Happy Monday! Cool day here with temps in the 60's. No pool today but I really don't mind just staying in and doing nothing today. It was a busy weekend. If I get the energy I might go through my closet and get rid of some clothes that I don't wear anymore. I would like to purge and get rid of a lot of stuff but I am so lazy. lol

Jackie, glad you have nice weather to work in your garden. Even better I love that George is feeling better and eating. I wouldn't be so happy with a mouse in my house, was it dead or alive?

Lin, that is terrible that the lady didn't post the service, what is the problem?

    Barbie, hope all is well.

Have a good day and enjoy the sunshine if you have any.

Hello, got the last August birthday card in the mail. A few Zoom classes, a bit of cleaning and a lot of work to get a CD renewed and other ones moved to a different bank. It was horrendous. I got the same teller as my last trip there. No one else was available. This is the person who didn’t know what fifty five hundred was……We had a similar visit today. This time she only got me once with the wrong amounts and I had signed for them….we then had to start over and I refused to sign any transfers until I was shown the screen where she had entered the amounts. She wanted me to approve without seeing them and just wait to get a receipt. Nope. I finally did the math on a piece of paper. Showing her the total of my deposits in my 2 accounts, then how much I wanted in a CD this time, the duration, and the amount of money remaining that I wanted a check for.

Honestly instead of $6,400 remaining, she said I only had $400……how can this person work in a financial institution and how is it she makes so many mistakes with my account? She cannot be perfect for everyone else.

Then I got my check and zipped over to deposit it with another bank. Absolutely different experience. Perfect transaction and this teller was friendly as well.

I have a half day online agricultural seminar tomorrow. And a shorter one on Wednesday

Hoping everyone is okay. Hi George.

Hope everyone is well. It has been a day of long seminars and a few Zoom classes. I missed one as a friend called to update me on her medical condition and to let me know her son is having some complex heart surgery late in September. It was nice to catch up.

Time to make a snack and then one more class and my Tuesday night Live YouTube.

    Be well.

😀 Hooray for me I went to the dentist this morning and left Annie at home. She was a very good girl but was beside herself with delight when I got home. Besides the cleaning, they did x rays and the dentist looked at my teeth and said maybe next year he'd consider extraction of my other wisdom teeth.

😀 Another hooray for me. With the help of two YouTube videos and my own best thinking I found out how to use the battery powered hedge trimmer. I cut back the lavender plant and it was easy.

😀 I got a letter from the Toyota dealer that something needs to be upgraded in the computer in my car so I made an appointment in two weeks. That will require leaving Annie home longer than she's been left before. Baby steps to new behaviours.

Happy Tuesday! I almost forgot to post. Went for lunch with friends from the block I used to live with Babe. Then I took a nap and forgot about posting. Getting up early to take Lisa’s parents to the airport tomorrow so early bedtime tonight. Will catch up tomorrow.

Happy Wednesday. I’ve been struggling to sign in and was about to give up when tapping practically every key got me in!

We’ve finally and thankfully had some heavy rain so I’m waiting for the angry clouds to move away before walking George. Yesterday I had to chase the vet practice to sort out a date for his procedures. Nothing had been done so now September 11th is the earliest they can fit him in. I’m considering searching for an independent vet at the end of the year.

Friends phoned before I had even showered to ask if I would like eggs but by chooks are producing at the moment. We then talked for an hour when I learned two locals I’ve met in the past have died, one an extremely nice bachelor in his 80’s who went out of his way to help others. He lived in the same village as Sheila so I will phone her to let her know. She also told me that mutual friends who recently adopted a Jack Russel/Dachshund puppy after losing their old dog, are now looking to rehome it because it gets sick in the car and keeps running away. A typical puppy in other words but they wouldn’t take advice when we suggested they might find it hard work.

I have received a suspicious letter that purports to be from my bank telling me my bank has told their bank I have changed my bank account and to phone a number on the letter. Obviously that doesn’t make sense since both are the same but I will now have to contact the bank to let them know there is a new scam!

