Heather - so happy you are feeling better.

Michele - I use acrylic, the snow is Duncan No Fire Glitter snow. You pounce it on.

    Annie - Happy Birthday

Carla - isn’t it something how we can have adult children at that age. I still have a hard time saying I have a 33 and 31 year old.

I had a busy day, still sorting seed beads, but did stop for groceries and a short visit with a dear young cousin. She has two little girls one only 4 months old. They are both sweet. I had started laundry before I went for a visit and finished it when I came home.

I really wish we had 3 day weekends. I sort of did this weekend, I didn’t work Friday, but did spend 7 hours away from home to meet for the work Christmas party.

Tonight I have snacked too much. I’m going to head to bed to watch tv so I stop it.

Much better start to the week.

DH had his meds adjusted and is doing so much better.

    Enjoyed singing in church today.

Had a long chat with a good friend today.

Furnace still working well at son's house. I do have new space heaters with great safety features. I plugged them in to gfi receptacles and made sure nothing blocking them. Also nothing else is plugged into the same receptacle. I learned that is I even move one when it is on it will shut down. So as long as there is electrical power good to go. If I had needed a new part over the weekend the technician told me it would cost $100 just to call the company to get the part. So good news it made it through the weekend.

Our weather is turning warmer this week and no snow. It will be nice to get a break from shoveling.

Tomorrow lunch with a friend and Tuesday lunch with a cousin.

Drkatiebug Im glad you are feeling better! Enjoy your time out tomorrow.

Allie I hope you have a wonderful time walking around at the Cape! Enjoy the pool as well.

Margaret It is good that your husband’s meds are working. Have fun with your friends at lunch. I remember when you and Gayle and I went to lunch together. That was a great time. She was on here a couple of months ago but I haven’t seen her since.

Cookies, chocolates etc. -- I am the type of person who eats one and saves the rest for later. To the point that, left on my own, I have had to throw things out because I have left them that long.

My husband is an eat it all sort.

When I have lived on my own, I have been quite slender. Living with someone, it's harder to be slender.

3 day weekends -- I love my 9-day fortnight's but would like to go to a 4-day week. However I am the wage-earner of the family so a 9-day fortnight is as good as it gets.

Space heaters -- I have seen space heaters mentioned a few times. Be careful with those things.

I've had one burst into flame many years ago, and fortunately I was sitting right there and was able to put out the fire. Apparently they do that and cause thousands and thousands of house fires each year.

One of the first recommendations is not to leave them unattended.

We don't own a space heater and I would be very reluctant to have one.

Well heckums. Thought I had a bone-in turkey breast in the deep freeze, but when I went to find it to start it thawing, nope, nuthin’ Means I have to brave Freddie’s and hope they still have one in stock. Fingers Xd.

Welcome @hdmelrose! Would you let us know what you’d like to be calledyou’re your general locale?
    Margaret ((hugs))
Tracey so sorry for your and Lauryn’s loss.
Rosemarie you’ve done all the prep, hope your son and DIL step up and to the serving and cleanup. Fingers X’d.
Allie was that Carmine smiling topping the tree? They have a lovely smile!
Michele (and Debbie and Machka and any with fresh skin wounds) my dermatologist recommended a thin film of Vaseline Petroleum Jelly applied after each gentle cleansing with fresh hydrogen peroxide. The peroxide cleans/sanitizes, the Vaseline protects and keeps just the right level of moist. Really helped my skin cancer surgery recoveries.

Regarding mangoes ... there are a number of different varieties.
    https://mangoes.net.au/about-australian-mangoes/australian-mango-varieties/

Right now, here in Tassie, we've got Kensington Pride which is all right. They seem to show up early so I usually have a few of them first.

But then Calypso mangoes appear, and that's the kind I go for during the rest of the season.

Last year, we got a huge variety about mid-season. If they appear again, I'm going to have to check the name. They were good but very big and very filling.

Regarding the glass method of scooping mangoes. It only works on ripe mangoes. I could never have used that method on the under-ripe, rock-hard mangoes found in Canada. The riper the mango, the more easily the skin separates from the flesh.

Papayas ... I like dried papayas, but I'm not overly keen on the fresh ones.

    Machka in Oz

I never cared for fresh papaya until I started cutting my own. I don't know if it is something the other places put on the cut ones to keep them fresh or what, just had an odd taste to it. The ones I get whole taste so much better but have to be ripe but not over ripe. Mom said the same thing.
I got one yesterday- super great sale at just .49cents a pound at the 99cent store. It is green but will ripen. They do eat it green here too but I prefer mine ripe and sweet.Green is in a salad, like a slaw.

The only place I've had fresh papaya was from a market in Hong Kong ... and maybe also in Taiwan. It was whole and we cut it. However, given that it was the first time we had purchased a whole papaya, we may have chosen one that wasn't ripe.

Where they removed the skin tag is still itching like h***. Vince changed the bandage for me from gauze to band aids. But it’s still itching

    Michele NC
I totally know how you feel about the bandage itching- mine started itching really bad this afternoon while I was walking MIL's dog- took it off when I got home and letting it air out until I go to bed. Glad I am getting the stitches out tomorrow afternoon. I will find out then if he is going to freeze the rest off or if he plans on just leaving it and me just covering it with makeup.

    Debbie

I've been told that when a wound starts itching, that means it is healing.

I've also discovered that I have an allergy to bandages, or the adhesive in bandages.

