Popping in to check on everyone. Will up date stats when have more time.
Karen Fingers, toes, and eyes all X’d that the mixup gets straightened out, the ID and birth certificate arrive in time to hold the apartment for your brother. Whew! The irises print is beautiful, Will you hang some of your brother’s art? Think it would go well with the irises.
Lanette Covid’s “silver lining”
Carol could you walk a shelter dog? Our shelter here has a program where volunteers walk shelter dogs. It helps to calm them, burn off any excess energy and makes them more adoptable.
Barbie, Jake and Bessie (((hugs held extra long)))
Rori Led Zeppelin (tribute) and Ru Paul, that’s quite a combination!
Debbie I had a Gunne Sacks dress I loved to pieces. Wore it to every Ren Faire for a decade. Then I got married and fat. Wonder whatever happened to that dress, did I donate it?
Tracey Michala in her pink glasses. Made me think of a younger version of Elle from Legally Blonde.
Machka I’m with you about sewing. Not my gift. Fingers X’d MRI shows issue easily and noninvasively fixed. My vote is for PT.
Welcome back @jam0525 Jeannie from NM. Was it you who shared the ab rehab exercise routine your daughter used after surgery? Think I still have a copy around here somewhere…
RvRita so glad that spilt tooth is gone gone gone. Such pain for so long must have been cruel. Glad its behind you now.
Welcome @leighFC2E Leigh from FL! You can do this!
Vicki back to OT and long shifts again? :noway:
Rebecca the pics.
Katla, Betsy, Viv, Sue, Pip, Lisa, Heather, Terri and everyone else I missed, know I read your posts and my thoughts are with you.

It was so lovely last night. DH and I took a taxi over as it was pouring with rain. We knew the girls were out playing football, so we joined my son in the kitchen. He was cooking up a storm! Steak, French fries, sweet potato, broccoli, mozzarella and tomato salad, green salad, cucumber. Some was cooking in the oven, but most of it was finished in a cheffy fashion on big griddles on the top of the gas stove. Of course, it made a lot of smoke, but the flavour was heavenly.
His attitude to entertaining is completely different to mine! I want everything to be easy, and prepared ahead, so I don’t have to be slaving over a hot stove at the last minute, and can can drift around cooly in nice clothes, and he likes to be performing acrobatics with grill tongs and juggling multiple dishes! Very manly! He was a professional chef for a while in his student days, but has always been keen and knowledgeable.
The table setting though leaves a lot to be desired. In the end I set it, but with odds and ends of old mats and cutlery.
The cake was fabulous, and he makes his own honeycomb.
I'm inspired to try it next weekend. Have any of you made it? Kim?

Barbara, The problem will be choosing which of my brother's art to display. May have to rotate some pieces if I can't narrow it down enough.

Wonderful photo of Olivia, Karen. That one of her in the hospital with all the tubes is still fresh in my memory.
How is the ballerina, Josephine?
Love to all the kids we are linked to in this thread.

Morning ladies
About sewing
I made 1 dress I wore to an 8th grade dance and I remember it was red gingham with a tie in back.
But the sewing teacher we had wasn't nice.. she was an old maid spinster named Miss Ramage and she reminded us girls of the wicked witch of the West..
Now on the other hand our Home Ec teacher Mrs Chapman was wonderful and she ,had us try so many different things like artichoke ,I still have some of her printed recipes and that was from 7-8 grade..
Well Alfie woke me up
So now im up.6 -

Yesterday I drove past our little ballerina's house and realized we hadn't had a recent update. I'll email her mama today.1 -
I spent a good time with DH at the nursing home where he is staying now. This facility employs highly skilled nurses. He has been there to recover from a heart attack. In the recent past he has been hospitalized because of three severe heart attacks. He seems to be improving his health now and is getting ready to return to our apartment. Our daughter spent a good while buying shirts for him yesterday and I will be washing them today.
Katla, now in Illinois
I miss my house and friends in Oregon, but DH’s health is improving and our daughter is nearby.