Sandy, all I will say about that early morning mouse is, it was alive but probably didn’t survive once it was taken back outside!

Fabulous teapots Lin! What an appalling story about the bank teller who can’t even add up and she is still employed there! You must have been very patient not to call a manager. I’m afraid incompetence is everywhere today. David had his car serviced a couple of weeks ago and mentioned a loud squeal in the engine but when he collected it from the garage he was told they couldn’t find anything wrong. On his way home the noise was still emitting from the engine but luckily a builder who was repairing David’s barn roof recognised the sound, put his hand in under the bonnet and pulled up a very loose fan belt. He also noticed the windscreen wash bottle was empty! He went back to complain and the only reaction from the garage owner was raised eyes to the heavens!

Barbie, I find the battery powered tools are amazing. Yesterday I used a wood saw to cut up thick branches.

The sunshine has arrived so I will walk George.

    Take care

    Jackie 🥰

Happy Wednesday! I am back from taking Lisa's parents to the airport. I got up at 6:45 which is early for me but I hate seeing them spend $100 on a limo when I can drive them for free. I might need a nap but it seems like it could be a pool day and they might close the pool after Labor Day which is Monday. I had to keep my car out of the garage last night as they are blacktopping our driveways today. It takes a couple of days to dry so no garage until dry.

Jackie, just ewww on the mouse situation. But Brady is a good boy for getting them out of your house. Sorry about your friend who died and all puppies are crazy, it takes time and patience to train them. How awful for David, his mechanic is either dumb or thinks seniors don't know the difference. I hate bringing my car to my dealer for oil changes as they always find a million other things to fix or so they say.

Barbie, good girl Annie, you are learning mom always comes back. I am surprised you still have a wisdom tooth, I thought we all got them pulled at some time. Good job on learning from You Tube. I do that also when I need to fix something. Annie will be a good girl for your Toyota appointment, she told me so. lol

Lin, what an experience you had with that teller. I am not sure I would have had the patience without asking for someone else. I think you should let the manager know how incompetent she was. I am glad you finally got her to understand and use the correct numbers.

Have a good day everyone. Stay healthy.

Hi! Didn’t sleep well last night. I am pooped now. Did some laundry today, went to get gas for my car this morning and that station was packed to the gills! I got the last pump. Buses, work vans, city trucks…some of everything. Most everyone was going into the store to buy food and coffee. Did some Zoom classes, attended another farm seminar and talked to a friend about church financial business.

I will be back when I am a bit more energetic.

Sandy, enjoy the pool while you can. It was good of you to take Lisa’s folks to the airport. That’s a good amount to save.

Jackie, wow, some heavy rain. We are at the point of needing rain. I think we all agree, a puppy is always a handful regardless of the breed. I am sorry it didn’t work out for them. I hope Sheila is feeling okay.

Barbie, I am impressed with how well you are doing with Annie. It is wonderful! I hope the update won’t take Iong. I had to do that once and it didn’t take long.

Time to put away my clean towels and curl up to read for a while if possible.

😀 I had a successful experience with the battery powered trimmer. When I cleaned up the debris, I noticed that the lavender plant looks like it was trimmed by a beginner (like a six year old using scissors for the first time). I have more trimming to do later in the summer so I'll have the opportunity to improve my skills.

😀 Sandy, you are so thoughtful to take Lisa's parents to the airport. The drive to the airport from here is more than I could do, I would have given them the hundred dollars so I wouldn't have to drive.

😀 Lin, I have to remind myself of how well Annie is doing because she still jumps up on me and grabs my arm with her strong jaws. There are so many puppy things that she doesn't do any more and life is much more peaceful here

😀 Jackie, good for George saving you from the mouse. Hope the vet can take care of George soon.

😀 We had a bit of rain this morning but it won't last long.

