Alright, MFP pals. I need some opinions. I want to get a heart rate monitor that also counts the calories burned. If you have one of these, what brand is it, where did you buy it and do you absolutley love it? Trying to do some research before I pay a pretty penny for one of these babies. Thanks guys!!

My recomendation is not to buy a HRM for solely for calories burned...

See post in "Heart Rate Monitor" if you want to know more about my opinion...

I have a polar ft60 which I specifically chose because i wanted calories burned to be more accurate, and it has a mock-vo2 test that is supposedto make it slightly more accurate than the other cheaper models.

But honestly what I use it for MOSTLY now is to monitor my heart rate -- I consider the calories burned to be a good general approximation and I like that a lot, but I like seeing my heart rate to make sure its not dropping too low (in which case - am I walking too slow? am I tired? hungry/thirsty? and then I try to correct it) and also I like seeing the improvement in cardio vascular fitness -- it used to be that my heartrate would stay pretty high for a looong time after I jogged a minute. Now it drops back down pretty quickly. That's a great sign of improved cardio health

I have a mio - it doesn't require a chest strap for the heart rate part (yay!). I just bought mine at Academy and it's also on the less expensive end. I wasn't ready to invest big $$ yet but this seems to work just fine.
