Just saying hi
Hi there,
Just getting started and feeling ready for a real change. I’ve been putting in the effort with workouts, but honestly, I’m not seeing the results I hoped for — and I know it comes down to my diet.
I’m tired of not feeling my best in my body, so it’s time to shift things and really commit. Thought I’d say hello and share that I’m looking forward to this next chapter.
Here’s to doing things differently.

welcome to MFP.
I’m a bit confused. You’ve “just started” but are disappointed you haven’t yet seen results.
Our Quick Fix culture deems that we should see results, well, quick. We literally have people posting here that they’ve been using MFP for a day or two and haven’t seen any loss.
That’s unrealistic. It took me months, going from totally sedentary to highly active, to see muscle. You’re expecting a lot if you want to see them in days or weeks.
As far as weight loss, it’s going to take 6-8 weeks to see genuine, consistent loss. It will take your body that long just to acclimatize to all the changes you’re throwing at it. People see a rapid water weight loss the first few days and think “oh that’s what it should be like from now on!” and lose their minds when their weight goes up and down, up and down.
Get a good scale. Weigh carefully and log honestly. If you’re not seeing loss by 6-8 weeks, reevaluate your calorie goal.
Don’t try to lose extra fast. Those are the folks that end up binging and quitting. Set a reasonable weekly rate of loss that still leaves you enough calories for satisfying meals and snacks.
Look at what you’re eating. Instead of those two chips ahoy, you could have an apple, celery, and a serving of hummus. Tasty, and takes much longer to eat.
I know from experience from being an obese, sedentary snack-monster. I can down a whole sleeve or even package of chips ahoy without even realizing it. Get mindful of what goes in your mouth.
