I started setting my alarm for 5:30 so I can be used to getting up when I head to Maine this coming Monday. Long drive — 350 miles — and I want to have daylight for setting up camp. Will pack the car the day before and leave before sunrise.

I still use my CPAP when I camp. I used to bring lead-acid marine batteries, but now I use a lithium power supply that recharges with solar panels (as long as there's sun…) The old batteries lasted one night each and together weighed 170 lbs. The lithium one weighs around 20 and lasts 3 nights at least. I have a smaller extra one, in case. And you can drive right up to this campsite, so it's not like the load-the-canoe-and-paddle-5-miles-to camp trips I used to do.

Managing the CPAP when the night air is cool can be tricky. Condensation in the hose is prevented by a heated hose, but that drains battery power, so I use an insulated hose cover, but the mask develops condensation and starts whistling, which wakes me up…

Another day of fog and drizzle. Time for me coffee…

    Mornin' gents.

This is the most recent study on gabapentin and dementia. Somewhat concerning. I know when I was seeing a pain management specialist, she was trying to get me off it but she didn't say why.

    https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/40639955/

Dog training in the rain today. Rheumatologist appointment this afternoon. Routine.

Bob, I tried thc gummies as a sleep aid when I was having real trouble after coming off the pain meds post op knee replacement. Got really high (almost fell on my way to the bathroom in the middle of the night and thought it was really funny), but did not really sleep better and did not notice any improvement in chronic pain. Funny how differently we react to different therapies.

I honestly feel like meditation and breathing exercises helped me the most with my sleep. There was also a lag phase from when I discontinued my Skyrizi injection prior to surgery and Ortho Doc's permission to restart a month post op.

    Onward and downward ;-)

    Good morning!

My shoulder is doing a little better, but I have zero energy. I had been doing well with my walking/running, and now I don't care if I exercise or not. That is not good. I don't want to over do it, but right now, I don't have the energy to do much at all. I'm barely even doing any around the house stuff. Part of it is "that time of year" when my depression worsens. "That time of year" starts with Stephanie's birthday on September 8, and ends with Jacob's birthday on October 24, which is two weeks after the crash date. My brother also passed on September 29. I'm hoping that this bit of a rise is depression is all that is affecting my will to exercise. I see the chiropractor again tomorrow. I will try to get in some groceries at Walmart later this morning.

Mike, it sounds like you are going to have a great time with your camping. I think you are getting it in before it gets really cold too.

    Have a great day!

    Good Morning,

Charlotte still in hospital, gained 4 tenths of ounce yesterday, still not eating on her own.

DW is down to only 22 more radiation treatments.

Need to check in on DMIL today.

Starting to look for new mattress and frame, ours is 15 years old; any suggestions, place we purchased current mattress from is now a gasser shop.

    Good morning gentlemen.

"I feel better, but still a bit stopped up and have a residual cough." Those words from yesterday still, sadly, apply. Just can't shake this stuff.

Didn't make it to the shop yesterday. Maybe today. I also want to try taking Sassy for a walk. I'll hold my pace down and not go too far, but I feel sorry for her. She hasn't been out of the yard in a week.

We have been sleeping on our mattress for 36 years. It still looks and feels like it did when it was new. It's old enough that it is double sided. Have flipped and rotated it regularly. I doubt we will ever replace it.

    Good Morning

I too am still dragging with this cold but slowly improving. Lots of rest breaks during the day and Tylenol Severe Flu tabs. This morning I head to a local class on fall pruning at the nursery then home to rest and try and beat this thing. I will probably mask up for class. Stomach is settling down but still no coffee for now. Its a hard knock life.

Oh my goodness Mike a lot of stuff to do with the CPAP and camping. I can't even imagine let alone considering backpacking adventures or whatever.

Gosh all you coughing sickies get better!!!! Hoping for much improvement and more energy for all of you!!.

Prayers for Charlotte and glad she is gaining weight albeit a pinch at a time.

Hanging in there "knocks on wood"
