My aunt across the street has a very bad cold. We are all worried because she is my uncle's primary caretaker. But she is telling us to stay away.

I read a mystery by Louise Penny yesterday. She is so good at painting a somber mood. And writing characters for whom I feel fondness. Now I can take that one back to the library, and then switch to Kindle and Libby. And keep working on my birthday pile of paper books.

Not much on my agenda today. I have to answer a note from Chuck, a guy I met online. He is eager to meet me, and I am less enthusiastic. There's no warning signs, I'm just tired of the dance. I suppose I ought to give him a chance. It will be lunch in a public restaurant in broad daylight. Probably in Wilmington. Part of my problem is that I have been wearing my fat jeans, which means few of my attractive outfits will fit. My own fault, and I have turned the tide but not soon enough.

Anyway, back to gratitude. I am grateful for my fingernails. I finally found the right supplements to keep them growing well: Biotin, fish oil and calcium. I'm glad they look nice with very little care.

I am also grateful for my wrinkled brain. It has served me well through four degrees, and three careers. It has its flaws but overall I am very happy with it.

Have a great day ladies, and take care not to catch the illnesses going around. I will be wearing a mask if I go out at all.

Hope everyone's Sunday is/was serene and peaceful.

Up four times last night, finally gave up at 5am. They can't all be good, and I've been quite spoiled of late with 7 to 8 hours of sleep and only one nocturnal trip to the bathroom. Hopefully tonight will be better...

Finished a couple loads of laundry, ensconced now in my recliner with the bingly-bangly noises emanating from the kitchen of Corey making his own breakfast - I made and ate mine almost two hours ago... The weather is strictly ca-ca, rain, sleet, dark and gray--supposed to be better this afternoon...

Putting together a few tentative meal plans for feeding five extra people. I'll probably get Corey to put together a big pan of lasagna, and then taco night for one night and hot dogs for the last night if they stay that long. They may just be here for two nights, or it may be three. No worries either way. Only two weeks away, and can't wait to see my grands!

Hope the weather's good enough for them to go hiking up in the Ozarks one day that they're here. Corey will go with them, which will leave me a few hours free from too many people, which is always a good thing.

Always wonderful to see new folks on the thread - and as someone said, don't worry if you don't get a ton of friend requests from this thread. For many of us, including me, this is our only interaction with others on MFP.

Well heckums. After putting together bean dip for fellowship, the storm moved in so decided to forego in-person church. Wonder how half an avocado with a half cup of refried beans and an ounce of cheddar cheese will taste with tea for breakfast?

Rita: That tree pattern is awesome. I love crochet but have just gotten myself some simple embroidery kits. A new skill to practice, especially at night. Especially to keep my hands busy.

Machka: “Service bell” so perfect. Once I take some photos will post the holiday decorating I applied to Mars’ kitty condo. He loves it. I am quite immpressed with how your dry stream is coming together.

So grateful I slept well last night after ushering for 11 hours yesterday. My back, still feeling the snow tubing oweee, was really barking during the entire second shift. But otherwise it was a very interesting day of music, children singing, brass bands playing to the city shoppers outside the doors as I was scanning tickets on a very sunny day. There was also a symphonic mélange with mandolin virtuoso Chris Thile, good conversations with colleagues, and even better people watching. Never dull moments at a busy, holiday entertainment venue. And, just about 90 seconds before we hit the pinnacle of every usher’s evening (one minute to curtain, afterwhich there is a holdout till first applause), the president of our company showed up, introduced himself, and said in his previous visits to the Boettcher Concert Hall, he had never left the lobby level. So, my colleague Lise and I, manning the third level, stopped for an impromptu chat with Dave explaining some of the nuances of the hall and our jobs and interactions with patrons. Then we hit that one minute mark, and we dropped him cold. He bid us a quiet good night mouthing the words "I can see you're BUSY". In the seconds I had with him, I recited the 20 second recap of how this job, putting me in healing proximity of live music, nature, and fun people, has been a positive force as I heal from grief. And, I meant it sincerely. Then, ZOOM! Had to dash to help a couple find their seats.

1 What is something that makes you laugh? Movie “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation”. I can recite almost every line, and it still cracks me up.
2 Something about the current season you’re grateful for. “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation is on almost every channel, almost every hour…”
3 What about your body do you love/are you grateful for? My memory. God forbid I should ever forget the lines to “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation”, and even worse, the good feeling I get from the story.
4 Who is someone in your life that you’re grateful for? The character Clark Griswold. His story inspires me. He dreams of the perfect fun old fashioned family Christmas, but it goes sideways and but he remains positive and optimistic through the chaos and mess ups.
