I do hope Lucy is better not fun having to carry them let alone worry. A walk before the office this morning with Koda I have decided I would keep track of his mileage on our walks I know he does way more than that each day! This is Koda when he is resting lol

@77tes I hope Lucy's foot is better. That was quite a walk. That counts as strength training session. Your kettle bell/purse is doing it's job. lol.

Today was a busy day. Managed to get 20 minutes worth of exercises in and BARELY stayed within calorie range. Grabbed a Burger King Texas burger. They are so good, but wow, the calories are a killer. Felt good to have that much beef.

🦩🧘♀️🌹🦩🌺🦩🌹🧘♀️🦩I am a person who values the health and fitness of body, mind, and spirit.
In August I am focusing on my morning routine with 5 minutes of healthy habits first thing each morning, based on Shaolin monks routine.Plan of Action.
Hydration: drink a glass of warm water with the juice of a quarter lemon added. ✅✅✅✅✅ I had to discontinue the lemon juice as it was giving me hives, but still having the warm drink in the form of herbal tea.
Stretching: 1 minute of general stretches, either yoga, Pilates or Tai Chi. ✅✅✅✅✅ I have increased this and now do 15+ minutes of flex.
Strength: 1 minute of general leg/core exercises. + short walk.✅✅✅✅✅ Again I have increased this since the beginning of the month.
Muscles: Feed with some protein, (yoghurt, and a banana) before any other food. ✅✅✅✅✅ Daughter has gifted me a jar of pure collagen powder which I am adding to one of my morning drinks.
Memory: Recall yesterday in reverse. ✅✅✅✅✅ I was doing written log, but found it was quite repetitive as I’m have a loose schedule every day because of my Solid Habits.Cue: Getting out of bed. (I have already prepared the lemon drink before bed the previous evening).Celebration: He Man salute. ⚔️ I HAVE THE POWER ⚔️Reward: Herbal tea.
Wk1: 😀Wk2: 😀Wk3: 😀Wk4: Wk5:This has been a useful process this month. I have incorporated elements into my daily routine going forward.

Lucy is fine. My husband is really good with splinters and such, and it wasn’t a bee sting since she had no allergic reaction.
My daughter is having a rough time. Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers.I got in another hospital lifting session with my purse/kettlebell. Today’s song is “Good Day Sunshine“ in honor of my granddaughter Rose, who is 18 today.🥰
@hcoleman232 , I checked that 12 minute strength book from Hoopla. It gave me a better to do my bench chest presses in my daughter’s hospital room. Thanks for sharing.

Just a quick check-in. The weather is a bit cooler with lower humidity so I got 16 miles on my bike. 1 hr and 29 minutes vigorous heart rate zone. I am pleased. Hope everyone is doing well.
@TerriRichardson112 That is surprising that you figured out the hives were from the lemon water. Good job increasing the exercises.

@77tes I am glad Lucy is doing better. Many prayers for your daughter and you. I hope she gets some relief soon. Great job on exercising at the hospital. Thank you for the Beatle song. 26 days! woot! Played tennis after work vs a walk. That was a nice change altho this week I have been a bit gimpy. I wish injuries would just HEAL and be done. I felt so good the beginning of the month and now feel like they are ramping up. Will ease off again I guess altho I did get the VO2max up to 42 this week.
Thank you all for keeping us going this month. I do enjoy hearing everyone's day. And @77tes I think your daughter is struggling with major illness so cheers to you for doing all you can!

Did some balance exercises in place of my yoga. Then Lucy and I got in an uneventful morn walk before heading out to the hospital.

@Learningmoments The lemon juice was the only thing I was doing differently. So I stopped taking it and the hives cleared up quite quickly. I have the same reaction (hives) to insect bites, which are very itchy and sore, and were always very slow to heal.

@SummerSkier I agree. Injuries take so long to heal. I think you have done very well, but don't push too hard. Great job on the VO2 Max. I agree the interactions of everyone is a great help. I am glad you got a tennis session. That always beats a walk.

