10 pounds
Ugh. 10 pounds. Through problems at work, other issues going on and whatnot, I let it go and gained 10 pounds over 6 months. We all have done it at some point or another. Now it's just facing it down and buckling down again for the next 6 months. 😒 But it'd be nice to just keep ignoring reality🤣

Sorry to hear it, @sollyn23l2 . I suspect most of us long-termers have had ups and downs, and the big deal is catching and reversing before it adds up to a lot, which you're doing. Good show!
As I'm certain you know, 10 pounds in 6 months averages about 200 calories a day. I know that's not inconsequential with a low calorie allowance, but I know you have the skills. Last time I did an intentional re-loss, I decided to go super slow. Retrospectively, it was around a 100-150 calorie daily deficit, and about as close as I could feel to painless.
Wishing you success . . . and expecting it, given who I'm talking to.

I’m so sorry. I gained 2 pounds overnight and know part of it is water weight but I also binged the day before and that didn’t help! Back on track today and every day is my goal. I have 900 calories set 5 days a week and 2000 two days a week. It’s tough on those five days but great for two. You could try something similar to help lose that weight. And btw I am in the process of losing the 20 pounds I gained after a 70 pound loss. After I reach this goal my next goal is 20 more pounds ata time until I lose 100 more.

Thank You! I know I can do it, just back to tracking those calories again. Might take me the next 6 months, but I'll make it. I just let myself get out of the habit. And yeah, like you say, I figure I've probably been overeating by a couple hundred calories a day, so just doing a small deficit now.

You'll make it. One day at a time is all it takes. Unfortunately, because this was over 6 months, I know mine wasn't water weight, but oh well 🤷♀️

I was in the same boat in March. I felt completely drained by the feeling of dieting everyday just to maintain. But, when I jumped up about 10 lbs I had to get it together again. I will say, now that I’m back on target, I do feel better and glad it’s behind me. Sometimes we just need the mental break, as long as we don’t let it slide for too long. Your post is refreshing and honest, and a good reminder to set limits as well.
For reference I lost an average of .76 lbs per week. Proof that there’s absolutely nothing wrong with losing less than a lb a week to reach your goals. Take as much time as you need, just be consistent and you’ll be there before you know it.

@ddsb1111 yeah, pretty much the same story with me, I was just drained by life generally I think. I do plan on taking my time. Lost .5 pounds this past week, so about right on target.

I hear you and I feel you! I dropped 9 so far and want to lose about 5 lbs or more. It's a vicious cycle most of my life gaining and losing, but I normally keep it off for 4 years at a time. I'm 55 so well you know that it's difficult at my age to lose even a pound! I went on vacation for a week recently and didn't gain more! I ate pretty well there and didn't over indulge or snack much and I tried to do some walking even a little each day. I love eating healthy… but I also love ALL foods which is my problem haha. You got this girl. Focus on one week at a time. I try to splurge a little one day on weekend a week to keep my sanity, but if I go over my calories oh well. Slow and steady wins the race! Do what you feel you need in order to lose it at the pace you want to. I'm here for support if you need it! :)

Down .5 pounds this week. It ain't much, but it'll get me there 1 week at a time. I may have stood much longer in front of the caramel ice cream than is societally appropriate, but didn't buy it. I knew if I did I'd probably eat the whole pint in one sitting. Ben and Jerry's my old nemesis, we meet again

I resonate with that. 😉
My favorite coffee shop, where I go with my rowing buddies multiple times a week in summer after rowing, has the most beautiful pastries. Unlike some other places in town that have beautiful-looking pastries, these are as delicious as they look. (How do I know? On the truly rare occasion, I have one.) But every single time, while I'm waiting for my skim latte, no flavor, to come up, I'm admiring them in the glass display case. Waiting for the coffee is a good excuse to make the societally inappropriate lengthy admiration less obvious.
Hang in there @sollyn23l2 - you're getting this done. Nice work!

My weakness is donuts, and I make it a point on days I'm feeling strong to stop by them at the grocery store and stare them into submission, just as a little test of willpower. (Of course, on days I'm feeling stressed or tired, I make it a point to AVOID that section of the store completely!)

Lol, this is the way.

