:)Rita, your challenge sounds great but posting pictures may not work for me. I write a gratitude list every morning after thinking about the day before with a focus on all this is right with my world. Gratitude is an important life tool for me.

So much has happened! Yesterday I woke up with terrible achy back and tightness in abdomen. Cried and moaned until Lee came home from gym. He has terrible bedside manner so I was really harsh to him, but finally went to the ER in Coupville. We waited from 11 am to 4pm, but things went well afterwards. Got IV with fluids then pain meds and nausea meds. Had a CT scan and doctors informed me that my gallbladder has gallstones. So not intestinal but the gallstones moving, and irritating. I then had a fairly painful ultrasound so that confirmed them. I was given a specialist to have my on base clinic process a referral to. ER doc gave me pain meds and nausea meds for last night. I slept so well,v without pain.
Today was the on base doctor appointment and she looked at my CT scan and noticed my kidneys had stones in one as well. You'd think the ER doctors would've noticed that, but they were concentrating on the gallbladder. I have a referral to the surgeon for the gallbladder, and another referral for a gastriologist for the kidneys. Hoping to just have gallbladder removed, and kidney stones ultra sonic pulverized, or surgery to remove the stones. Passing them I have heard is so painful, and my tolerance to pain is really nill.
So today the pharmacy gave me narcotic for pain, nausea medicine , a Pepcid for heartburn, some ear drops because all my hot baths gave me swimmers ear!
We stopped at the commissary and I got some more Ensure, because that's an easy breakfast for me. Then fat free milk for my cereal. Part of keeping the gallbladder happy with stones in it is eating less fat. I bought a 05% fat creamer for my coffee. Then dairy free cheddar shredded cheese (made with chick peas) for my salads, tacos, and wraps. Bought a wheat wrap for sandwiches, tacos etc. Bought fat free bleu cheese dressing, low fat cottage cheese, and light sour cream. Bought a lean steak I plan on cutting up to have on salads, stirfry, or wraps.
I have on the kitchen table chips that have 5 grams of fat, olive bruschetta, my chocolate bar, hollandaise sauce mix (made with a lot of butter). Then all my oil dressings, guacamole cups, pudding cups, bagels, mackerel tins, beer battered fish, kielbasa sausage, its all got a lot of fat in them. Sure I could keep all these things but I am not sure when surgery will be. Best to cut it all out now.
I bought lettuce head, tomatoes, zucchini, and I have onions and spinach. My fruits are a prune I will eat every morning like a vitamin, and grapefruit juice ice cubes mixed in my sparkling Ice grapefruit juice. I might use a blender for a nice slushies effect.💖
Thank you ladies for all your care and concern. I'm so relieved to have answers and a plan of action.💖
This evenings turkey wrap with the whole wheat wrap, lettuce, some diced tomatoes, a couple black olives, shredded fake cheddar with a drizzle of bleu cheese dressing was devine! I was so happy eating it!

I'm glad to hear you've got answers and a plan!

Even after your gallbladder is out, you'll still have to be careful with what you eat so it is good to start now.

And with your kidneys, you may also get a diet recommendation.

Passing my kidney stones hasn't been too bad. My kidneys ache for a few days or weeks, then it's a really sharp pain in the front for a little while, and I drink lots of water to keep things moving.

Getting a kidney stone lodged (stuck) is up there among my worst pain ever.

I am very much a wolf!!

Occasionally I'm a dolphin if I've got something I need to attend at a certain time early the next morning.

Went to Newcomer bowling. Had a few new bowlers

Rebecca – I’m so very glad that they found out the source of your pain and will be taking care of it. Vince had his gallbladder out and he doesn’t have any dietary restrictions at all. I think everyone is different in regards to diet. He’s supposed to watch his protein for his kidneys, but I can tell you that he doesn’t.

It’s supposed to get cold tonight so I’m running the self-clean on my oven.

The guy to pump out the septic is supposed to be here tomorrow.

Oh, Rebecca! Gallbladder pain is the worst pain I've ever had. You should be feeling better soon, I hope. And then kidney stones on top of that. You poor thing.

Thanks for the info! I do eat white albacore tuna in water, and I do like the tinned mackerel but it's in olive oil. Probably on the not to eat list huh?

Rosemarie - I don’t think you sound boring.
Get a tire gauge to actually test the air. The Tire monitoring systems cannot be trusted in the cold and people can over inflate their tires. Most of the people I know here have tire pressure low warnings all winter long.
What about a bath set or candles. My daughter is a big decorator for Christmas, I have been helping her build her collection of decorations. She appreciates it. My other daughter is getting a Halloween Christmas this year, because every year she says she would love to have her collection build. The best part is I am finding a lot at 50-75% off already.

