Have a groovy Halloween!

@pridesabtch - you look amazing. Glad you had a fun night out.
JFT Friday
I had the day off as a flex day. I got SO much done . A bunch of those nagging little chores, like good will , continued office clean up and made good headway but more to do, Picked up dog and cat food , health food store for vitamin, Found a set of small organizer drawers for some bathroom stuff and got a workout in. I had great energy all day so I think the Glutathione injections are helping (but giving myself IM shots is no fun)
All my labs came back negative so no evidence of any major health issues that can explain my GI pain but luckily that has gotten drastically better in the last three days. I am finally able to eat more normally again and have gotten two solid workouts in this week.
I ended my day with a delivery of a beautiful flower arrangement from my parents and sister. Tomorrow is my 50th birthday. OOPH. Can hardly believe I am that age.. but I feel good and I have come a long ways from a year and half ago healthwise so I am feeling proud and grateful for that.
JFT Sat
Going to be rainy today
More House organization stuff, dump run, put planters and some remaining outside furniture away, make a pumpkin caramel cake. Listen to good music and jam out while doing house chores. Put a few fall decorations out. Dinner out with friends tonight.

@HappyDonkey75 HaPpY BiRtHdAy to you! Hope it's a fabulous day!
@pridesabtch Love the costumes, you both look great!
Recap 10/31 F ~ Typical fall day. Temps down to mid 30s overnight & low 50s in daytime. Perfect for walking doggo & getting yard work done.
- Take month end measurements & log 😀 ever so slowly, seeing improvement
- Walked dog 4.02 miles 😁 I really pushed mileage in Oct (80) and only 120.565 miles to complete annual distance challenge… barring terrible winter weather early, totally doable in Nov-Dec so happy me & happy dog / OT exercises 😀 3x
- Figure out supper ~ not the healthiest but easy & hubby likes, mac & cheese with spam & peas / healthy snacks ~ lots of white cheddar Cheezits, too addictive, logged my best guess / limit sweets ~ 3 Hershey minis / log all food / 80 oz water ~ 64 / net calories zero 😁 I think so
- Review docs from tax advisor & contact w/ questions / refill bird feeders / bring in rain water jugs whenever in back yard & take to basement / read / digital declutter / 4:30 Jeopardy (pre-game crap later) / 7:00 World Series / other? 😁 ta-da!
- City's trick or treat hours 4:00 - 7:00 ~ hubby and I are skipping handing out candy for 2nd year; we know the little kids on our street but don't know most of the kids/parents that show up (where do they come from?!?) and we don't want all the candy in the house, plus the door bell ringing/costumes drives doggo nuts & Kitty into hiding… we will keep outside lights by front door off & hide out upstairs in back bedroom, watching something together 😁 Only once did someone, late in the designated hours, ring the door bell repeatedly, at our darkened house. Dog was napping upstairs in room where we were watching Dark Shadows (the movie), and she ran downstairs to bark out the window at last of the costumed kids. Successful evening haha.
JFT 11/1 Sat. ~ Sunny early, now overcast. Breezy & cool but decent day. First Sat. in over 5 months I slept in, with farmers markets ended last week.
- Walked dog 3.74 mi with treats, water & pets by the bachelor brothers & visit with their neighbor Cookie & her mom 😁 happy dog & happy me / OT exercises
- Make cream of leek soup for supper / healthy snacks / limit sweets / 80 oz water / log all food / net calories zero
- Bring rain water jugs inside & down in basement whenever I go out patio door (usually w/ doggo) / finance tasks / review neighbor's house sale info online / read / digital declutter / move manual clocks back before bedtime / other?
WOTY 2025: Judicious ~ I just like the way the word sounds, and the meaning is right for me: having or showing reason and good judgement in making decisions. I can apply this word in so many ways!

