I am about 21% along the way to lose 32 kg. I use multiple tape measurements (cm) around my body because they aren't affected by salt intake. My weight has been dropping for 3 months now. Apparently I've been trying to lose weight since September 2012, the last time I was at goal weight. Let's see if stopping eating sugary food is going to change things.

    Heaviest ever 1st Jan 2021, goal+31.7 kg
    * means kg lost
    Round 181 ending 856 cm

This calculates to 817 cm, a loss from the last round

The losses this round were courtesy of food poisoning, lots of you know what, plus I lost my appetite and it hasn't fully recovered. I planned my weights until the end of 2023, which is when I am hoping to be at goal weight. Currently I am "on track". I ran a total of 3 minutes this round. I'm still having sugar.

    Round # 55 for me!
SW: 359.6 (6000 step goal, goal to lose 2 to 3 lbs. each challenge, go to bed by 11:30, no eating out more than once every 10-day challenge)
    Day/Weight/Comment (previous day steps)
6/16 359.6 5152 – I had an interesting day at work yesterday. Had a splurge meal that was so good. I had it too late in the day, but I enjoyed every bite. Back to business today.
    6/17 359.6
    6/18 359.6
    6/19 358.2 :)
    6/20 358.2
    6/21 359.6 6040
6/22 359.2 3074 – I have been super busy. I was going to move out with my sister. Decided I could not do it! It is best for us both. We have not lived together since childhood, and it just would not work. This was stressing me out and I finally told her I could not do it. Too many red flags. I am going to tell her I will sign for her a place if they let me do it, but I can not move in with her.
6/23 357.8 6320 :) – Happy dance! Great day yesterday. I ate some veggies today. No intentional exercise. Way off on it these days. Not up to it.
    6/24 360.4 4275
6/25 358.4 3636 – Well this was a tough round but I pulled out a loss! I will take it. It is better than a gain, that is for sure. I will do better 10 next days. That gain from Thursday was crazy and I can not explain even with salty foods. Next week is month end quarter end at work so you all may not see me until July….lol Have a great weekend and keep up the fine fight.
Total lost this round: (-1.2) (Goal this round: 355)

My journey … "I May Not Be Where I Want To Be, but I’m Not Where I Use To Be!"
In 2003 Weighed over 600 lbs.
    2nmriozz84rc.png
In 2005 Weighed under 400 lbs.
    r3o1lagrbd1i.png
In 2007 lowest weight after surgery 302lbs
    uzs2w5a7aw1h.png
My highest weight was 611 in 2003. Weight in 2004 before weight loss surgery was 580. Lowest weight after surgery was 302 in 2007. "I May Not Be Where I Want To Be, but I’m Not Where I Use To Be!"

I joined MFP on March 27, 2010, weighing in at 388 pounds. I was re-gaining weight and stumbled up on it while trying to get back on track. I was determined never to see 400+ on that scale again for me.

I have been morbidly obese all my life. I have a lifetime of mental and physical scars from obesity. In October 2004 I had Gastric Bypass surgery. WLS (Weight Loss Surgery) was the best gift that I could and did give to myself.

Between 2008 and 2010 I gradually gained back 80 of almost 300 pounds lost initially after weight loss surgery. I never reached my goal weight of 200 pounds. I still managed to keep off over 65 percent of the weight I lost which is very good and I am very proud of my accomplishments since 2004. It has literally changed my life for the better on all levels. I am here to lose re-gained weight and to reach my initial goal weight. I am in no hurry. I am taking this one day at a time and I am in it for the long haul.

Surgery did not fix the head. It is a good tool and the best gift I have given to myself, but it was not the easy way out as many people think. Once the honeymoon period is over after the WLS it is up to the patient to keep the weight off.

On August 29, 2011-- I was admitted to Intensive Outpatient Eating Disorder Program to learn how to manage my binge eating disorder effectively. The program is wonderful indeed and will be instrumental in me reaching all of my goals. The focus of this program was how to eat and not diet. Weight loss was not a goal of the program. I gained 20 pounds in program. But I had to get thru a lot of stuff and the time I was released I had stopped gaining. I was discharged from program on December 3, 2011.

My tool is still working for me today. My head is still the issue. SO, the struggle continues. I will never beat myself up again. I fight the fine fight faithfully and positively every day. Because that is what will get me to my goals one day. Even though it may not show up on the scale every day -- Every day I make progress one way or another just by showing up, waking up and trying.

Giving up is not an option for me. Perseverance, Patience, & Positive thinking will help me reach my goals…… and the same is true for you too!! We have the power within us.

@JbeanR0212 ... Choosing "Island in the Sun" by Weezer as it's a song my Litttles and I used to dance to in the kitchen many years ago. Great times great memories, enjoy!!

Thanks, @JbeanR0212 ! How about I Can See Clearly Now by Johnny Nash or Walking on Sunshine by Katrina &the Waves! (Am I showing my age?) Or for pure sexy, Bailamos by Enrique Iglesias!

