Heather - we are so blessed to be grandparents in this era. I think the young adults raising them are incredible, they listen to them and allow them to have opinions and encourage them to be who they are without apology.
My Grandson is growing his hair long, I am not a fan. Last night I asked him if anyone besides me was bothered by it and he said just his Dad and I, even his great grandparents aren’t saying anything. 😂. My daughter says, it’s only hair it will grow back, get cut, get coloured and she is not willing to have battles over it.
Your son and DDIL sure are wonderful, like you I would be beat. We never allowed our girls to be involved in something everyday because of our work schedules.

Carol - that looks great. I love your cabinet/hutch. DH should be prepared, it seems to me you are just getting started. Lol
Lisa - he is getting his gift tomorrow night. I wanted DH to see him when he opened it too. So they are coming for supper.
Karen - I don’t know how the lady at the group home doesn’t have to provide an accounting with receipts for your brothers money. We hold money in trust for some of our residents and we have to balance to the penny in our monthly audits.
Thanks Debbie - the constant upgrading scares me. DH would always want the best and newest until he loses interest about 5 years in.
Pip - that’s unnerving with all of the changes. Glad you are off them.
Lanette- thank you he has that way about him. The ceramics shop I go to had a kids camp this summer. The Grands went. Every week since the owner tells me how much he impressed her and he just keeps telling everyone about him. He’s been leaving impressions since he started talking.
Debbie - I hope something changes for you soon. I have been where you are, it’s not easy at all.
Vicki - the Grands sure do grow fast. I’m noticing already that mine have social lives and aren’t as free to come here.
Katla - I’m so sorry for you and your DH. Here we have busses for seniors that take you door to door. It might not hurt to ask someone.
Michele - I have used mostly acrylics, so I just paint over again. I have only done one glaze project and for that I washed it with a damp corner of paper towel. I had caught it immediately though.
I started a new piece tonight. I’m going to rush doing this piece so Lauryn can have it for Halloween.

Just heard from DD. My husband is being sent to a facility similar to the last one where he stayed last summer. It is an unknown location to me, but DD seems to know where it is. I have no way to get there unless she is able to take me. She has many other responsibilities to her workplace, and not a lot of time to take me to see him. I am sad because I am unlikely to see him for who knows how long.
I’m sure my daughter will try to take me to see him when she can but she is very busy with a challenging career and her own family.
This is so hard to be separated, again.

Because of your situation, you could be classified as a vulnerable adult. You should check into being assigned a social worker for yourself. They can help you to arrange a PCA to drive you from where you are at to your husband's location. That's the type of care assistance a couple of my family members run. Places like Home Alone, 60 Helping 60. And many others. You can even check into for yourself. You seem very capable of using technology. You can do it on your phone. Even call the place that you were staying with your husband at the assisted care facility and ask for help. If your daughter has even a little spare time she can help. I arranged that type of assistance for my mother. She made a little too much money so she had to do a buy down. I'm going to be working for that type of business a couple days of the week to keep me busy when I get back to Arizona. My job would be a companion or, driver, assist with shopping and so forth.💞7 -
My daughter is a gift. She has been able to find the facility where DH is now. Thanks to her I know he is doing okay and I will be able to visit him soon. I feel better, knowing he is in a good place. I hope to see him tomorrow.9

Feeling restless. Not sure why. I'm between projects and not sure exactly what is my next step. I've several ideas brewing. I've been using my energy up on cleaning,
but I know I need to spread my wings on something new.
Tracey - Max toyed with the idea of growing his hair last year, but it didn't happen. His best friends all had luscious, flowing locks. Really fabulous. I was jealous. I think now he is at a traditional school that won't happen, but I don't know what their hair policy is.
My elder son followed 'grunge' when he was around 15, so he had beautiful blonde hair down to his chest! Now he is bald and shaven.
Hair is such an expression of our individuality. For me, my hair is soooo important. When it all fell out in chemo, I was devastated. It was by far the worst thing of my treatment.
As you might imagine, I am a great believer in us all expressing ourselves and staying true to our real natures. Your grandchildren sound as if they are well on the way down that path. You are doing a great job, rooting for them and batting for them. We all need unconditional regard. But it's also right to give our true opinions. It's OK to disagree.

It's because she isn't truthful. She will falsify records in a heartbeat. I am consulting an attorney but I don't want Gary kicked out of there before November when (hopefully) he will be able to move.

(((Hugs))) dear girl. We all hope you can see him soon. Console yourself with the fact that he where he can be looked after. 💕💖💕Machka — You are absolutely correct about DH. He does need care. He has evidently been transferred to a care facility. I hope to be there to see him soon, possibly tomorrow. Keeping my fingers crossed that he is doing well and hope that I can see him soon.