Weekend was draining. I started my spin class back up and man am I out of shape. I've also been struggling more with depression lately. I slept almost all day Saturday after class, and all evening Sunday. The bipolar disorder tends to really cling on to seasonal depression. It's one reason I picked the cycling class back up. Exercise helps.
Sunday was a bit of a cluster. FIL called at 5:19am to tell us he nicked himself shaving the other day and had been bleeding for over 24 hours. We decided it was not worthy of an emergency room visit, but that we would take him to Urgent Care as soon as they opened. The blood was a drip not a gush. After the early call, neither of us could get back to sleep. Took him to doc at 8:00. He got 2 drops of medical super glue on the nick and all was well.
Showed mom's house after that. The guy wants to buy it to rent it out, but I don't really care why as long as it sells. I do fear he will low ball the offer though. After he left we went to breakfast & Walmart, then worked on clearing the rest of the stuff out of the basement. Apparently my mom kept every thing I ever made her. So even though she was not an outwardly loving person and very harsh in her expectations, in her own way she cared. I also found letters from my real dad. That opened a surge of emotions, mostly negative. I've still never met him and am not sure he's even still alive. I did speak with him on the phone a few times and he seemed nice, but I wasn't ready for a relationship in my 20's. The whole thing made me physically ill. After I got sick, Tim said we had probably done enough for one day, physically and emotionally. Before we left the neighbors were already picking through the discarded items. Again I don't much care, I just want it gone.
Today's kick in the teeth was getting my biometric screening back. LDL Cholesterol and triglycerides are still high, HDL and LDL/HDL ration are ok, but my weight/BMI are ridiculous. I knew that, but seeing it in writing is tough.

JFT'ers here we are another Monday.
The weekend was pretty good overall . The scale had a little jump up this morning but it was to be expected. I turned the big 5-0 (ugh , how did this happen so quickly????) so dinner out with Friends Sat night which included 2 glasses of wine and dessert, then Sunday also we opted to do take out, which was full of salt and likely MSG (Thai food). Took a water pill this morning and drinking alot of water and tea today, as well as getting a few short 15 minutes sessions on my under desk walking pad through out the day in between work meetings/tasks. So far so good on meeting those goals today. I will do a real workout in the shop gym tonight after work.
Other JFT Monday
- Hubby is home today so he is doing gutters and cleaning the chimney and a few other outdoor Winter prep chores.
- Chicken tonight for dinner with salad or maybe frozen broccoli for me, potatoes for hubby
- Call in scripts
- Meet the guy that's buying some FB marketplace items we had listed
- Call vet for Saturday for dental on one horses and xray for the other. (yes one is the same one I have been doctoring on since sept) Sigh🙄 Finished antibiotics and steroids but joint is still swollen so the issue still isn't resolved. Only thing left to do is xrays at this point. Probably should have done them last time but we thought cellulitis was the answer.
- Killed a black widow spider the other day in the house (it was an epic battle too, she didn't die easily) and so need to go get some spider traps for the house and crawl space. Add that to the chore list
- Finally enrolled in the course to get my insurance producer license. Goal is to study for 2 hrs a day or 10 hours a week. I think total estimated course time is roughly 25-28 hrs of getting through the sections , but then add in time to review, take practice exams, study, notes, etc. It feels overwhelming . I am a terrible test taker and don't love studying. I should have done it a year ago, actually I should have done it several years ago to be honest. Oh well, I guess what matters is I have finally taken the step now. #crackthebooks
Hope everyone is having a productive Monday
2 -
@HappyDonkey75 Ack! A black widow spider. I can't even imagine. I would be so freaked out. I hate dealing with mice in our shed & garage LOL. Good luck with #crackthebooks. Reminds of when I finally got serious (after 2 failed attempts) about taking the CPA exam (back in the days of in-person 2 1/2 day paper exams with hundreds of other people). 7 or 8 years after I'd finished college. It was an entire summer & fall spent traveling to an 8 hour in-person review course every Sat. with 2 hours drive and back, plus studying & homework every night after work. The joy. But that course, and the discipline it forced in me, got me to pass all four exam parts in that final sitting. Hallelujah! The partying every night with my then co-worker now good friend/tax preparer lasted for a solid week when we both got our passing results.
Recap 11/2 Sunday ~ Wicked winds blowing & wind chill is cold!

