Barbie—Down loading books was available in our library in StHelens, OR. I will go to the closest library to me here in Illinois and get a library card. I’ll find out whether they have Library to Go in this library. I’m keeping my fingers crossed to have that service. ⭐️

Last week I bought a bunch of mackerel in different flavors, some in a Mediterranean sauce, some in tomato paste, others in a lemony olive oil. I have only had tinned mackerel in olive oil and I just mixed with a bit of mayo and squirt of wasabi over sticky white rice. Do any of you have some suggestions?

The Italians do some wonderful things with fish. I don't have a mackerel recipe, but my spouse makes a sardine pasta that has become my comfort food. Personally I think that mackerel is more 'fishy' than sardine, but it might work (?). I'm going to ask him to make that pasta with chickpea spaghetti and see how that works. It would be a +++protein /carb meal.

Machka sorry your DH had a meltdown. It's tough to have to be the adult and handle everything day after day. I admire how much you get done, and how rich a life you have built.

    Hello everyone,
I just bought this book "The Body Builder's Kitchen" and the recipes are pretty simple. I like the way it is set up with a bunch of different meal plans to chose from. I will probably follow none of them. Still, I recommend this book. I am done with dieting that has never worked for me EVER. I am going for building as much muscle as I can so that I will have strong old lady bones and a better body.

@anitanap2 hi! I would recommend you start with the book Strong Women Stay Young by Miriam Nelson. She has a complete routine with ankle weights and dumbbells that is tested and has all the right instructions.

I do over thirty exercises at home including squats, deadlifts, upright row, single arm bent over row, cross punches, triceps pullovers, wrist and bicep curls, chest press, overhead press, and flies. I also do a bunch of stretches, and some knee PT and planks and sit-ups. I do a little bit of everything, generally with only five pounds, thirty reps, and I keep moving. My tempo is too speedy by most muscle-building experts, but it keeps the calories burning.

Good luck developing a routine that works for you! Keep going, and adjust as you go.

Thanks @Anniesquats100 I will look up that book!

Question has any one here used apple cider vinegar to help with a healthier digestive system?? It also is supposed to help with weight loss.

Machka sorry to hear about your husband’s meltdown. He is lucky to have you!

Good morning, ladies. I've been reading through the posts and sorry to hear the struggles some are facing. My heart goes out to Carmine and wishing the best for her.

Been doing some spring house cleaning and washing walls. Getting to be too much of a chore for me and I think it may be time to have a cleaner come in a couple of times a year to help me out with these big jobs. Will be looking into that this fall. I read about someone in our local newspaper that does cleaning for seniors. I think it is something our area needs as there are a lot of seniors in town and also the rural area.

Got my travel documents the other day and getting excited about my Ireland trip. Everything looks very well organised and hoping the trip to Dublin airport will go smoothly. Flying with Aer Lingus but it is a code share with Westjet from Edmonton to Toronto. I'm going to try to just take carry on so no checked bag. Will see how that works. My carry on is 20" and fits the measurement requirement. Just have to make sure it is not over 22 lbs.

Will be having family over for Easter which is just after DH's birthday so a couple of celebrations to look forward to. Will be glad when Easter is over with as every time I open the pantry two chocolate Easter bunnies are staring back at me....one for each of the younger grands. Chocolate is my weakness and very hard to resist!

    Back to cleaning...enjoy your day.

    Joy

    1. Set an intention to live with awareness and kindness. I intend to live with more awareness and kindness every day.
    2. Notice three things you find beautiful in the outside world. The blue water of Lea Lake, Snow on the mountains at a distance, walking a nature trail. All at Bottomless Lakes State Park.
    3. Start today by appreciating your body and that you are alive. I am healthy and above ground. I can walk, talk, hear, see, taste, and smell (mostly). I appreciate that I alive and have a healthy body.
    4. Notice how you speak to yourself and choose to use kind words. I will try…
    5. Bring to mind people you care about and send love to them. I sent texts to my long distance friends to send them love.
    6. Have a ‘no plans’ day and notice how that feels. Most days are like that for me. So much less stress!
    7. Take three calm breaths at regular intervals during your day. Sounds like a plan.
    8. Eat mindfully. Appreciate the taste, texture and smell of your food. Started at breakfast.
    9. Take a full breath in and out before you reply to others. I will need to keep this in the front of my mind all day.
    10. Get outside and notice how the weather feels on your face. Every day!
    11. Stay fully present while drinking your cup of tea or coffee. In the process of doing that right now!
    12. Listen deeply to someone and really hear what they are saying. I will have to really try to get this done today.
    13. Pause to watch the sky or clouds for a few minutes today. I love doing this!
    14. Find ways to enjoy any chores or tasks that you do. I made a necessary task to go for a liver scan enjoyable by buying lunch for myself for a change.
    15. Stop. Breathe. Notice. Repeat regularly. I really need to do this today! Didn’t remember to do this.
    16. Get really absorbed with an interesting or creative activity. I have stones to paint. Will be distributing along the trails in exchange for free peddle boat and paddle board rentals. Didn’t do this. Too windy out. I colored instead.
    17. Look around and spot three thing you find unusual or pleasant. Will do. 1. Lady wanting us to cut a lock off of her propane tank. 2. The rock formations around the park. 3. The lake surface when wind blows over it.
    18. If you find yourself rushing, make an effort to slow down. I will consciously try to do this. I completed this!
    19. Appreciate nature around you wherever you are. Easy here. I do it every day! Appreciation list in spoiler
    20. The blues,of the lake
    21. BirdsTweeting in the sky and trees

