything in one day.
Absolutely delighted that I only gained half a pound this weekend. I was in total vacation mode, and despite going on walks in the mornings, I definitely overate. It was a nice diet break, and the puppy and I definitely enjoyed visiting the family. She and my brother's younger dog played so much!
Didn't really track my monthly goals this week, but like I said, I was on vacation. Hopped back into working out today and tracking calories yesterday.
Also! Also! I ran into my childhood next door neighbor at the grocery store while visiting my hometown. Her kids are my age, and we've lived next door to each other since I was four. She didn't recognize me until I said hello!9 -
Hi all, good to see new people and congratulations to those who have had success! I had hoped to lose just one pound for the week-geeze. But nope. So increasing my protein and hope for better news next week. I hate drinking water- occasionally I'll have Propel or Powerade (no sugar). But am a coffee drinker. Will try to add at least some water in evening. Thanks to @CupcakeCrusoe for the tag and encouragement!5

Just started yesterday so no progress yet. Looking for motivation and new friends.5 -
I'm stressing about my weigh-in tomorrow morning. The last 2 days I've been bloating, felt snacky, and been emotional so I think we all know what's coming. This month has been so chaotic with my weigh-ins and where as I feel like I've lost a fine amount I'm a person that needs to see my success on paper as a confirmation. This month I won't see that as nicely as others. And so, with the signs of upcoming TOM I am not excited to weigh tomorrow at all and what that will do mentally to the "success" I see. I just don't want to be discouraged.
Okay enough of my sobbing, tag party:
@cosmiccurves 👋 this is definitely an amazing group of people to help motivate! Seems like you've already been killing it with that 30lb loss! 🥳 Added you as a friend!
@porquenoirl Were you doing a different intermittent fasting before? I do the 16:8 with meal scheduling (10am: breakfast 2pm:lunch 6pm:dinner) I find it helps tremendously with overeating/snacking at night and undereating/skipping breakfast.
@pamperedlinny thanks for the link!! You already know how I feel about new food ideas! 🤣 Sorry to hear about your doctor. I hope you find someone who listens better and cares more soon! I believe some drs forget why they got into medicine in the first place and just see us as a # to get through to the next.😣
@kenziestabes gotta have those vacation breaks to keep us sane for sure 😄 happy you're doing well!
@aflads31 👋 Welp we all have to start somewhere, the important part is you decided to start!! Added you as a friend!5 -
Good morning!
I plan to officially try my first Zumba class in over 3 weeks tonight. I'm both excited to go back and worried about how much extra modification I'll have to do until my energy is fully back. I'm 90 to 95% back to normal except for being tired easier so it feels like I'm ready to give it a go. My daughter loves the Zumba teacher for Thursday & Sunday (she was actually her room mom last year) so she's excited to go with me tonight.
Tomorrow night I'm hosting a second ladies movie night with all the snacks and grazing that entails. You might remember I did that last month and we decided to try and make it a monthly thing. One night a month to let the kids play upstairs having their own "party", my husband hang upstairs to referee while watching his own movies or playing on his computer, all the ladies taking up the living room & kitchen while watching a movie, talking without a bunch of kid interuptions and eating whatever stuff everyone brought pot luck style. Having a ladies night in with wine, snacks and chocolate for a small close group was fabulous and did a lot for my mental health. I think we all need a chance to see and spend time with our girls once in a while.
Saturday I get to attend the annual crab feast that comes through where I live. I'm from Baltimore, MD but living in South Carolina so steamed blue crabs are rare where I live now and I miss just going out when I need a fix. So... whenever the Southeast Crab Feast travels through my area I am there. My best friend is going with me this year too and I don't think she's ever picked a crab. This should be interesting.
Also, on Saturday evening one of my families favorite events is happening. It's a pre-Independence Day celebration. There will be a sky diver, food trucks, live music, bounce houses for kids, etc and after 3 or 4 hours of fun it ends with a massive fire works display. Since it's a free event to attend and the bounce house wristband for the kids is only $5 it's a highlight of our summer.
I plan to weigh in tomorrow istead of Saturday given the Friday night feast. Fingers crossed nothing went up this week.
@aflads31 I sent you a friend request
@Generic_Excuse You got this and even if this month doesn’t show on paper as well as others there is always next month to start fresh.
@kenziestables We all need that vacation mode once in a while.

I've been on the struggle-bus this week emotionally (thanks, TOM) and yesterday I was feeling fairly insane. Ended up on in a snacky, bingey kind of mood but only overate meringues, so like....90 calories. Logged it, moved on, was still under on cals for the day.
It's just such an awful feeling to KNOW, logically, that my emotions are in charge, but still not fully be able to stop it. Just re-directed towards a food that I knew I wouldn't go over cals on.6
