Managed to get through Labor Day weekend at camp without gaining!
With the cooler mornings and lower humidity I've started walking outdoors a couple times per week. It's amazing to me how much more I use certain muscles when walking vs doing zumba. The glutes seem to get a more intense workout when walking.

I'm trying to break my habit of scale dependency. I've always weighed myself daily. So far, after five 1/2 weeks, I still have the urge to step on the scale whenever I'm naked. I haven't though. I weigh in on Thursdays. If I break the habit I think it will go a long way towards maintaining my loss.
@amigababy I love looking at your 6 month record. It helps me to see the rewards of patience and consistency.

Lost 3.8 pounds since the start of this challenge.
Successes this week:
- Did not drink alcohol for 4 days now (so I can lose weight and reduce the puffy face alcohol gives me)
- Yoga classes: I'm really seeing a change in my body. My balance has become much better since I started doing yoga early July. I also have been doing a 16 min. leg workout four times a week.
- Sleeping better (Probably because of no alcohol)
- Higher protein meals and less snacking

09/03-192.0-(Trend Weight: 191.6)- I’m showing a small drop on the scale for which I am grateful. I ate an extra meal yesterday due to curiosity. Only eat when you are actually hungry Donna!!! DD and DGS were here an extra day & night due to the holiday. They left last night and won’t be back until Thursday evening. I have one hair appointment this week which is local and won’t affect my eating so I hope to make some impact on the scale this week. I started my day today with a Youtube exercise video so I’m off to a good start.

My name is Nikki, and I'm 5'4" (on a good day!). I'm based on the south coast in the UK. I'm in my 50s and work full time as a teacher. I'm pretty active - but there's always room for some more. A friend reminded me of MFP - and seeing that my weight is creeping up, I thought I would give it go...again! My aims are to walk at least 10,000 steps a day and to reduce my carbohydrate intake.

My UGW is 126 - although that is very optimistic!

I have been mindful of how many starchy carbohydrates I eat and trying to eat less - this seems to be working well. I have been tracking my meals and exercising more - using every excuse to walk a few more steps. Does anyone have any recommendations on upping the amount of protein?
29 Aug - 147 - not such a good week! (+1.6lb)
I have been tracking, but it looks like I need to keep an eye on what I am eating at lunch times - if I eat more at lunch then have a big dinner, it doesn't work well on the scales. Unfortunately, we had some gorgeous bread and cheese for lunch - and I ended up eating lots! I did lots of walking, and body combat classes, but this isn't enough! I'm now back at work, so hopefully being busy will help to keep me focused.

I have been tracking which is easier now that I am back at work and I'm so busy that I can't hear the call of chocolate or the chance to rummage in food cupboards! I've been eating fewer starchy carbs at lunch which seems to work well. It would be nice to get into the 130s!!!

I've carried on tracking and I have been as honest as I can - which makes a change! I've also not eating starchy carbs at lunch time, which works when looking at the bathroom scales. Still a long way to go though! I did eat out tonight and had some lovely garlic bread - so the scales may not be so kind tomorrow!!

09/17-193.8-(Trend Weight: 192.2)- The scale is up still from last week’s travel. 2 more days of travel this week and then September should slow down. At home in my “safe zone” days are going well. It’s the travel, the lack of movement, the restaurants when out of town that are biting me in my rear. Clearly I need to finally learn how to handle these situations better. Even with the travel, next weeks weight should be improved. I absolutely cannot let this scale go any higher!
