Hi there.
So I've cut out all chocolates, baked goods etc from my diet in the last week. I have such a big sweet tooth though so I've been satisfying it with fruit. I only have about two or three pieces of fruit a day but of course I'm always over on my sugar intake. I looked at a report of my sugar consumption over the last week and it averages out to about 43g per day with a max intake of 62g and a minimum of 25g. What do you guys think, do I need to swap some of the fruit I eat for veggies to avoid so much sugar or am I doing alright?

Unless you're eating huge, mutant pieces of fruit, two or three pieces/day isn't likely going to cause a problem for you unless you're going over your caloric totals.0

If you feel satiated and you're hitting your calorie target, within say 50-100 calories over or under, then you're doing great.0

Unless you are diabetic you should be find with 2 or 3 a day. I am diabetic and I try to not go over 2 a day when i eat it because even though natural sugar is better in my case it is still sugar.. its about balance.0

With MFP's sugar count, you really can't eat a whole lot of fruit together. 30ish grams of sugar a day is the recommended intake for people who are not diabetic of ADDED sugars, not natural sugars like those in fruit. So, to be honest, I don't really follow MFP's sugar count too closely, because according to that, I can't eat any fruit really ever.0

thanks guys, i appreciate the feedback. i thought it probably made a difference if it was natural sugars. and i'm not going over on calories and i'm staying under on fat pretty consistently. just those horror stories of people eating lots of fruit in their bid to be healthy and then gaining lots of weight.0

There is a lot of debate about this but generally 30 grams a day or so including fruits (natural fructose still causes insulin response) is generally considered the max by clinicians. The average American eats 160 grams a day. I have been cutting my sugar down and down and my weight loss has been getting easier and easier. Friend me and watch my public diet log for some things that I am taking out and adding in for low sugar ideas. I can get 2000 calories on 30 grams reasonably reliably lately. I swap a lot of fruit for veggies. I am eating veggies with every meal and almost no fruit. Alcohol is a super source of sugar too.

mmm I stopped drinking for a while but I'm about to start again. Maybe I should just limit fruit consumption to every second day then if I'm going to be drinking on weekends. Again thanks for all the info everyone.0