Happy Thursday! Meeting today and then my sponsee and I meet at Wendy's for a one on one. After that I have a stop at Walmart to pick up the ingredients for making my meatball appetizer for a benefit I am going to on Saturday. Cheryl's Sister in Law's sister died from cancer when young so her sibling have a benefit in their yard to raise money for cancer. This year's theme is Mardi Gras so I bought a cheap t shirt from Amazon to wear with some beads. They have food and games so it should be fun. Sunday is Babe's birthday so Cheryl, Marisa and I will be going to a Mass that I have in his name and then to cemetery to bring flowers. After we are going to a fest to see our nun friend who works at the fest. Busy weekend so no pool time, luckily they are leaving it open until September 7 so hope to be able to enjoy it next week.

Barbie, I don't mind driving anywhere during the day but I don't like driving at night especially if I don't know the area. My macular doesn't like darkness. lol Good for you with the trimmer, I don't think I would have any idea what to do with one. Glad to hear Annie is doing better each time she is left home. She will get used to it but always be excited to see you. ❤️

Lin, sorry you didn't sleep well and hope you made up for it today. Sounds like you get your gas at Costco where the lines are always long.

Jackie, hope all is well with you and the critters.

    Have a good day.

Hi, it was a hot day today and no rain. Maybe over the weekend. It seemed as if it should be Friday rather than Thursday. Did a bit of cleaning, some hand laundry, Zoom classes and as always, paperwork!

Barbie, I am glad that you feel good about the things you are accomplishing and yes, Annie is growing up bit by bit.

Sandy, another busy day for you as well. It is good of you to meet regularly with your sponsee. Cannot believe it is time for a celebration of Babe’s life once again. And so many things this weekend. Moving at high speed!

Jackie, hello, and hope you are well and a hello to dear George as well. Did you talk to your bank about that odd letter you received?

    Moving along.

😣 Famous last words about Annie. I came home from my afternoon walk and found the TV remote chewed into three pieces. I got out the extra remote and ordered a new one from Amazon to be delivered today.

Happy Friday! I have an appointment for a back injection today and will be happy to get it. They cancelled my last appointment do to an emergency so I had to wait an extra month and my back is sore. I have a pick up at Walmart and going to the Dollar Tree for some cards. I am hoping to go to pool but it might be too cold so I will take a nap instead. lol

Barbie, I don't mean to laugh but Annie reminds me of two of our Old English Sheepdogs. When they were puppies and out of the crate we came home on day to chewed up cabinets, the drapes pulled down from the living room window and the wall to wall rug chewed up. I was glad because the house was still decorated from the 50's so we were able to remodel to current times. lol Annie will grow out of it, just don't leave anything valuable laying around.

Lin, the older we get the faster the time goes. I can't believe it's almost September and summer is almost over. It's a cool day here at only 58 degrees F right now and getting to 71.

Hope all is good with you Jackie.

    Have a good day.

Good morning and apologies for not posting. We were warned Autumnal weather was on the way so I threw myself into all sorts of outdoor tasks and looks like just in time! These days I fall asleep as soon as I relax but today my only plan is to do some housework downstairs.

George had an appointment for his annual booster yesterday morning but during our walk on the moors, before driving to the vet practice, the receptionist called to ask if we could postpone the visit because they were dealing with an emergency. He is now booked in Monday first thing. When I called them separately about booking his operation they didn’t appear to have arranged it so now the earliest opportunity is September 11. I wasn’t happy because it is still bothering him but when we go there Monday I will ask the vet to confirm it isn’t becoming infected again.

The cucumber plants have been removed from my greenhouse because the few left were beginning to shrivel up but I will certainly still be picking the tomatoes in October! This was yesterday’s fayre.

    processed-34F116AE-9A53-42FC-AAC9-76E68CB4449E.jpeg

Barbie, I remember Betty finding so many items to chew and as much as I would hide or at least think everything was out of reach, she would find something to destroy! The worst was a shopping bag full of packs of dog and cat treats that was left in the middle of a table and I don’t know to this day how she managed to get to them because she was never agile! I was amazed she wasn’t sick!