Be careful what you wish for huh? 😂 I added all 3 for you @SheliaBoneham because in text you sound so excited. That too is worth celebrating. MFP is turning me into a dancing fool & I have many to catch up on!!! Out of all the problems to have this one is the best. I might have to keep this plan moving forward.

    4th Goal - 165.9 ✅

Step Goal 50,000 at some point

I don't make myself timed weight loss goals, I just continue to work towards it.

    6/15 - 172.5

    Day/Weight/Steps/Active minutes/Comment

6/16 - 172.3* - 22,500 / 159. I am half way through my June watch challenge and I am just over my kms but its going to be hard to finish. Right now it says I need to do 13.1 km/day. I have 3 days that I am going to be pretty busy and getting 13 kms in could be hard. I'm not sure my watch knows that I have a desk job!! I'm looking forward to seeing some 6's .... Welcome all to the challenge!! Let's do this!!
6/17 - 171.1 - 17,100 / 100. Went to Costco it's out of town but did manage to get a few good steps in.
6/18 - 169.7* - 14,600. / 108. Happy to see that 6! Treated myself to a pedicure, very happy feet. Now I’m going to go push them and go for a long walk. Sorry feet! My oldest is in Vegas this weekend sending me lots of pictures of fun and sun. I am quite jealous. 4 years ago I was in Vegas and 19 lbs lighter. … I WILL BE THERE AGAIN! Well maybe not Vegas but some kind of a vacation. Have a wonderful Saturday All.
6/19 - 168* - 36,200 / 248. Got in a good walk 23 km. Then what I call a hot sauna bath and after made cookies for an upcoming Celebration of Life I’ve got some more to make and only tested 2!! Most of this loss is water and TMI and a balancing of some jump ups. Happy Father’s Day too all the Dads out there.
6/20 - 167.2 - 29,500 / 197. Had a good walk visited my Dad had a good dinner and an adult beverage. Looks like I need to adjust my calories and exercise calories. Have some concerns.
6/21 - 167.5* - 21,000 / 145. Smaller walk more calories no TMI. So I'm probably stable. My muscles are a little achy today, maybe the weather is changing and I'm hit the 'old person weather predictor' stage in life. lol Wishing you all a great day!!
6/22 - 167.4* - 21,500 / 170. Adding a few more calories (got some cheese puffs that I overheard a WW girl has as her best for her snack) , still working on my June walking challenge goal. SO called to say his part of the job has been cancelled now waiting to hear if that means he's coming home.
6/23 - 167 - 20,900 / 139. Got my 2 walks in, working well towards my 398.1 km goal and the sun is actually shining today!!
6/24 - 165.8* - 20,400 / 135. Watched my son play ball and the other one came to watch as well. Great night. Love Love summer nights!! Hit a new goal but there might be some bouncing, still taking it.

6/25 - 164.8 - 26,000 / 182. Got a good walk in as I’m going to be busy at advents this weekend. Then made cookies ate a few but maybe calculated wrong, I should have ate more. It’s warm out some of this loss is water for sure. See how I do today and tomorrow.

*Down 7.5 this round but I do think I was retaining at the beginning. Down 13 in the last 45 days which is still a high loss but levels it out some. Need to find an after dinner snack that won’t affect my sleep. I was having a small ice cream bar but I think the sugar/chocolate kept me up.

@KayHBE WOW! Just Wow!!!!!!! You are a walking machine!!! Curious what you average step count is at this point. You wanna give me another song too?

    Day/Weight/Comment
6/16 / 158.6 / Busy days at work. I got lots of steps as I did a few meetings as walks with my staff. It worked out well.
6/17 / 159 / Got lots done today in work and around the house. Even rode the Peloton before work started. Off to Vegas in the morning.
6/18 / 160.8 / On the plane to Vegas just waiting to take off. It's going to be much warmer than I'm used to! So excited.
6/19 / DNW / Great first full day in Vegas. We have walked so many steps already. I also was able to use the gym at our hotel this morning before we started our day. The food and drinks have been indulgent so I'm glad we're moving a lot at least.
6/20 / DNW / Hoping to hit the gym again today before the day gets going. Plans for a magic show today if we get tickets. Temperature is to continue getting warmer but so far the heat just feels nice although I did get a bit of heat rash on my legs yesterday. It has been good to walk in the evenings - so pleasant out!
6/21 / DNW / Getting double the step counts I'm used to walking around Vegas. I know from tracking that it won't be enough to offset all the calorie consumption. I'm not intentionally going crazy but I also know I'm indulging. I am proud of the fact I've gotten to the gym every morning. Today I did a walk/run Peloton working on a treadmill since that's a piece of equipment I don't have at home.
6/22 / DNW / Started the day with another gym workout - 45 minutes on the exercise bike and 30 on the treadmill. The exercise, while great, will in no way come close to offsetting the indulgent food and drink! Today is our last full day in Vegas... won't be back to my scale until the 24th and with water retention from the plane I won't be surprised if my weight starts with a 17-.
6/23 / DNW / Flying home from Vegas today. Back on the scale tomorrow!
6/24 / 175.4 / Well, if that isn't the craziest water retention you've ever seen after a 5 night vacation, I don't know what is!
6/25 / 173 / Good day yesterday with a Peloton ride, a longer walk and some strength. Meals were good and I enjoyed the day. Nice to be back into my routine.