@TerriRichardson112 I would not have expected that the lemon water would cause hives. Great job figuring it out. That is the beauty of small changes, right? I am glad the hives cleared.
I have been thinking about what habit for September. So many to choose from. Lol. I also signed up for Biggest Loser Challenge. I am a little scared because my weight just doesn't seem to want to lose. So I am getting really geared up to be tough and make it happen. I am thinking about my goal for September is: "I am strong and fit" focusing on strength through calisthenics. My grand daughter is turning 11 yo October 7th. I told her I would take her to a bungee workout. I want to feel confident enough to do it with her. Any tips or suggestions on weight loss, BLC, or my habit, or anything else would be appreciated.

Before I heard the good news, I wasn’t sure that I’d be able to do my strength training in her room today. Fortunately, Lucy helped by waking up before 5 am 🙄, giving me enough time to do my lifting routine and my yoga before the sun was up and we could get our walk.

@Learningmoments Weighing food helped me learn exactly how many calories I was consuming, and during weight loss I was strict with keeping at or under my allotted calories. A daily cardio workout (30+ minutes) also helped me reach my goal.
Yesterday I purchased a planner; I’m looking forward to tracking my progress, making notes and having a record of my struggles and accomplishments.

28 days done and done!
Hard to believe this month has flown by. Kids back to school. Daylight getting less. The entire year seems to have gone very quickly. Yes we will need to figure out Sept habits to work on soon for sure.

I’ll probably post the September challenge page some time today. Better early than late and my daughter might come home from hospital tomorrow.
Another good day of getting exercise in and visiting the hospital. One more session and I can claim my reward for lifting three times every week for the month of August. I’ve been keeping up with my yoga ,too although I am choosing shorter routines. Lucy is doing her part to help with the cardio.

One of my goals this year was to lower my cholesterol. Yesterday I had my physical and the cholesterol is down! 🎉 Healthy habits are paying off. 💪🏻🥦💦

Hooray for that wonderful test result @hcoleman232 ! I am so excited to see that!!!
🏆 (virtual participation trophy)I am a bodybuilder! I trained and ate like someone concerned about gaining strength. This month I did strength train, doing the 5 Big Lifts 3 times per week . I did cardio like walking or cycling the other days, and took one day per week off exercise (except yoga/flexibility). I followed my strength training with a high protein meal. So every day was part of my strength training program.
I am a woman who strength trains regularly to maintain muscle like my friend Jenn!!
I’m calling August an official success because I actually got in 3 sessions of strength training for the whole month. I’m not sure I can claim this as an official habit because it is hardly feeling automatic. I sang a little bit of “I Am Woman!” You know those words “I am strong, I am invincible…”
This final week was particularly difficult, but I got those workouts in despite the difficulties.
Recap of August - My muscles are stronger. My bones are more dense. I have reduced my risk of chronic disease. And I enhanced my mobility and balance. I even enhanced my cognitive function. (None of those results are measurable at this point, but I know that’s what strength training does).
I learned to listen to my body and adjusted when I had overdone.
It may not be an automatic habit yet, but I mean to keep it up until it is a natural part of my life.

@77tes I am so proud of you!!! You did amazing with your weight training especially with your daughter in the hospital. How is your daughter? Did she get released from the hospital? I love that you broke into song of "I am Woman". That is priceless!
@hcoleman232 Thank you for the advice. I have been measuring by grams and watching my portions. I am trying to get plenty of cardio. I am also trying to get a balanced plate. It is quite a juggling act to get all the variables right. Congratulations on your cholesterol! That is a great reward. I would love to hear more about what you put in your planner. I journal, but I feel like I don't quite know how to stay organized in the journal. I keep trying different things. Glad you had a great vacation.
@SummerSkier This month has gone fast. The whole year flew by. You did a great job this month. You listened to your injury and worked with it. That is big!
I am declaring myself as an active person who listens to her body, embraces modifications, and do a variety of activities that I LOVE! I have gotten back to some of my activities that I want to do more. I will continue my observations (July goal) and add variety of activities (August goal) as I progress in my September goals. Thank you to all of you. I appreciate your support and your example of starting small habits. I learned a lot about small habits. They are easier to observe changes and improvements. It is easier to compare one thing at different time periods. Then I can see what affected those changes. I look forward to continue learning about how to create small habits.

I feel like I hit a wall today ! Just so exhausted. I guess the adrenaline has worn off and I really need a rest day. My daughter will not be coming home until at least Sunday. And since it’s a holiday weekend, I won’t be surprised if it gets delayed again.
I did my yoga and took Lucy for a walk.