You all can do it, we’ve all got this, as we have done well in the past. I’m in the same boat, 10 pounds to re-lose. So far so good. I found walking seems to motivate me for keeping with my food plan for the day. I’m back to walking inside atm after a pretty serious foot injury last Feb. Most of the pain is gone but it still stiffens up pretty bad. It already feels good to lose the bloated feeling in my abdomen and get back the motivation to make reasonable decisions for favorable outcomes. At my age health needs to come first (75). Short walks, 10 minutes each and a reasonable 1200 cals is my goal. Weighing daily this time.

yes I am in the same boat. Very easy to gain 10 pounds and I seem to have managed it in 3 months, go me! Life happens. I know I can lose it but it’s a pain the…

Lost another .5 pounds. Took two weeks this time, but nowhere to go but forward. I figure if I'm not gaining I'm winning 😆

Sweet carbs are always whispering to me. So satisfying!
Our bodies evolved to seek them out whenever possible. Our bodies were designed to gain weight whenever possible in case food was scarce later. In fact, it's a human superpower to be able to gain 10lbs quickly— we might not be here today if our ancestors couldn't do that. So, as much as I get annoyed with putting on unnecessary weight (which I do all the time), I try to remember that my body is supposed to do that. The only thing stopping me is an intellectual intervention.

Down another .5 pounds. The scale had jumped up about a pound day before yesterday... but went right back down. I know it was just water weight because I've been tracking on Libra. I highly recommend it for anyone who's not using it.
Buuutttt.... I'm getting so flipping tired of it. The hunger started really setting in (and yes, I eat mostly whole foods. But I want all the junk all the time 😆)

So how close / far are you at this point from where you want to be?

I'm 7 pounds away. At this rate it'll probably take at least another 3 months, probably 4.
2 -
I know the feeling.
Too many wobbly pops and snacks and bam I'm up 10lbs too. I know what needs to be done to get back to normal and am feeling motivated to get back on track!

Well I've been hovering @ 156-158lbs 😡 instead of 153-155 😎 for a full year to the day now.
I guess that's a kittens lot worse than the 149lbs I hit by the summer of 2020 having spent lots of time walking trails. But a large kitten litter better than the ~169 (could even be 170+lbs) I had rebounded to a year or so later.
Thankfully the Bengal tiger sized litter of 100+ extra ones from a decade ago are not clamoring for a return… so there's that.4 -
Following and glad to hear another .5 down. The last 7 is absolutely the most annoying. You’re doing everything right, and the results will come.

Another member here of the 'oops, gotta get rid of those extra 10lbs' club. Yup, would be great to ignore those 10lbs, but in my case it's hard to ignore with my pants digging into my stomach 🤪 fingers crossed we can all get our act back together!
2 -
🤣 honestly, the pants are what got me too... I was finally at the point where I couldn't keep them buttoned up and had to leave the button open, because I don't have new pants money just because I gained a few extra pounds.

This made me laugh wayyyyyyy too hard. :)

Down another pound! Getting closer to my goal. This is the part where things really start dragging though. I've already been doing this a couple of months, and know I'll have to keep maintaining indefinitely. I think that's why so many diets fail at keeping the weight off. The monotony that comes when you're no longer seeing the scale go down.
3 -
I think the change in exercise is the key once you hit your target. I have lost 33 lbs but I go to the gym 4 times a week as well as walk the dog. It sure is not an easy journey. Keep it up!

I finally reached my goal today and lost those 10 pounds. 4 months. It took 4 months. Which, really, isn't too bad. 10 pounds in 4 months means I lost a little over .5 pounds per week.
Some things I learned: I don't have to track perfectly, I don't necessarily have to weigh EVERYTHING, but I do have to track everything I eat, or I start gaining more weight than I would like. It just forces me to be more honest about what I eat. Intuitive eating is not for me. I will intuitively eat myself to 15 pounds heavier than I like to be, and frankly, I'm just not ok with that. I can eat carbs. Lots of carbs in fact. As much carbs as I want. It's things with lots of fat that cause me to gain weight easily. I'm a creature of habit. If I get started on a routine, I'll stick to it as long as I don't start allowing "just for today" exceptions. Just for today turns into just for this week turns into just for this month turns into just for this 6 months.

ETA: when I say "as much as I want".... I mean within my calorie allotment...

Congratulations!! It takes courage to step on the scale after a period of slacking on the tracking. Most times I know I’ll see a gain, also most times my guesstimate gain is much lower than the actual. Those “just for today’s” are dangerous for me, as well. When I get away with one, I think, this is great! why not 2? Before I know it, having that extra thing becomes a habit that I pay for in pounds of flesh.
Maybe you could celebrate by having a little of that caramel ice cream treat. Good job!!!!

Congratulations . . . both on reaching your goal weight and on your deepening insight.
Figuring out what we, as an individual, need to do - that's a solo sport, IMO. You're achieving championship status with that.
Well done!