Happy early morning from the wilds of Arkansas... OK, not that wild, but not exactly urban, either....
Woke up feeling well, first time in a few days. I'm so grateful when I do. Not just grateful to feel well, but grateful to wake up. Not being morbid, honest. Just glad I'm here.
So grateful too, for the images of your lives - Rebecca, you and all the women in your family are beautiful, and when your sister was able to put her sadness to the side for the moment, the smiles were just blinding; Karen - thank you for the pic of Olivia and her mom. Those blond curls just slay me; Heather, your beautiful Edie, and Tracey, your gorgeous little Michaela looks so pleased with her glasses! It's nice when they're old enough to understand that they need them. I remember my sister's tussles with my three-year-old niece when she would rip them off every time my sister turned her back--my sis found them all over the house!
I have been off the antidepressant for a bit now (and weaned down from it very carefully, I might add.) It's been interesting to see my gamut of emotions return. Don't worry, I'm not wandering around the yard behind the little animals--Egg wouldn't put with it for a minute anyway! I just didn't realize how flat my affect was until I started feeling the emotions again. I'm laughing more, which is great, but I'm also crying more too. Cried on my sister's shoulder on the phone yesterday (hey, she said I could. )
After the last few years, I really needed to give Corey a break and lay all that emotion on someone else. I owed him to try to find someone else who could listen to me fall apart. He's been my rock, but even rocks wear over time. For most of the men I've known, the worst thing you can do to them is to hand them an issue they can't resolve at any level.
Anyway - today is a better day. Hope everyone has a good day.
Love y'all,
Lisa in AR

RvRita,
Yes, I have been to Bottomless Lakes and Roswell many times. I will be heading to Alamogordo sometime this winter. Maybe we can meet up.

It is a cold and rainy Saturday morning, here, on the shores of Lake Michigan. It has been cooler this past week, with daytime highs of around mid 60sF and Thursday night/Friday morning the temp dropped to 36F! Our heat turned on. The kids and I harvested one of our watermelons. They are the "personal" size. The flesh was a light pink and the seeds were white. I am not sure if that is normal for that kind/strain of melon. But it was delicious and the kids were thrilled to have it for snack. There are two melons left in our patch, but they are quite a bit smaller. I am not sure they will have time to ripen before frost hits and destroys them. The kids and I have decided we want to have another garden next spring and we are talking about what we want to grow. We have also been talking about different spots/ways to grow things. I may see about borrowing a couple of sun lamps/lights and starting the seeds in my basement in late March/early April.
My DYS applied for a job with DTE (energy) in June. They are expanding service in Michigan, and there is quite a rigorous process to get a job there. Tests, interviews, more interviews. Anyway, he is on his second set of interviews for a job either in Grand Rapids (which is about 25 miles away) or in Traverse City (which is about 150 miles away). He has said he will take either. I had to have a talk with him a couple of weeks ago, because he said that he doesn't feel right moving away and leaving me to take care of DH by myself. This just about broke my heart. I told him, that although his thoughtfulness is touching and makes my mama heart burst; under NO circumstances is he to limit his career choices and life choices because he feels he needs to stay here and care for us. When I told my DH, he got all teary and had a talk with DYS himself. AFter that, DH came to me and agreed that he needs to get insurance and get back to the doctor. SO...today we are signing him up for insurance. Within the next year, he will see a rheumatologist, neurologist, gp, and have his kidney stone removed. A big halleluia and loud AMEN! It is like a small miracle when men decide to listen to us (although they won't admit that is what they are doing) and go see a doctor.
Rebecca- Lovely pics of you, your sis, and niece! Enjoy your visit with your son, dil, and beautiful Athena!
Heather- Oh my! Edie is a beauty! I think it is wonderful that your son cooks/bakes and enjoys doing it! A great skill to have and I BET very appreciated by his wife!
Karen VA- Olivia! Such a sweet face! Pretty mama, too!
Allie- I never think about Great Lake cruises! I always think about cruising oceans. Mackinac Island is a wonderful little place to visit. We are coming to the time of year when they stop all traffic to and from the island. Soon, it will just be supply ferries and sleds (once the lake freezes over). The island is quite lovely in the spring and summer. Lots of lilac growing. Is your friend visiting during the "Somewhere In Time" event? It was filmed there in the the Grand Hotel and on the grounds. Jane Seymour is there nearly every year.
Well, I need to get busy. The longer I sit, the less I tend to do during the day. Thinking of you all! Sending love! ttfn xoxoxoxo KJ (Kelly)

KELLY ~ Fingers crossed that your son gets the job. And, praises that your husband finally acknowledges that he needs help that modern medical science can provide. Sure wish my husband would bite the bullet and tend to his eye, teeth, and knees.

