    I "get" what's happening but it's irrelevant to me so far.

    When it's no longer irrelevant, then I'll consider other options which I certainty know exist.

    Don't worry about it - you can enter all your foods manually and if you don't want to there are other apps with a free barcode scanner - don't sweat the small stuff 😁

    Agree with these posters - I rarely use it as more often than not it brings up the wrong product anyway.
