:) Working on a difficult project for only a few minutes a day has helped me accomplish many things over the last ten years. At the moment, it may look like nothing is happening and then looking back, it is amazing to see the progress.

:) Every day we think that it must be the last day for zucchini and tomatoes and then the next day there are more. I love my veggies and I love that I can share them with my neighbors.

No work so got to do Biggest Loser Last Chance Workout DVD then some pilates then a walk around the block. Tomorrow work.

Tracey – cute table. That would absolutely be for pip and M

Heather – well, we have two cleaners – called “left” and “right”….lol

barbie – I just had the eye exam you describe – looking at flashes and clicking when you saw one.

Ginny – Vince thinks like you about cleaning. He feels we get more done if we work in separate areas. I feel like we get more done when we work together.

Cut up some of the boxes. I know Vince said he would do it, but lately he’s been procrastinating so much that I just did it. This time our recycling can isn’t real full so I filled it up. Recycling goes out tomorrow. Probably the next time recycling goes out he can break up more boxes (or I will) Update: I did it.

Allie – how nice of you to be sure that Alfie doesn’t starve to death….:)

Debbie – beautiful ornaments. You certainly are creative

Got Vince to go to the store to look for new chairs for the kitchen. Honestly, I really think that the one we found that will probably do is a bit too expensive. I would rather look at other stores. I’m going to try to convince Vince that we should look some more. Then went to WalMart for a few things since Vince needed milk. I asked him if he needed bananas and he didn’t say anything. I just noticed that he does.

Lanette – between you and Rebecca I don’t know who has the most food porn. Lovely.

Walked to Food Lion and got a few things. As I was walking back one of the neighbors asked if I wanted a ride home. I just declined but I know she’s concerned about my walking to the store. I told her how I went (walking on people’s lawn, then on a sidewalk) and she seemed fine with it.

There’s supposed to be a gathering/HOA meeting. I’m sure it’s to elect a new president, etc. I honestly thought it a bad idea to have all the HOA members go one year. I realize they’d been doing it for like 10 years, but to maintain some continuity I really think at least one member should have stayed on. But then again, what do I know? Anyway, it’s supposed to be 10/1, that’s a Saturday so I’ll probably go into work early and hopefully get home in time.

Next Mon I have a dermatologist appt. at 9. I made this appt. a year ago and totally forgot about it. So I’m going to ask the manager if I can go in late Sun before, do the prep, then go in early Mon just to do the tomatoes. Then hopefully go back to peel and slice onions that I usually do for when they get their delivery on Tues. This way I can just be in the back room, separating them. I’m out of Jerry’s way while he’s putting up the truck and out of the delivery guy’s way. I have a feeling she’ll be OK with this. But I do want to run it by her first.

Kim We put in ductless 10 years ago. We were able to do 2 bedrooms and family room. We updated kitchen unit. Also got new dehumidifier for basement this year. House is much more comfortable in the hot weather. Just make sure hire a company that installs them frequently. You do have to put unit on an outside wall, and they sit near the ceiling. It also is better if outside wall is not the front of your home.

Kim - That electrical situation must be driving you crazy! I think I would beg, borrow, or steal the money to fix that. I remember the relief I felt when we finally called in someone to fix our downstairs toilet flush. We had lived with it being 'tricky' since we moved in and just accepted it as being that way. Then it gave up the ghost altogether. We got the plumber to look at it and he completely fixed it in around an hour. Can't believe we put up with it for soooo long, having to explain to guests exactly how to flush it!! :o You won't know yourself when it's done!

Awake early, in the front bedroom, with the turquoise cushions. :D

Just done my first ever 'reel' on Instagram! :o:p The first, more complicated one, I tried to make didn't upload properly, so I tried a simpler version. Very simple. I've been meaning to have a go for a while now, and have been inspired by the grandchildren who are prepared to experiment and give anything a go. They don't fear making mistakes and starting again. :D
DON'T LET THE PERFECT BE THE ENEMY OF THE GOOD.
It's a small thing, but mine own. Took me an hour or two to work out how to do it, but I got there in the end.

I know some of you already 'follow' me - thank you so much for the 'likes'. :) Any other curious folks can find me as heathereylesiam.

