Stymied For the First Time Logging

I’ve never not been able to find an entry before, but this one has me flummoxed.

4-pound roasting chicken. Very few entries and they are all over the place. Tried “raw”, “uncooked” and “USDA”.

Finally entered as 18 ounces of white meat at 16 of thigh (dark) meat, for a total of 34 edible ounces, with the rest being bone.

Reasonable?

I guess I’m going to have to weigh it after I carve it?

I never buy or log dark meat. I’m very surprised. I thought it was much higher calorie but the difference seems negligible.

I’m spoiled. Chicken is our #1 ag product here, so boneless skinless is trifling compared to the cost of beef. Grateful for it, though.

Weigh the cooked portion you eat (weigh what you put on your plate, and after you're done, subtract the weight of anything that remains — whether it's bones, skin, meat, tendons, whatever).

Then search using this format, depending on what you actually ate, to get the USDA entry imported by MFP staff:

Chicken, roasting, [meat] or [light meat] or [dark meat], [meat only] or [meat and skin], cooked, roasted

    thanks @lynn_glenmont

I tried roasting it in my new air fryer, but apparently I overcrowded it (although it looked the same as the user guide photos 🤬) and it came out a mess.

Vegetables shrunk and dehydrated, bird unevenly cooked.

i just angrily threw in the towel, picked a few pieces off and winged it.