Lin, I tried several time to get through to my bank but the waiting time was ridiculous, perhaps because thousands of members received the letter. They had major problems a couple of months ago after a ransomware cyber attack. Their IT department literally pulled a plug to switch the system down but not before our names and addresses were targeted. The crooks were apparently very cross with the bank but we are assured no more info was lifted so perhaps the letter is the best the overseas thieves could manage. Certainly their use of the English language is amateurish!

Sandy, I hope your back is already feeling a lot better. That’s a funny tale about your 2 Old English sheepdogs and you definitely had the right attitude!

George and I managed to walk before rain arrived but it is now looking miserable outside so I’ll crack on with housework that was put aside yesterday to get more pruning done. I’m seriously thinking of getting a quote from a local gardening business to finish off the job, especially the heavier and higher branches.

    Happy Saturday and take care

Happy Saturday! My meatballs are in the crockpot and my sheets are in the washer. It's not really hot but should be in the low 70's for the backyard benefit. I will bring a light up jacket as well. I don't think Cheryl and I are staying long because she has to get home for her dog but we will see.

Jackie, I get so many scam emails and scam texts I don't even open them. I can usually tell by the email address it is coming from that it is not legit. My back does feel much better thank you. I just have to remember to not overdo. I do hope that when you take George to the vet they will move up your appointment.

Hello to Lin and Barbie, hope you both are feeling good and enjoying life.

Just putting along here. I was kind of shocked yesterday when I heard from a friend about a mutual friend’s stepson who suffered a very severe stroke and was on life support. They had just made the decision to shutoff life support and they were harvesting his organs at a local hospital yesterday.

I just sat in a corner and pondered life for a while. I was so sorry about the entire situation.

So I didn’t really do a lot more.

Doing lots of Zoom classes today and a dance celebration later this afternoon.

    Wishing everyone a good weekend.

Jackie, I trust George can get the treatment he needs. Sorry he had to wait so long.

Sandy, take care today, don’t hurt your back now that you just received an injection.

Barbie, sorry Annie isn’t 100% in the behavior department. But she is going pretty good.

😀 😀 Sandy, you're right, even the best of dogs gets into stuff. Shilo, the golden retriever who was the Mary Poppins of dogs (practically perfect in every way), chewed on a piece of furniture and stole bread and sandwiches off the counter in our house, our RV, and at a friend's house. My darling Sasha chewed up one of Jake's favourite shoes, a special personal book, an expensive hard cover library book, and the wires in the electric blanket. Brandy routinely pulled the car food dish off the kitchen counter and ate the cat's food. it's probably because I'm alone and a bit more fragile now that Annie's antics are so troubling.

😀 Lin, I love the Annie get your gun teapot. A dance celebration sounds like fun.

😀 Jackie, best wishes for good treatment for George.

😀 I made chicken soup today. One serving for supper with brown rice and the rest in pint jar single serving portions for the freezer.

    Hello friends.

Sandy, getting to everything you planned for this weekend. Well done.

Barbie, yes, the round the world dance celebration was fun. She would call out the name of a country and then might at least mention the name of the dance we were starting. And then we were off—she is very good at cueing so the people I could see in her studio were never lost. The only little stop was when she took time to put on her jangly skirt to do a belly dance. At some point she said she would put the class up on Burnalong (if her recording worked). A lovely way to spend 45 minutes.

Jackie, answering the phone has gotten hazardous!

Meanwhile, my old email address stopped working late this afternoon of course with a weekend and a Holiday, there will be no one to talk to. Same issue as last time, I cannot connect as the https:// address is not coming in as a secure address so I am not allowed to continue. Technology, ack!! Unfortunately I still receive a lot of my email there. Fie!

Be safe. It is getting very dry here. No rain once again. It’s not really possible to weed right now. I guess it just be weedy here.

Take care, off to watch public television for a while.

