:) It's time to turn the page on the calendar and use this new page as a clean slate to add to the good habits and plans we've been cultivating.

:) The name of the thread is Women Ages 50+ but all women are welcome. This is a great place to visit regularly for support and encouragement.

:) Be sure to bookmark the thread so you can find it again. Also sign your post with a name or nickname and a location so we can get to know each other better.

:) I look forward to this new month and to this opportunity to renew my good habits and attitudes. I'm glad you will all be there with me.

Just finished my second walk at the wetlands- sure is a lot nicer in the evening with a friend. Nice and cool. We finished it by the light of the moon.
Finishing up the day with just over 20,000 steps/9 miles.
May or may not walk MIL's dog tomorrow morning. Most likely I will. Wish it was totally up to me(and dh wouldn't give me attitude if I dont)- I won't do a really long one. Planning just a 30 min but will depends on the weather.

Recently, I decided to book a full skin check as I'm 55 and I've never had a proper skin check before! And yesterday I went for the skin check.

If you've never been for one before, it is rather confronting with photos that make us look about 115 years old.

The result: I have skin cancer.

The doctor thinks it is only basal cell carcinoma which is very common and not very dangerous. However, I will have 3 biopsies at the beginning of November to check what each of the spots really is. Then we'll discuss treatment.

The doctor is almost 100% sure one of the spots is at least basal cell carcinoma - it's showing all the signs. She is maybe 85% sure about the second spot. And she's about 50/50 on the third spot.

Machka so sorry about the skin cancer. Sounds like you got checked just in time! Here's hoping that clearing that up will lower stress on your body and help with the other symptoms.

Regarding Health - Gotta Love Getting Older

Skin Cancer - one of the spots is on my nose, which has had a lot of sun exposure over the years. I've suspected something might be up for some time ... like a couple years ... but with COVID and everything, I haven't gone to the doctor much. At times it would heal up and I wouldn't think about it, then it would flare up again. It has flared up again recently and the skin specialist is about 99.9% sure it is skin cancer. She is most concerned about that one because it is showing all the signs visibly and also in the photos. That one will likely have to be surgically removed, but we'll wait and see.

One of the spots is on my right hip. I did show that spot to a GP who passed it off as "old age". It has doubled in size since then and the skin specialist is about 85% sure it is cancer but of course, the biopsy will confirm.

The third spot was a surprise to me a mole kind of under my left arm. I didn't think anything of it, but she was concerned.

I will get biopsies on all three - a 3 mm diameter chunk removed, 1 stitch, take it easy for a couple days kind of thing in early November.

I have also been diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Disease, and I'm waiting to see the specialist about that to determine what stage I'm in and what he wants to do. I have kidney stones which haven't helped matters and the way my kidneys have been feeling lately, I'm pretty sure I've got a few rattling around in there right now. I also have a large and growing cyst on my left kidney.

And I have a mystery thing which causes my lower legs and feet to go numb, especially when I exercise. I had a nerve conduction study a week ago and am waiting to hear the results of that. My physiotherapist wants me to go for an MRI of my knee area, but I need a GP to approve that.

Which means I need to find a GP!! My GP and my back-up GP have both left the practice and I'm not really liking the remaining choices so far.