I can’t imagine cutting my family out of my life and not contacting them for any reason.
However, I do have to say that the urge has been there several times over the last 25 years since we moved to Alberta.
My Husband’s parents have called us a total of 4 times since we moved out here. It has been tempting at times to not call them because “the phone works both ways”.
My brother and his wife are the same as well as my husbands sister. If o don’t make the call there is never a connection.

Sometimes I feel like if they cared at all they would reach out.

Heather - what a relief! I think they are making a wise decision.

Lisa - apparently everyone is denied disability benefits here in Canada 4 times before it is approved. I don’t know how true that is, but have heard it said numerous times. Then the person ends up with a couple of years back pay.

Rita - I could have that quote on my headstone as well. 😂

Heather - I went to the jewellers yesterday as well. I am having the opals out of a ring that was my great great Aunts, turned into a pair of earrings. I am also having the gold from that ring and some other gold rings my grandmother had given me all made into a little gold nugget so that I have it as a pendant. They are both things I have held onto, but will get use out of them this way. My Grandmother had agreed with my idea way back in 2005 so I have no guilt over it.

    Karen - I would expect
to arrange transportation of items I am receiving myself. I hope you get it all straightened away without too much hassle for you.

Rebecca - what a great gift and photo from your son. I love his name.
So glad you went to the hospital and have a plan in place.

Barbie - I need to start doing my gratitude journal again. I believe it made a huge difference in my life.

I use to be a wolf, but now I’m much more like the bear. I fall asleep fairly easily on most nights, I never sleep through the night though. It’s not hot flashes or needing to go to the bathroom either 95% of the time.

    I have caught up.

If the kidney stone is small, it's not that bad. Every CT scan I've had since 2009 (since my big kidney stone that got lodged and had to be surgically removed) has shown stones in one or both kidneys, and I've passed them. Usually, I haven't known exactly when but I'll have the achy kidneys, then some sharp shooting pains, and then all the pain stops, so I presume the stone has passed. Once, I noticed something in the toilet that coincided with the sharp pains stopping ... they were probably 1-2 mm in diameter.

I think it's worse for men.

As I continue to dig my dry stream trench in the garden, surrounded by our bees, fruit trees, veggies and flowers ... I thought of this ...:smiley:

I'm not really a hippie, but I do like the idea of being more self sufficient, taking care of the environment (even if it is just my yard), leaning toward being a vegetarian, being in nature. :)

Today was a lovely day and a great sheet drying day ... warm, sunny with a bit of wind. We don't have a clothes dryer other than nature ... or a drying rack inside. Just brought my sheets and doona cover inside and am looking forward to tonight.

Hi Rebecca, glad you are getting some answers to your tummy issues. I have not yet had a kidney dtone, but I did have a fine collection of pyramid shaped, yellow gallstones, that I still have in a display box. For me, my diet didn't seem to make much difference to the pain attacks, apart from a very rich curry, or a greasy stew, so I wouldn't deprive yourself unnecessarily. They just seemed to happen when they happened. Once I was taken off the train at Waterloo Station and conveyed on a platform trolley to an ambulance. The hospital found the gallstones that day. I hope you can get your op as soon as possible as narcotics and pain killers are horrible things to have to take for long. Constipation being one effect!
My brother had a stuck kidney stone and the agony was profound. They gave him powerful suppositories in the hospital. He passed it and is fine now.
I have no problems at all with eating now and my digestion is fine.
I think KateUk is having her gallbladder out around now. We haven't heard from her for some time. <3

Pouring with rain. It is supposed to clear by this afternoon when we walk over to babysit the kids for Parents Evening. On the way I need to pop in to the Mediterranean shop I bought my cardamom pods from yesterday. I didn’t have enough cash , so they said I could pay the 66p remaining today. :p They are actually from South Sudan and have every possible comestible in their shop, including homemade falafel mix, frozen artichoke hearts and za'atar, all of which I purchase. Plus it is all so cheap! None of the supermarkets had cardamom pods yesterday, even the mega Tesco.

    On with my poems!

Rebecca - so glad you finally have answers! Thanks so much for the update.

I hope they are able to schedule you for gall bladder surgery soon and get it over with. You are a pretty sick little puppy the way it sounds. Double whammy.

After my gall bladder surgery, the surgeon said "eat anything you want". I pretty much can and do, though some folks have issues. Our bodies let us know.

I passed my kidney stone quickly and it wasn't that big, just hurt like the dickens.

That door plaque is beautiful. What a thoughtful thing. <3
