Thanks Barbie! This thread is invaluable, for its motivational, and positive support on a day to day basis. I consider you all great friends of mine!
Goals for November
-to get care packages packed and sent the first week.
-to get my gallbladder removed!
-to continue to eat many items fat free or low fat. Personally I can't tell the difference in sour cream, cottage cheese, or dressings. Now that dairy free cheese made out of chickpeas was disgusting! I will still buy Tillamook, just eat less of it.
-stay on top of my pen pal writing.
-get started on my Christmas cards.π
Much of this is non my fitness pal related, but such is life.

Barbie, thank you for the fresh start!
Weigh in day today, (Monday) and I ended Oct lighter than I started. Not by much, but considering I wasn't really paying much attention til just a few days ago, I'll take it! I've also been much more consistent at the gym, so that helps.
Didn't realize that Heather's cruise was quite as imminent as it was! Hope you have a great time Heather!
Kim, hope Covid doesn't kick you too bad and that you are able to either manage to cook or find someone who will drop stuff off on your doorstep. I didn't realize that stores charged for curbside pick up as well as delivery. I wonder if it's that way here too. Hmmm, something to ponder.... Not sure I would ever seriously consider it, I like picking out my own groceries.
So this year I have been buying frozen veggies, not just the kernel corn and peas, but also cauliflower and broccoli, and a mixed that is called a California mix. It has the cauli and broc with the addition of carrots. I've quite enjoyed it, but the cauli and broc aren't cut very uniformly and I find a lot of stem in the broc. This year (and who knows why I didn't do it before!) I bought all of the above when on sale (the cauli was buy one, get one free!) cut it all up, blanched it and froze it myself. Tried some of the carrots yesterday and OH MY! They were amazing! The most difficult part of the whole process was chilling the veggies after the blanching, but it seemed to work out, the texture is good. My win for the fall!
It's very late (or bloody early) so I must head off to bed.
Hugs for those needing them, congrats to those who are celebrating and welcome to the newbies! Please feel free to jump in on any topic and please don't feel the need to reply to every post, we are a chatty bunch and you would never get anything else done! lol Also, please sign your posts with what you would like to be called as well as a location that can be as general or specific as you are comfortable with. And don't forget, this is a public forum!

Happy November! Went to bed early last night-couldn't watch the Monday night "Battle for Ohio." Up watching replay, even though I know my Browns won (less stress this way!).
Will work on staying up a bit later tonight-time change this week will be a killer. My goals for November are to get sleep straightened out and eating back on track consistently.
Take care all,

Very rough seas overnight. Didn't get any sleep, but I got up at 6.30, made tea and we were in the gym by 7. The butler delivered breakfast to the room and now I am about to set off to a watercolour class. I am a complete beginner! D H not feeling too good, but he managed the gym. I did sitting down things as it is still rough.
Thanks Barbie π Great photos.
Love Heather UK waters. π¬π§8 -
Thank you Barbie-you all are dear friends I cherish you all !!2

Watercolour class was very helpful as I have never done it before. We were each given our own big box of paints and brushes! I signed DH on and hope he can join me tomorrow.
Next stop, lunch.

I missed posting during the last couple of days of October, but I did read the posts.
Welcome to the new people
Heather: I hope the waters calm down and DH is feeling better. Great about getting to the gym and doing a watercolor class
Katla: I am praying for you and your DH
I didn't take notes but I am praying for the person with back pain...that this settles down soon and for the person who is having skin biopsies done. I hope these biopsies turn out okay.
I have grown tired of my gym and of videos online and have joined a new gym. A Planet Fitness. The room is bigger and I hope will be less crowded than my old gym during morning times. My old gym caters to retirees so is crowded in the mornings. This gym caters to younger people and should have space for social distancing in the mornings. No contract so I can always cancel.
I am on a Coca Cola thing and this is causing me to gain weight. I do mix it with seltzer water. I am stuck in the house so much caretaking that this just seems to be a bad habit I picked up!
I didn't go to bed until after 1 am last night and it is only 7 now. I went to a funeral yesterday and this inspired me to begin my DH's eulogy even though he is very much alive. I did get a pretty good amount of this started and have it stored away to pick up again....maybe a year from now. So the time was not wasted.
I love all the pictures! I love pictures of dogs and animals! I wish I could comment on every single one of them!
Best,
Rosemarie from Georgia

