Arghh. I just seem to be stuck in the 133's. I am becoming convinced that somehow my metabolism did change with the colon resection. So despite the small upward bump, I'm going to focus on the positive, which is that my 7 day averages for both steps and kcals burned are both a bit higher than they were last week.
There is nothing much going on here. Last night, we went to a wake for our long-time family doctor, who is the father of our current primary care physicians. The good thing is that I managed to button and zip a pair of dress pants over my still somewhat extended belly. I was afraid I might not be able to do that. The bad thing is that it poured rain all the way down to Chevy Chase. And I do have to question the sanity of drivers who drive at twilight in the rain during rush hours without turning on their headlights! They seem to think that running lights are sufficient even though that leaves them with no rear lights except for brake lights, if they happen to use the brakes. And for some reason a huge percentage of these cars are gray or silver, which are the very hardest to see in foggy rain. So by the time we got home, my ratty brain was saying "just have some dinner and settle in for the evening." Thankfully, some other part of that brain said "have some dinner, rest a bit, and then get on that darned dreadmill." Which I did. Thinking about your committment to steps helped, Kelly.
Lois, I mixed up your trip for the baby shower with your trip to DL. Hope that up coming trip is rejuvinating. Sounds like your work is creating a need for that.
Sheesh, I'm going to assume that your trip will be sometime around the end of the month when you and I will again be the same age. As Lois would say, Bwahaha! ☺️
So what are my 7-day averages and what is my plan for this week? Last week my steps averaged 9,707, and my kcals burn averaged 1,668. As I said, better but needs work. One way to work on both is to get busy for the first 15 minutes or so after I eat so my body and brain can catch up with each other. Otherwise, I eat after I know that I've had enough and the rise in my blood sugar makes me sleepy and I sit. I also confess that I'm not logging as consistently as I should. I tend to log a full day at once and often the day after and not while my memory is still fresh. So need to find ways to do better with that, too.
Looking forward to hearing from everyone. Need to get busy. I had a late morning appointment with our financial advisor and here I still sit. The internet can be like a big piece of fly paper! LOL

Similar to you Sarah, where I'm just stuck in the 160-162 range.
My 7 day average of steps is 18,280 😯 Must have had some higher days in there, as I typically am getting in the 17k range. My brother's step challenge is really giving me the motivation to move more, which is awesome.
Teenagers… I tell ya 😶 They sure give us ups and downs. On the same day that our son got fired from his job for sleeping at work (in a dog bed yet)🤬… our daughter made her high school hockey team 🤩 In saying that, he really took accountability for his actions the next day. He woke up on his own, drove his sister to school at 730am, came back and took the dog for a run, then got all dressed up, printed resumes and went to a bunch of places to hand them out and talk to the managers. He got 3 on the spot interviews and 2 job offers - both in car detailing. The place he chose is giving him full time hours, higher than minimum wage and when he told them he's planning to go to college next fall for auto mechanics, they said they'd put him to part time to work around his schedule AND once he's done school, they'll give him an apprenticeship. I guess everything really does happen for a reason. And we're sooo happy for our daughter. I've never seen her this excited to play. Her positively and resilience this past year after surgery has been amazing and she's really looking forward to playing hockey again.
Sarah - Great job on getting on that treadmill!! Amazing what our minds can do hey. Sometimes I'm driving home from work thinking, I'll just watch a show tonight and chill with my dog. Then I get home and feel guilty lol so I go for a walk outside or go on the treadmill, and man… what a mood booster that is. How's Teddy been doing?
Lois & Sheesh - I hope your week is going well 😊

Happy Thursday everyone… I'm holding in the 245-247 range and I'm ok with that. I'm still super tired from last week's travel and the stress of work. I'm just about packed for my Disneyland adventure with Rhea tomorrow afternoon. Thankfully my DIL doesn't mind driving so I'm going to leave it as much to her as I am able. Our pink Fa-Boo-Lous shirts arrived AND my Minnie Mouse shoes arrived also!! Super excited about those. I'm going to give them a go tonight to be able to wear them on Saturday! My Mickey and Minnie shoes are going to be my DL only shoes…and I'm so excited. Hubby just rolled his eyes when I showed him. LOL!!! Our temps are finally coming down, not fast enough, but we're just below 100. It's raining today with a high of 95… I can't wait for the low 80's again.
Sarah - the devil is in the details, and I think you may be over-analyzing your numbers. You’re still healing, and I’m confident you’ll notice more progress soon. I know you enjoy statistics and tracking, but don’t let them turn you into your own worst enemy. As deeply as you examine the negatives, try to balance that by focusing on all that you’ve been able to achieve since your surgery. You’re not doing anything wrong, and I believe you’re heading in the right direction. I also love how dedicated you’ve been to your treadmill - that commitment is going to pay off.
Kelly - kids are amazing. Congrats to your son and his progress as he matures!! And I'm sure Ella can't wait to get back on the ice. I recall how I felt after my ACL and how I wanted to be back on the trail and it was amazing when I returned to it. Great job on getting your steps in every day!
I know Sheesh's vacation is soon. I'm not sure if she's on it now or next week for her birthday. Hoping all is well and you're having a fantastic time.

LW: 127.8
TW: 127.4Dang it! Yesterday morning I saw 126.8, but alas, this is my weight today. Too much dinner and sodium last night. Sorry to be posting a day late. We're leaving on the 25th, so I've been doing a little last minute shopping, and making sure my calendar is clear . . changing appointments I had, etc. I had a hair appointment yesterday, as Lois says, the 3 hour tour one. Then, hubby finally felt recovered enough from Alaska trip to go out, so I never got back to my laptop.
Sarah, you're doing great, especially because you're really still recovering. Recovery from that kind of surgery takes time. I actually can't believe how much you're walking already! The thing that's worked for me this time is not moving more, but prioritizing intake, focusing on adequate protein (I try for 60 grams or close to it), vegetables, some fruit, and water. And, I've been logging, which has always been my weakness. I had an Apple Fitness badge challenge this month to close my exercise ring 18 times. My trainer and I love getting all the badges, ha ha, so that has kept me moving consistently, but like I say, not as much walking as you and Kelly do at all. For me, it's really about intake and consistently having a deficit. I log on my iPhone because I can do it right when I'm going to eat it, if not before I eat it. I can't remember well if I wait to get on my laptop, and I can't check the nutrients to see how that's going, and adjust what I decide to eat. When we eat out, I just guess as best I can, and usually over estimate rather than under estimate. The upcoming trip and birthday have helped provide motivation for me.
Kelly, congratulations on the reduction, and your steps are so awesome. I think I'm too old to do that much walking, lol. And congrats to Ella too! I'm so impressed with her making the team despite recent surgery. That's so exciting for her. And, your son has shown tremendous accountability and maturity, so that says quite a lot about good parenting Good job!
Lois, I think I also confused your DL weekend, but I'm excited for you and Rhea this weekend. Kids are so fun to have in DL. Enjoy your time, and I hope it's cool temps for you. I know you'll get a lot of walking and moving, especially with a granddaughter to chase. Hope the shoes are super comfortable :)
Well, I'm back to online playdates with my grandsons in Cali, so I'm off to do that. I'll be seeing them October 3 through 5 when we stop off on our way home from Maui. Looking forward to that.

Ok. Wish me luck. We got hit with one of the biggest thunder and rain storms at 2am and it's still drizzling off and on. UGH. I hate to load the car when it's wet out. And the humidity is 81% and going to be 86% at Disneyland. WHOOF…