@ashleycarole86 hang in there. I’m guessing we are about to see a huge dip coming your way at the start of the next round.

@britbuzzard When I went to the gym (pre-COVID) I went to different machines and since the HRM is tracking your heart rate, I think the calories burned are fairly accurate. I would put the monitor on in the restroom before I went out on the floor and take it off after my heart rate dropped back to about 90-95.

THERE ARE NO QUICK FIXES OR SHORTCUTS to achieving permanent change.
REMINDERS: One or two thoughts which might give heart to some of you.
    • Daily weight fluctuations are normal, and can be as much as 2 lbs a day for no apparent reason.
    • A general downward trend is what we are looking for.
    • Eating out can cause apparent weight gain because of high sodium levels, but usually goes quickly. Drinking extra water helps with this.
    • The human body does not react instantly to what we do to it. Sometimes it can take several days to see results.
    • Plateaus are a normal part of the process. The body is consolidating and adapting to your new way of eating/exercising.
    • The closer you get to your goal weight, the more difficult it becomes to lose weight, as your body becomes more efficient at using what you feed it.
    • When you exercise you build muscle, which takes up less space than fat, so use measurements as well as weight to assess your progress.
    • Getting/Staying fit and healthy requires a lifestyle change for most people.
Stick with the process. It DOES work! But it does take time, effort, and most of all, patience!

@KayHBE Just before last Christmas I asked my DH to pick up some Rebel ice cream. I only ate 1 or 2 bites on the days/nights I wanted a treat. That pint lasted over a month. Those bites were enough to satisfy me.

And thanks for the encouragement and to @JbeanR0212 as well... sort of expecting it to just keep tumbling off until I get much closer to my pre-vacation weight but we will see how it shakes out

I’m sorry to say there is no ‘secret’ involved. It took major attitude changes, and almost 5 years of hard work.
Basically? Consistent tracking, and CI < CO, day in, day out. Eat less/move more.

Change what you do, and you change the outcome

I gave myself a right royal kick up the backside when my Doctor told me in late 2014 that I would be in a wheelchair if I didn’t sort myself out. It was not an appealing prospect. I was 227 lbs, which was seriously impacting my mobility.

Since starting to use MFP in Jan 2015, I have gradually replaced my old unhealthy habits, one by one, for healthier sustainable options.

I’m not about to waste all that effort any time soon.

By the way, you’re doing great. Just keep taking things slow and steady. 🥰 the dance tunes.

@ashleycarole86 @JbeanR0212 @musicsax and others. I’m a very emotional person and it was an amazing experience. This little man will always be special. Thank you all. I should thank the security at the hospital who sent me on a wild goose chase to the wrong end of the hospital, too! LOL Lots of steps!

Been on MFP before to help maintain weight after a 40 lb loss in 2018/2019. Stopped logging in consistently & have gained 10 lbs back. This is my first time at the 10 day challenge, but it’s great motivation. Small intermediate goals help me to achieve the overall goal without getting overwhelmed. Going on a cruise to Scotland in August so need to release some weight before then.

    66 yrs, F, 5’ 6”
    R190 SW: 159.0
    R190 GW: 157.0
    OGW: 150.0

    Day/Weight/Comment
    6/16 159.0 workout – 1 hour cardio/weight training class.
    6/17 158.6 workout – 4.25 miles in 64:00 on treadmill @ 3% with 3 lb. weights
6/18 158.6 joined a new workout class – 1 hour boot camp. Trying to drink more water.
6/19 158.2 went over calories yesterday so surprised at the loss. Maybe I used more calories in class yesterday than MFP calculated. Workout – 4.25 miles in 64:00 on treadmill @ 3% incline, plus 2K on the Concept 2 rower.
6/20 158.8 looks like the extra calories from Saturday finally caught up with me. Trying to be very mindful of what I eat today. Rest day from exercise.
6/21 158.2 stayed below calorie goal yesterday. 1 hour cardio/weight training class.
6/22 157.2 signed up to wear a heart rate monitor in the weight class tomorrow to check actual calories burned. 4.25 miles in 64:00 on treadmill @ 3% incline with 3 lb. weights.
6/23 157.2 I hour cardio/weight training class. Heart rate monitor said I burned 569 calories which is much better than the 218 calories calculated by MFP. Planned my remaining meals on the food log & should stay well under my goal calories as long as I don’t eat anything extra.
6/24 157.4 Now I read that heart rate monitors may not give accurate readings for mixed cardio/weight training classes. Maybe I’ll just take the average of the two calculations. Treadmill workout today – 4.25 miles in 64:00 at 3% incline with 3 lb weights.
6/25 157.8 Stayed below calorie count yesterday so a bit disappointed at this slight upward swing. Still overall a 1.2lb drop - onward & downward hopefully.