George has this morning received his booster jab and I picked up his Bravecto tablets. The vet Sue asked about our daily walks and if he needs the more powerful wormer because I hadn’t collected tablets for some time. That was because I’m using up Betty’s supply but she agrees his lifestyle doesn’t require him to take one often, maybe every 3 months. They are included in his Pet plan insurance so I don’t get a discount for buying fewer! It was cooler and trying to rain when we left home so I wore a knitted top under my rain jacket but when we got into town the sun was shining and people were wearing t-shirts and shorts so I was overdressed and hot. On the way home I let George off lead out of the moors car park but that turned out to be a bad decision because a lady appeared behind us walking 2 Greyhounds. He refuses to walk if anyone is behind us so I moved to let them pass then decided to take a different path because George was trying to closely follow them. That was a waste of time because he ignored me and quickly trotted along their path, totally ignoring my calls and disappeared round a corner just as storm clouds arrived! Lady and greyhounds were walking back to the car park when I found him sniffing under a bush so his lead was put on and in torrential rain, we followed her back! He got the silent treatment on the way home and I made sure he couldn’t run upstairs and jump over my bed with wet paws while I changed out of my soaked denims! All good now! He is snoozing on a patch of sunlight in the garden room and I have hung a load of laundry in the same sunlight because torrential rain showers continue to scurry across the sky. September can be a beautiful month in England so I’ve got fingers crossed this is just a blip!

Yesterday I had planned to create chicken casserole in my slow cooker but then had problems with my washing machine when I set it to wash its drum. It tripped its switch on the mains box and left lumps of soap in the tray before refusing to clear the programme! By the time I worked my way through that issue it was too late to start a slow meal so preparing the casserole is my next job.

Happy Monday everyone. Love the teapot Lin, full of Eastern promise!

😀 Son called yesterday to tell me that he and long time lady friend had gotten married. They came for a visit last summer and again right after Jake died. They met originally in grade school and they reconnected a few years ago after her husband died. They are good together. Happy Monday/Labor Day! Got it all done yesterday and today is a pool/rest day. They are leaving our pool open until next Sunday so we get an extra week. My cleaning lady is coming today even though it is a holiday. She said she had nothing to do and it would be same price so since my son and his wife are coming tomorrow through Thursday I was happy. I will give her an extra $20 because of the holiday otherwise she couldn't come until Wednesday when they were already here and I prefer it clean when they get here. lol

Barbie, congratulations to your son and new daughter in law. A visit will be great time to celebrate.

Jackie, what did the Vet say about George's surgery? Is it still on or is he better? Little stinker got you and himself soak and wet he is a pistol that one. lol Sorry about your washer and hope you get to enjoy your casserole today.

Lin, did you put the url address in on it's own and not copy it from anything? I sometimes get those warnings and if I type in the address it seems to work. I did let one go through yesterday because it was the invite to my granddaughter's wedding and I needed some info from their website.

Enjoy your day today, sad summer is almost over.

Hello, it’s been a day of Zoom classes, laundry, and emails.

Sandy, I did type in the full address for my email. Made no difference. It seems their security certificate wasn’t working. I am happy that I was able to connect a little while ago. Lots of mail to clean out in just over 24 hours.

My other email address was working and I received a very long message from the wife of the one cousin I hear from once in a while. He has a very rare cancer and will have surgery next week, estimated at 4 to 5 hours. After some healing he will have a long course of radiation. She is very scared. I can understand that. He never admits to any fear.

Barbie, wow a newly married couple. I hope you will have a nice visit at the end of the month. Tell Annie to mind her manners. 😉

Jackie, well George didn’t help you out there in the pouring rain did he. I hope that no sniffles find you. How did your long cooking casserole turn out?

😀 It has been a long time since I've had difficulties with online ordering and delivery but over the weekend I had several.