Just brief check-in. Have been reading daily.
Katla-like others have said, check with your residence and see if they have transportation options, They should at least be able to help you arrange something. It is good he is receiving the care he needs. You need to take care of you to stay healthy for him.
Karen-it is so good to hear about your efforts on your brother's behalf. Not everyone has someone to advocate for them. I understand you being cautious with current situation-but am glad you have a plan!

Busy day today. Morning meeting out of town (considering doing Zoom), PT in afternoon, food pantry tonight. Working half day tomorrow. Get latest Covid vaccine at 1. After that will go to grocery and get laundry and some other weekend stuff done Friday afternoon in case I get hit with reaction over weekend. Vaccines of all sorts tend to hit me a bit hard for a day or so. Therefore, whether it is flu, or tetanus or whatever, I try to get the shot on Friday and plan easy weekend. I will spend most of weekend continuing with the declutter and cleanup prep for surgery.
Off to shower and head into the office.

Teresa from NY again I could use some friends and the motivation and support and to give back I did a life change with my habits of eating I am proud of myself for how far I have come It has been a struggle at times some days are easier than others

Carla: Sorry you had someone with ALS in your life. I have been helping my husband for years, but the last 27 months have been more intense. I told him last night, he would have to go to sleep earlier. I can't living on his schedule. I need to go to sleep early and get up early.

Michele: Yes, I lived in the Back Bay near Copley and Brookline. I went to Bost Univ and later on to Suffolk U. In my early 20's I did sailing on the Charles' River. Later towards the North, I did some wind surfing on a lake. I wasn't good enough to go into the ocean. I would have ended up in Britian! Ahhh I gave my son an IP...I wonder if he uses it!
Teresa: This group has given me new energy! I realize my life is not so different from anyone else's life. I have clutter and struggle to clean and to stay fit and intellectually challenged. I love hearing what everyone is doing!
I did get out yesterday and the weather was better. Today I have a caretaker until 2pm so hope to walk and get some fresh air! I have some dry cleaning to pick up and need to do this!

Katla- I am happy your hubby is getting help with the recovery. Sorry about your being separated for the time being. If your assisted living community doesn't offer a transportation system, have your daughter look into your town/village's transportation options. I live in a small town, but we have little mini-buses (Harbor Transit). You call to schedule a ride (remember to schedule your return trip as well) and they come, pick you up, drop you off. etc. Ride cost is minimal. Most businesses like this one will also allow you to set up rides at the same time every day.
Hair- My DH absolutely hates seeing long hair on little boys (or teens, or men for that matter). I am of the opinion that if a girl can have a short haircut, then a boy should be allowed to have it long. Hair IS a way for people to express themselves. I just ask that whether boy or girl; get it off the kid's face and out of their eyes! I have seem so many little girls struggle with tasks because their pretty long hair is in their eyes, mouth, etc. Syrup, glue, food, paint, everything gets in it when it is down. I also don't mind the fashion of men wearing skirts/dresses/heels or make up. Fashion always changes. What's good for the goose...
I am a bit depressed. I have four part time spots open (M,W,F) and am having a hard time filling them! I have had two families come to interview so far. I think the main reason I am not getting responses is because the kids have to be over 18 mos old. I also think people are a little put off by my more "rustic" back yard. I have a garden, a bare wood structure "tee-pee" that I have harvested all of the green beans and plants/vines, a fire pit filled with flowers, a child sized table, toy storage, and some open spaces under trees designated for imaginative play. Not your average child's play area; but more open ended. People around here are very put off that I don't have a play structure or two. (There is a playground and beach across the street) Oh well.

HAHAHA! Yes, still employed Lanette. In fact, she never even answered me. SO frustrating. But VERY long story short, had an issue with printing the other day and the tech guy from our building came to my office yesterday, saw my set up and said (in not these words) "WTH?!?" I told him my long story and he was slightly familiar with the tech ticket that had been turned in LONG AGO. (but nothing done about it) So, 1-he said he'd get to working on it and 2-he said that if they didn't get it figured out soon I could use his monitor bc he never did. WELL, lo and behold, about 10 minutes after I got home from work, I got an email from tech and ALL MY NEW STUFF is at the building and when can they come set me up tomorrow? (today) WOOHOO!!! So I'm off to work early today to buy donuts! LOL

Today I will go through more boxes to post to Buy Nothing, and go to the auction house to pick up Gary's writing table.
Thinking something quick & easy for dinner - salad & shrimp scampi, or wilted spinach & bacon salad, or maybe baked potatoes with yummy stuff on them. Nothing elaborate to fix.
Watching the auction site has been an education the last 2 weeks. Some things go for far more than they are worth, and then there are items like a Sigi original which originally sold for $1800 or more, going for a fraction of that. Here is Sigi art if you are not familiar:
