Was on earlier and found that the discussion function was once again not functioning. It seems like Wednesdays are not good days for MFP.
It has been a pretty ordinary week, and I know enough now to appreciate ordinary weeks (or days). We are still on the downhill slide for the pipe work. They're bringing in the jackhammers this coming Monday. I'm glad it was postponed a week. This Monday we had nice temps but terrible wind, including gusts up to 50 mph. The power went on and off several times. We went up to CVS in Target to pick up a prescription for hubby and we parked way at the top of the lot because idiots leave carts sitting everywhere and the wind could just blow them around. And the wind could also snatch a car door out your hands, so it was an invitation for a badly dinged door. Anyway, as I was hiking up the blacktop, a big gust of wind came and it very nearly knocked me off my feet. I was leaning into it trying to walk and pretty much getting nowhere. It would have been funny if not so dangerous. I don't think my back and rear end are ready for another fall.
I am still struggling with being hungrier than normal, especially in the afternoons. I think I would do well to eat my largest meal of the day as a late lunch, but hubby likes to make dinner the main meal. I tell myself that I can just eat small portions at dinner, but that's easier said than done. And it seems like when I do that, I end up hungry again before bedtime. So I'm trying to remember to get enough protein and fiber and water.
Next week I may be struggling to get in much activity since the workers will be here and my treadmill will be packed away. I feel like such a whiner lately, but now that my lower back is doing better, I'm becoming aware of an issue with one leg. I don't think this has anything to do with the accident at Costco. I suspect it is a vein issue and one that may be related to that attempt to fix some spider veins about a year and a half ago. Sheesh, not doing that was probably a very good decision. Anyway, I feel soreness like a serious bruise, but there is no evidence of a bruise and that feeling is not triggered by touching the area--it just happens. It's truly weird. After going to the doctor only a few times a year and then only to get my thyroid medicine filled, I feel like I've gone from being a super healthy person to being --- gosh, I don't even know how to describe it. And I worry about the impact this might have on my supplemental insurance cost next year. They pick up what Medicare does not, and I know they charge according to your usage and their predictions of your usage. So next year's premium my be a doozy. I really do not like or trust most insurance companies. I sat with a high ranking person from one of the major health insurance companies at an NHLBI conference and was appalled at how he talked about people like they are things that simply affect his bottom line. I won't say the company name here, but it's one of the big ones.
Well, guess I'd better get up from here. Because of daylight savings time, I may be able to get outside and do a little walking today. It's chilly, but doable. I have to say that my body is not yet adjusted to this time change and next week I will have to get up very early because the workers will arrive around 7 a.m., and I will need to have had my coffee and be dressed by time. Kelly, I know you already get up very early. I just can't seem to get to bed before 12:30 a.m., but I'm sure that a day or two on 5 hours of sleep will change that!
Looking forward to hearing how everyone's week went. Before I go, here's my 7-day averages:
Steps = 10,224
Kcals burned = 1,643 (but I did make my 1,725 goal on 3 days_
Stairs = 15 floors

Well the realtor came on Wednesday and we'll be getting the pictures done next Friday, with it going up for sale on April 2. We decided to wait until after Spring Break and Easter weekend, as most people are too busy during that time with their kids anyway. It's definitely bittersweet. I'm sure going to miss what we've built, but the amount of money we're just throwing away is a bit ridiculous.
Hubby and our pup went to the cabin yesterday to take a load of stuff out there. Slowly trying to move stuff out there that we plan on keeping, instead of it being in the house and taking up space. He's on his way back now with a cold apparently. He hasn't been sick in forever, so I'm surprised.
Sheesh - Glad to hear your hubby made it through the bout of Covid. Hopefully it wasn't much more than a cold for him. Amazing that you didn't get it. I find that very fascinating that one person gets it but the other in close contact doesn't. We had that happen too at our house.
Sorry to hear about your BIL. I guess there's really not much you can do other than providing support via listening when they need to talk. Sounds like they need to come to terms with things on their own and make some decisions.
MJ the Musical sounds like something we'd like as well! I'll have to watch and see if it comes to our city or not.
Sarah - Hopefully the jackhammering on Monday doesn't last too long.
I can really relate with you when you said you've been hungrier than normal these days. I feel the exact same way lately. My friend joked that its because we're coming out of hibernation lol I'm also finding that I've felt that I just can't get enough sleep lately. I'm feeling exhausted. Mind you, we haven't had very many sunny days lately either. It's definitely a vicious cycle because I also haven't been eating the best and I haven't been getting in much activity lately. Gotta shape up.
I went for my allergy tests the other day for the issue I've been having with my swollen eyes and wheezing. They found nothing... ugh. I did find that I'm allergic to 2 different types of grasses and I was happy to know that I'm not allergic to dogs or dust at all, which I thought could be the cause. So the allergist sent me for bloodwork and I have to do a 24 hour urine test too. Very odd.. haven't had to do that before. I read about it and it has something to do with histamine testing and seeing if my body has ever been in anaphylaxis before. She thought maybe it had something to do with my cold that I had around the same time, but again the other day my eye started to get hives on it but I managed to keep it from swelling by showering and putting ice on it. So.. the mystery continues...