My under arm biopsy started itching like mad, so I tried the cool cloth method of easing the itching, and discovered, that it wasn't the biopsy itself that was itchy, it was the area around where the adhesive had been. Once I got that thoroughly cleaned off, it was better. That biopsy site is well on its way to being healed. :)

With the one on my hip, I've had to rotate the angle of the band-aid, every time I put a fresh one on. It still has a way to go but I was able to go to work today without a bandage.

My nose has been "out there" (no band-aid) all weekend and to work today for the first time since the biopsy. I thought about putting makeup on it, but the skin is still pretty fresh and a bit tender so I didn't.

3 weeks until the surgery on my nose and hip.

My specialist recommended the Vaseline Petroleum Jelly too. I bought a small container for the next phase of this process (the surgeries), but since I'm going to have my nose carved up and a larger chunk out of my hip, I figured ... why bother.

I have been putting Vit E lotion on the other biopsy spot.

    30 Days of Gratitude
    ccz3itve5r6y.png

    1. Smell - freshly cut grass on our lawn.
    2. Technology - the amazing advancements in medical technology.
    3. Colour - blue. Beautiful blue sky peaking through the clouds.
    4. Food - soup. That's what I've been eating just recently because there's less chewing. We always keep a few cans of soup on hand for situations like these.
    5. Sound - my music. I've recently acquired a number of nature sounds CDs with music playing along with sounds of ocean waves, birds, and so on. Lovely.
    6. Nature - I love nature. It would be incredibly difficult for me to pick just one thing. I am so grateful that there is nature and that I can enjoy it.
    7. Memory - Winter 2017. The last time I visited my parents and a wonderful 1-month holiday to Canada that June/July. My husband and I did two cycling events and a lot of other cycling. We climbed mountains and explored a glacier. We visited friends and family.
    Memories:
    https://www.flickr.com/photos/machka-bb/albums/72157682899188730
    8. Book - Norman Doidge's The Brain's Way of Healing. I found it inspirational!
    https://www.normandoidge.com/?page_id=1042
    9. Place - home. I've moved and travelled a lot and home is wherever I happen to feel really comfortable. Right now, home is a certain house here in Tasmania where I can go and just be myself (mostly, for even a little while). Home is where I can lie down on the sofa and doze off when I've had a rough day, like I did yesterday.
    10. Taste - salt. My favourite taste. :) On the one hand I need salt because of my exercise and medications, on the other hand I need to reduce my salt because of my kidneys. But given the choice, I'll usually go salty over sweet ... or maybe salty and sweet!
    11. Holiday - Christmas!!!!
    12. Texture - smoothness. I like smooth clothes, smooth sheets, Rhody's smooth fur ...
    13. Abilities - I don't really think of myself in terms of having abilities. I've sort of thought of myself as "the jack of all trades, master of none". However, organisation is one that I've been thankful for throughout my life.
    14. Sight - the beauty all around. In our yard, where we go cycling, where I work, and travelling around this island.
    15. Season - I like the seasons in the following order from best to worst: Summer, Autumn ............ Spring ................... Winter.
    16. What about your body are you grateful for? Healing ... that it heals. Mostly anyway, and perhaps imperfectly, but healing does take place.
    17. What knowledge are you grateful for? Everything I do know. It all contributes to my work, my carer role, and my other activities.
    18. Piece of art - of the arts, I think the two I appreciate the most are literature and music. On the subject of music, I have really appreciated discovering ABC Classic FM on the radio and the app on my phone. I pop in my earbuds at work and I can focus on my work while feeling relatively relaxed at the same time. :)
    19. Touch - Rhody's fur, his little wet nose, his whiskers
    20. Who in my life - my husband. I'm glad he is still in my life. My parents who have always been supportive.
    21. Song - He Is -- Mark Schultz. One of several songs that has been with me through the difficult times.

Margaret-medications can make a difference for a person. Glad your DH has things straightened.

Heather-so happy you and Johnny ended up having a good anniversary. You sound like such a cute couple!

Beth (and any others in the area)-good luck with continued cleanup. I certainly don't miss the Noreasters we used to get when I lived in Maine-especially the norther part. It taught me that it is ok to not fight nature, stay home, and come out when safe.

DrKatie-nice to hear your life is getting back on track.

    Annie-Happy belated birthday!

Definitely agree that wounds itching is a sign of healing, but it can be very annoying!

I also noticed with my hip replacements and all of the trips to orthopedics offices that many of the patients are obese. It is interesting the military puts weight limit on them, but I also understand why. I had thought a hip group I joined during the process mentioned that in other countries they also required a weight loss.

I also am sick if the extra roll. I see my doctor December 1 and am hopefully released for increased exercise. I have only been doing walking since surgery. I have added carrying two pound dumb bells while walking. I am avoiding any other lifting and stretches until I talk to him. It surely doesn't take long for muscle tone to fade!

Short work week-off Thursday and Friday. Not doing anything for Thanksgiving day but will pick up oldest son at airport-he is flying on for Ohio State Michigan game Saturday. Youngest and wife have season tickets-oldest has airline points. Youngest had been scheduled to work on Saturday. That has changed but they kept the main plan the same. The youngest and I will watch game from their house and cook a Thanksgiving dinner for post game. Then take oldest back to airport very early Sunday!

Off to get ready for work. Enjoy Monday. Take care all.

    Ginny in Ohio