    Pip Bravissima!
Sue ash and on alert stats  Hope the wind shifts soon, your air clears and you don’t need to evacuate. Stevens Pass and Hwy 2 closed ?!? :astonished:
Heather, surprise to me that yes, it is a good feeling. Really like being able to see what I’m looking for and put my hand right on in instead of rooting around through all the stuff. Kind of like the satisfaction I got when I changed to the Kondo-style origami of Joe’s tshirts, my sox and underwear. Thinking reorganizing/rearranging thoughts about the office of which the first step is box up the donations pile and take it to the thrift store ;) SMH. Johnny and Joe must be brothers from another mother. Don’t think it’s the money (most is mine) but the disruption that puts Joe so firmly against any remodeling. He reluctantly agreed to the new roof as it was necessary to protect the house. Totally oblivious to all the aesthetic things that bother me. I love our setting but not our 1980s vintage mobile home interior. Then again, perhaps if I took better care of it I’d like it better :naughty: In any case I’m thankful for our peace. Brava for sending off the article. the cushion covers.
Lanette thanks for the tip about mushroom containers, for smaller organizers. Be not deceived, that is ONLY one of three kitchen utensil/junk drawers. The other two are double layered thanks to wire riser shelves. Not sure can further organize them without purging something I actually do use at least once a year… HWY12 closed between Packwood and WhitePass? Remember driving through there on vacation from high desert and so admiring the dense forest.
Beth and Kay prayers and ((hugs))
Kay and Barbie, Joe hates that test too. Doesn’t bother me ;)
Machka  the experiences rebuilding some of the lost memories. :heartbreak:
Thanks Ginny, I’ll look for the Paisley Farm pickled Brussels Sprouts at our local Fred Meyers, near the other pickled specialties in jars.
Rebecca what a great, very hard but greatly loving gift your listening is to your sister.
    Allie, always proud of you!
Kim your good ceiling insulation is crucial to the feasibility of a ductless system Whew!
Suebdew Joe won’t even discuss leaving our 15 heavily wooded acres for independent living situation, The only way he’ll leave is either under wildfire evacuation orders or “…in a pine box.” I would find it very very hard to live in an apartment style situation with neighbors after adjusting to the peace and quiet of our little doublewide in the woods above the sea…
Karen Oh that painting and hallelujah for winning that auction. Whoopee!

There was more, but I hear Joe hinting that it’s time for me to come sit with him…

Did I tell you all that I cleaned out a good sized closet? Very pleased with myself over this. My husband and I have been listening to a series on Civilization which discusses a lot of the art in various civilizations at different periods in history. So interesting to think about life in different parts of the world in the various centuries and how much trade or cultural exchange each country had with others. I have an interview with a new caretaker for 8 hours a week on Tuesday. She is an actual nurse. I am pinching myself. She is at home with her toddlers and just wants to work a little bit. I pray this goes through because I could use the help!

    Rosemarie from GA

Rosemarie Oh this sounds great! I hope you love her. This could make a big difference. Keeping my fingers crossed for you and your husband.

Amen!!! I never win anything, and usually avoid competitive situations like the plague. I couldn't believe it. I paid for it this morning and it will be here in about a week. Yay!!!

Lanette – You’re almost making me wish I liked raw tomatoes. I don’t, but aesthetically, that’s a beautiful plate of food.

Kim – The ductless definitely sounds like the way to go, but yeah, I’d still be staggering at $15,000. Anytime I call anyone to do any kind of work here, my assumption is we’ll be paying at least $1,000, no matter what the fix is. The recent A/C fix ended up just needing to clean 25 years of schmutz and replace the capacitor but that small amount was still $600. We will eventually have to replace the A/C unit but hope the recent fix will keep it patched together for a couple more years. It would have been unbearable here this summer without it.

Karen – Love the idea you’ve been able to get your brother a guitar. His self-portrait is beautiful, but I do find it sad. I think he may see himself as not having a voice other than through his art and music, as he has not drawn a mouth at all. My heart goes out to him and to you. You must love him very much.

SueBDew – So glad you’re largely OK after the mower thing. Take care of yourself.

RoseMarie – Hope the nurse you’re interviewing works out to get you a day each week to relax and gain your energy back. I think of you often.

Barbara – I think I mentioned that Corey has occasionally made noises about eventually selling this place. I just keep giving him the stink eye on that subject and keep getting him to help me create workarounds that will make sure that I’m able to accomplish things outside without help. I’ve already lived longer in this house than I have ever lived anywhere as an adult. I want to continue to do so.

KJ – Yep, four years in, we’re still continuing the push to renovate one piece at a time affordably while continuing to pay off the house. It’s rewarding, and educational, too. We just couldn’t resist that one last house that “had potential!” Translate to "lots of hard work," and you're closer. Two optimists, I'm thinking. There are worse things.

Carla - Hoping for the best outcome, but in my experience, it's not always what we think is best at the time.

Heather, you've been inspirational, I've been poking around the interwebs looking at websites and mulling over building out a newsletter on this auto-immune disease journey with the VA. Just poking still, but you keep me thinking it's accomplishable. Just don't want to fall down the rabbit-hole without a roadmap. Working on it.

It has not even hit 60 degrees outside this morning, and when I waved Corey off to work in the early morning, it wasn't even 50 degrees yet. I could feel the season change in the air, not quite here, but it was coming. Fall and spring are still my favorites.

    Later y'all,
    Love,
    Lisa in AR