Kelly, you know I can relate to an allergic reaction that no one seems to be able to diagnose. When I had that "face thing" I saw my regular doc plus four specialists and had every test under the sun, and nothing explained what was going on. So I really feel for you and am interested in what the tests may reveal. Sometimes hives just go away with no explanation, just like they came.
It's a bleak looking day here--very gray and cloudy, but unseasonably warm. However, cold temps are coming in again on Monday--just as our work begins. With workmen coming in and out, I expect my heating bill will soar. Oh, well. I have bigger worries. However, I heard something yesterday that I think will help me and so I thought I'd share it. Someone who worries a lot (as I do) said that a friend told her that she needs to "stop making up stories about herself that end badly."
I'm surprised to see that we haven't heard from Lois or Sheesh, and I hope that they're just busy and not dealing with illness or family problems, etc. I know Lois's work is crazy busy and Sheesh is concerned about her BIL.
Well, the scale was up this morning, so I need to get my behind in gear and try to get a little activity. Have a good weekend.0 -

Very little progress on the scale. I've been logging and being in deficit, but it just goes soooo slowly.
Sorry to be MIA till today. My cousin that I was close to died and I've been the point person for my siblings in sending flowers, etc. He and I were close in age and played together as children, but life and families and living in different parts of my area, it had been a long time since we'd seen each other. I used to see him at the Bee's baseball games, and I knew he had been having long term health problems. He had a bilateral lung transplant 10 years ago, and had done remarkably well, but then got some kind of blood cancer that was the cause of his death at only 70 years old. ;( He had 5 children, and named his first after me. . . I've always thought that was the greatest compliment I could have ever gotten. He was a kind person. I'll miss him, and I know his wife is devastated. They were married very young, and have had a long marriage. Her children are all here, so I know they'll rally around her.
Sarah, I hope the workers being around won't be too awful, but I know that's difficult. You and hubby should make some plans to get away from the house in the evenings after they're gone . . movies or something. I know you're going to need to be able to not see it and not think about it occasionally. I'm really sorry you're having leg pain. I know you don't think so, but I wonder if it could be related to the Costco incident. Nerves really like to share and "radiate" pain to other places. I've see that with my hubby's nerve pain. I think ice and heat works best to relieve nerve pain. Every day I look at my legs and still think I want to do something to treat those darn veins. A couple are larger than spider veins. But, the docs don't think it's a good idea with the clotting history in my family and myself, and having factor V .
Kelly, moving is one of the most difficult things to take on, especially with kids in your house. I hope you can do a lot of resting. Just thinking about it exhausts me. I know when I've had a hives outbreak, it's always been around times of high stress. I know the urine tests can look for high cortisol levels, which indicates chronic stress. I wonder if that's part of what they're looking for. Anyway, I hope they can figure it out, and give you something to help.
Spring has finally started here, and we've had some sunny days, including today. Yesterday we went to a driving range to get the kinks out of our golf swing. It felt good. Hubby has been working on our taxes, and I help with filing away all the old records, clearing the desk for the coming year. He gets grumpy with it, so I've been trying to get him outside to clear the stress. I think we'll go together for a walk today . . it's really nice.
Lois, I hope you're okay and check in soon.
Have a great weekend ladies.

Well, it has begun! And I have not yet had the courage to go down to the basement level, but I did feel my heart sink when I realized that they were taking down the evergreen tree that has given us privacy when sitting out front, has been decorated for Christmas many years, and was set ablaze in blue lights during the last presidential election. I will so miss it. It started as one of those pom-pom trees, but we found over time that we just didn't have the knack for keeping it trimmed that way. So we just let it grow naturally and it took on a more traditional evergreen shape. Hubby has not been as fond of it as I have and he was trying to get me to agree to replace it with something else. But I really loved that scrappy little tree. Oh, well. Sometimes you just have to accept something and move on.
So far, the noise has not been too, too bad, and the kitties are doing pretty good. There was a short time when the noise was terrible and one went under our bed while the other took refuge under the guest bed. But most of the time, they've just hung out upstairs near the stairwell. I think they're fascinated with all the comings and goings.
We still do not know what the insurance company will cover, if anything, inside. But we do know that the landscaping (new lawn, new tree, etc.) is on us! I'm trying to just not think about it until we have all the info. Hubby is driving me a bit crazy because he keeps giving me partial information. At one point, he said, "Good news! The belly (washed out areas causing the collapse) is inside." In that case, they would probably pay for the inside portion. But then he came back and said that there are several bellies outside, where our coverage does not extend. So who the heck knows. Sometimes I think men just get into the watching of a process they do not understand and their brains go in myriad directions!
We were up at 5:30 this morning so that we could get showered and have some coffee before they were scheduled to arrive a 7 a.m. Turns out that they didn't get here until almost 8. I don't know if that will be true everyday. But by that time, we had a big 20-cup insulated coffee dispenser full of coffee set out with cups, cream, sugar, and sweetners. It was still pretty chilly since the sun is not rising as early now that DST is in effect, and it doesn't hurt to be kind to folks who are destroying your house!
Oh yes, and I was unpleasantly greeted by the scale reading 130.2 this morning. I almost said unpleasantly surprised, but really, it was not a surprise. After a day of carrying things out the basement (you should see the garage ) and covering things that cannot come up with plastic, hubby and I decided around 10 p.m. that it would be okay to have milk and cookies and watch a cooking show we had taped. We just needed to decompress. And our friend Dennis continues to keep us stocked with homemade cookies--chocolate chip, chocolate cherry, and snickerdoodles this week. So I need get out and walk (TM is out of the question) even though the temps are much cooler today and even though my back has been hurting like the dickens.
Well, just wanted to check in give an update and read any new posts. Sheesh, I am so sorry about your cousin. I know that cousins who were playmates are important part of our childhoods.
Kelly, I know you're also facing moving a lot of things are you get ready to sell the house. If you are like me, I'm thinking hard about what of this stuff I can just get rid of. We have more cooking equipment than anyone should ever need, and I keep finding things that we've saved for god only knows what reason (flower pots, baskets, sport equipment that we no longer use--you name it).
Lois, I hope you;re okay and that the congestion and aches have not returned. You certainly don't need that when your work is so demanding. But good news about those tickets. I remember your frustration in years past when you weren't able to get them.
Oh, my! The inside jackhammering has begun again, so I'm off.0