First Day of November
And back to work after having much of October off.
We're in a new building, so today was mostly me trying to catch up on my emails while doing some unpacking and occasionally helping others with some of their moving difficulties. Moving never goes smoothly and I'm sitting in a temporary location until the rest of my desk arrives.
Nevertheless, I'm pleased with the move because it gives me elbow room. I was squashed in between two people at the last place, but now there's no one right beside me! It feels so nice. And when the rest of my desk arrives, I'll be in a nice little nook.
This is the 5th office I've been in over the past year ... actually less than a year!
Tomorrow is skin biopsy day. 3 suspicious spots ... the most worrisome being my nose.
At home, I'm working on cycling club stuff.
Just changed one route for an event coming up this weekend because an old bridge is being removed and that part of the road is closed. That bridge removal also affects an event coming up at the end of the month, so I'll be changing that route next.
Or maybe I'll offer this advice.

Hello to All...May November be a great month!
Carol in GA5 -
Thank you, Barbie! Love starting with a clean slate...
My goals in October were...
β - Be lighter: I was 168 on the first of October and 164 this morning. I am now two pounds lighter than I was the day I married Corey in 2009. Not recommending how it's coming off, but the rate of loss has slowed dramatically. Eventually, I hope to settle down into a maintenance weight of 145 to 150, but am not setting a time goal.
X - Be healthier: I know I'm better than I was at the beginning of October in some ways, but the anemia isn't better.
X - Stick to the budget: Buying a truck unexpectedly will do a number on your budget...
The goals for November are the same - Be lighter, be healthier, stick to the budget. I learned a while back that for me, specific numbered goals provoke stress I really don't need. I allowed the numbers on the scale to ruin my days, and even weeks and months if I didn't reach those goals. I don't do that anymore, and it helps my mental equilibrium a lot.
Goals are just that, as well. They are plans, and sometimes you need to adjust the plan. The budget was set up to get our house paid for by the end of this year, but we've decided we're moving that deadline out six months. If we get the house paid off by next June, we will have paid off a 30-year loan in five years, and that's pretty good any way you look at it.
As Rebecca noted, a lot of my goals aren't about weight necessarily, but weight loss is part of an overall change in our lives. No action that involves changing our life stands alone.
Thanks again, Barbie,
Love y'all,
Lisa in AR

About 40 Trick or Treaters. We took turns greeting them, so it was just the right amount. Fun to see the costumes. The first bunch scared DrewB so she stayed in the den.
Barbie thanks for starting us in the new month.3 -
Make it a great month ladies, but start with each new day. You've got this!3

Happy November!
Thanks Barbie!

Kim - hope you are doing better today. In WA State, my doc told me to isolate for 5 days. I was out shopping at 7 days at 6 or 6:30 am when there were very few people in the store. I do see lots of folks who are wearing masks - some of them might be at the tail end of the symptoms and playing it safe for others. So you might be able to scoot into a store masked during non-busy hours and pick up a few things in a few days - not sure what the CA protocol is. I'm a little worried about you and your food supply. Once I got my appetite back, it was voracious! Rosie hid under the bed, lol. Love your haircut by the way and I'm jealous of your beautiful shiny hair!
Elliptical review: This little elliptical is the first piece of exercise equipment I've used every day: a few times a day 5 to 10 minutes at a time. I use it in sitting mode, front propped up on a couple 2 x 4's as Bob & Brad suggest. I can already tell my legs are getting stronger - climbing stairs is getting easier. Since it's in the living room I see it all of the time.
Vibration Plate Do any of you use a vibration plate to help with circulation, balance and/or bone density? I see the prices vary a lot, as do the bells and whistles. I need to research it more - here's an example of one. I've heard a lot of good things about the LifePro brand too.

I loved all the Halloween photos and yes, let's keep continuing with the photos (and ID'ing people in them.)