😪 Annie chewed up another TV remote that I must have left in a tempting easy to get to place. I ordered a new one from Amazon (I had an extra so I wasn't desperate). When the new one came, I couldn't get the back off to put in batteries so I arranged a return and ordered a replacement. When the second one came the next day, I still couldn't take the back off so I went to my handy neighbour and he couldn't get it open, either. He said I'd probably have to pry it off with a knife, so I went home and pried it off with a knife, inserted batteries, and now it works.

😪 My regular order from Chewy via FedEx was delivered to the wrong address on Saturday. I found that out at bedtime so I messaged FedEx that the package was delivered to the wrong address. The next morning on my walk, I saw the package on another porch (a house that Google maps confuses with our house) so on the way to the grocery store I stopped and got the package. Yesterday, a driver from FedEx stopped at my house to ask about the package. He had followed up at the other house and talked to the people there. He said it was a new driver who didn't know the route.

😀 I tried to order a box from the US Post Office to mail a portion of Jake's ashes to his granddaughter in Ohio (daughter of his daughter who died) but the website wanted me to set up an account but wouldn't allow any password I tried to use. I was clearly frustrated until in the middle Monday night, I thought about what my friend who doesn't use a computer would do, and in the morning called USPS Customer Service and talked to a nice agent who set up my order and got the box on the way to me by the end of the day.

😀 After all of that I was delighted that the socks I ordered arrived in my mailbox as scheduled.

Happy Wednesday! John and Laurie arrived and we went to PF Changs for dinner last night. Today they are doing some shopping and I am going to TMobile to talk about my plan and possibly a new phone. We will go to Seasons 52 tonight to celebrate their belated birthdays from July and August. They leave in the morning to go to Wisconsin for a Brewers baseball game. They are trying to go to every baseball stadium in America which is 30 but 2 were damaged by weather.

Barbie, you have quite an experience over the weekend but it seems you have everything now. I didn't know you could mail ashes but I am sure Jake's granddaughter will appreciate them.

Lin, we are supposed to get rain today so hopefully you will also. No pool day as it's not very warm and only getting cooler everyday.

Jackie, hope you are getting beautiful weather like you expected.

    Have a good day everyone.

Not beautiful weather Sandy but a continual run of torrential showers and thunderstorms. Nothing much getting achieved outside and I’ll say at this point to Lin, be careful what you wish for when it comes to rain. I was at that stage a couple of weeks ago but now….!!🙄🌧️. George and I haven’t had a dry walk in days and tomorrow looks even worse. He is booked in for his operation next Thursday, something I will be glad to get done.

This morning was a haircut appointment so when I got soaked walking George I didn’t worry that my hair was a mess. I’m pleased with the cut that is styled a tiny bit longer than it used to be. It is completely grey now so I will consider highlight colours before Christmas. Received a cheerful text from my nephew Sven, my late brother John’s son, letting me know he proposed to his partner Helen last night and she accepted so a family wedding at some time in the future.

My friend Linda has been busy with family and at the moment has her son back living with her after an accident at work when he broke his leg and damaged a hip. He needed the hip replaced and is recuperating with her but we are meeting tomorrow and will find somewhere to enjoy our usual coffee and cake.

What a weekend Barbie! Hooray for your new socks though!

    Enjoy the birthday celebrations Sandy.

Your hen teapots are hilarious Lin!

    Take care and stay safe.

Barbie, what a lot of problems to overcome. Good for you. You really hung in there and made it through all of the issues. Good for you and glad your socks arrived and that you like them.

Jackie, yes, I know if you wish for something you may get something similar but not exactly what you had in mind. We did get a tiny bit of rain today but not enough to recharge foliage or crops. Luckily we did not get the 60 mph winds and large hail that were in the forecast. Glad George has his procedure scheduled. Enjoy coffee and treats with Linda.

I watched a YouTube video of Robson Green walking the length of Hadrian’s Wall. I found it quite interesting. Some beautiful scenery as well.

Sandy, I hope you are enjoying the visit with your son and daughter in law. I am sure you are. I hadn’t thought of P.F. Chang’s for a long time.

    Nothing else extremely interesting.

    Take care.