I don't know if I ever want to give up the flatness. I've come to really like it.
Someone at work commented that I'm so calm about everything ... a few other women there can be somewhat volatile, apparently, so maybe it was "calm by comparison".
I've never been one to laugh much, so I haven't lost much on that side, but I've been able to deal with things that would have had me a raging, crying wreck much better.
I'm glad to hear you're having a better day.

KJ- she took a bus trip, with Friendship tours staying at swanky hotels along the way and most meals included ..went to the rock and roll hall of fame in ohio, stayed in a swanky hotel on a lake in new york ,they are having a grand old time.. think its a 9 day trip and it was 2,000 but I would be able to handle trip like that .. especially with a good friend..
Today is my nephews 30th birthday .. love that boy to pieces, but dont get to see him enough.3 -
Heather and all,
The news about Josephine the ballerina is tough. Josie is in good spirits, but her lung tumors (metastases from the spinal tumor) have been stubborn, preventing a stem cell transplant that MD Anderson had hoped to perform if the chemo/radiation treatments could shrink the tumors by 30% first. So now they are going to St Judes in hopes of being in a trial. Josie keeps her spirits up, and is still the sweetest girl ever.
Here is the photo her mom sent me this morning:

Glad you're back, Jeannie.
Hi Leigh! Welcome!
Oh Vicki, I hope you're right and she quits. Those kinds are not fun.
Looks like loads of fun, Rebecca! You're all just beautiful.
Lanette, I hope you start feeling better soon. I hate allergies and head colds. I'm sorry it's morphed into that. You didn't need that too! And an earache! Those can be painful.
WOAH Heather, that cake looks amazing! Is that toffee on the side? I want some!!! LOL. Happy Birthday EDIE!
Kelly, that's amazing! You have a wonderful son. You've obviously raised him right and now he's got to fly. Thank God your hubs realizes that too. Maybe this is the catalyst to fix himself.
Not much new here. This week went GREAT! Work is finally coming together and calming down. Went in one morning and my new, large monitor was completely wonky! Scared the bejeezes out of me, but I emailed Chelsea and Sam (my wonderful techies) and they came down within minutes and it turned out to be a simple reboot. (unplug/replug... which I wasn't comfortable doing myself until they gave me permission... which I have now! LOL) Chelsea said it was probably just that the monitor got "snagged" on an app when I left for the day? Okay. So they gave me some advice on what to do every day when I leave. I LOVE my techies. We also have a building newsletter that has "shout outs" where we can "shout out" to people who have done extra special things over the last week. So I added both of them to that yesterday. I'm really starting to feel like I'm fitting in and enjoying the building.
Not doing anything special this weekend, but it getting colder here in MN too! YIKES. 56F right now, but I refuse to turn on the furnace just yet. It's September for heaven's sake! Supposed to be in the 60s-70s this coming week. I am not quite ready for that yet, but it is better than 80s-90s so I am NOT going to complain. (really, I'm not) lol
HAPPY WEEKEND!
Love and Blessings, Carla, in MN6 -
DH is improving and I hope to visit him this evening. DD and I stopped to buy more shirts for him last night. They are currently in the drier. I’m looking forward to seeing him again, later today. 😊 💕8

Is a BMI shift a non-scale victory? I guess not. So, a scale victory then... As of Thursday, I am no longer "obese," I am merely "overweight," with a BMI of 29.8. Actually at 29.3 this morning, which is pleasing, but I don't depend on it...
We're out of caulking, so I couldn't do much about the first task I wanted to complete... so I grabbed the weed trimmer and spent a half hour cleaning up the area out front of the fence. Sweated down, but cooling down now. Small bursts of intense energy expenditure seem to suit me best right now, then plenty of recovery time.
Lanette - hope the plague lets you go soon.
Katla - enjoy your visit!
Time for a shower....
Later y'all,
Love,
Lisa7