    54. 25. Focus your attention on the good things you take for granted. Even the little things like sunshine, a cup of coffee, you are alive, nature, etc. These are some of mine.
    55. 26. Choose to spend less times looking at screens today. I will! I had 58% less screen time this week than last week. Working on this!
    56. 27. Cultivate a feeling of loving-kindness towards others today. I’ve been working on this in my meditations.
    57. 28. Notice when you are tired and take a break as soon as possible. I will try.
    58. 29. Choose a different route today and see what you notice. If I have the chance will do this. Probably with a walk. Did take a different route for my walk. Different scenery to look at (but not my favorite)
    30. Mentally scan your body and notice what you are feeling. Will do this during meditation today.
    31. Discover the joy in the simple things of life.

    30. Mentally scan your body and notice what you are feeling. Before and after today’s PT stretches.

Debbie, thankful for Destiny Hope’s courage and bright spirit, prayer said for healing and comfort.
Rosemarie well done for your hard work in the cattery.
Lanette 4-5 years is not a lot of time to save up for a new roof. :astonished: From watching the Upright Health-how to get up from the floor, have decided to do some of my PT stretches on the floor. Good thing there are no webcams there
Ginny our line dance teacher believes it is her mission to challenge our brains as well as our bodies. Yesterday she had us dance 3 different dances in one song. All three started with the same 8 steps and had some same, some different steps. We all struggled and resisted but finally made it on the second full try through. I must remember to thank her next week, I was one of the grumblies.
Annie your slippers spoke to your sense of urgency. Well done for exercising “anyway” and maintaining a deficit.
Tracey thank you for your SIL’s story. What is a red seal carpenter?
Viv, “not been sticking to my routines…” I don’t know why it’s such a struggle, but I have to drag myself by the scruff of the neck to do the PT exercises and stretches. I try to remind myself that the first set is the hardest, that the rest will go by quickly and I’ll feel better after. This carrot is marginally more effective than “or you’re really going to HURT if you don’t” stick. Good luck!
Allie, CT has a program (HUSKY) that can cover children from birth to age 19 in families of all income levels. It includes mental health services. Tracy could call 1-877-CT-HUSKY (1-877-284-8759). https://portal.ct.gov/OHA/Employers/Employers/HUSKY--Healthcare-for-Uninsured-Kids--Youth ((hugs))
Machka whooshing better days for you both, and favorable radiology results.
Heather really admire your patient wisdom about G and your body. That first painting makes me think of looking out through window panes at an exuberant spring country garden.
Kylia maybe having the police (and alarm company) call your SIL is an idea whose time has come? :naughty:
Betsy putting your head back in the sleeping bag seems like the right response to that snow.
@anitanap2 here’a a SWSY video to get you started.
Mary I used to take acv with collagen every morning, did good things for my nails, wonder why I stopped. One caution, be sure to thoroughly rinse/brush your teeth after, it plays heck with enamel.
Joy time to relocate those bunnies and not to your tum!
Vicki :rage: You are an angel, like Michael, fighting for your friend. What did “they” think when they sent her home? In an ambulance or taxi? That she would fall at the doorstep and the ambulance would have to bring her back? Thank you for stepping up.
Katla a little green hummingbird was trying to find nectar in the evergreen huckleberry outside my window. When he caught sight of the feeder he swooped in and tanked up. Even got to see his little tongue darting in and out. I felt like you were stopping in to say “Hi” and “time to get up off that chair and do your yoga!” ;)