- Choir rehearsal 6:30
Posting early for tomorrow. Hubby and I are joining other family at my parents' house for Dad's 91st birthday. Will be sedentary with drive & visiting, plus food calorific, but that's ok for the day. I'm not taking the time to cram in a dog walk = sad dog. JFtomorrow 11/4 T:

Good morning JFT friends!
@more_freggies76 I am so very sorry for the loss of your fur baby. Just thinking about it with my Maddie fills my eyes with tears. 🫂 I’m also sorry to hear about your friend with the spine tumor. Im sending gentle hugs to you and I hope you can feel them.
@HappyDonkey75 I hope you’re feeling better! Glad your CT scan and labs came back clear. Good luck with your studies. I remember studying for certification exams for Epic EMR when I was working….so stressful!
@pridesabtch cute Halloween costume! You looked adorable. I stopped and paused when I read your mom kept everything you ever made her…I have saved everything my kids and grandkids have made and I often wonder if I should throw it out or keep it because I don’t know that my kids will want to look at it all someday or if they’ll be irritated that I kept all that stuff for them to throw out as “junk”. Your journey with your mom is hitting home with me on so many levels because I will have same coming with my mother (she lives 8 blocks from me). 🫂
@cschmitz110515 How about that Packer game? Ugh. 😖

Really, thank you all for your kind words and sympathy about my dog and my friend. 😘 One nice thing that I get to do today though is take all the special diet food for my dog that I had stocked up on to a local rescue. They said they wanted it! (I wasn't sure since it's C/D diet.) I have two large unopened bags and 3 cases of cans! Curie would be so happy that it won't go to waste.

@PackerFanInGB It was good to see that she kept things, but I did get rid of most of it. I kept the faded paper chain I made in preschool that always hung on our tree. It's a sad looking thing, but it was one of my few happy memories of Christmas that didn't revolve around being at my grandmother's.

Yesterday was ok. Work was work. I ran an errand before going to see mom. Mom was really disoriented last night, and it's is very trying to not lose my temper with her. Tim thinks part of it is she's just playing me. Example: She didn't know how or where to pour out a cup of water into the sink and throw the plastic cup away in the trash can. I'm giving her the benefit of the doubt, but at the same time it is a classic move for her "you don't think I can do anything, so I won't". I go with it, either she is that bad, or she is trying to get a rise out of me. My aunt says mom lashes out at her, but I've not experienced that. Different games for different folks.
After that I really wanted to crash, but hubby wanted to play music bingo. He really enjoys the music aspect. I could take it or leave it. After that we went home and I fell asleep on the couch with in about 15 minutes.
Our alarm went off at 6:00am, but we usually snooze it for 10 minutes. I guess this morning he didn't hit snooze so I woke up at 6:25. I lead a meeting at work at 7:00 so that's not good. I literally got ready in 9 minutes. Made it to work in time and had my meeting. It's a good thing I only live 3.5 miles from work and there is never any traffic.
Tonight is pub trivia. I really don't want to go, but Kim is expecting me, and she needs a friend to chat with.

Hubby and I had a great time with my family at my parents' house for Dad's 91st birthday yesterday. Besides parents, saw sister/hubby, eldest (bachelor) brother, middle brother/wife, 1 niece & her almost 2 yo son. A few phone calls from family & friends interspersed, including Mom's sister in Oz. The only downside was driving 3 hours round trip, with mega construction zones where the highway is being widened from 2 lanes to 3 each way. This is a multi-year project and will be great when done, but oh my the stress from drivers who don't slow down, and narrowed lanes, sometimes moved over.
JFT W 11/5 ~ Very gusty winds but sunny. Temps above normal so that's a win this time of year.
- Walked dog 4.05 mi, only 110 miles to reach end of annual distance challenge, I can sense the finish line 😁happy dog & happy me / OT exercises
- Tuna sandwich & last of leek soup for lunch / dinner unknown, eat sensible / healthy snacks / limit sweets / 64 oz water / log food best guess / net calories zero

Yesterday was about 50/50. Enjoyed my walk with the dog, he needs more leash time. He used to walk much better on the lead. He's still ok unless he's super excited or scared. He doesn't like walking through the garage, because our cat lives there and he's afraid of her. She is 17 years old and weighs about 6 pounds. He is 1 and weighs 85 pounds. Went to trivia, had 2 beers instead of one, but that's better than 3. We won at trivia which is always fun.
Today is work, then to meet a friend to give her 2 heated cat pads for her feral colony. I have 4 that I found at mom's, I'm giving the other 2 to Sierra's BF's mom for her outside kitties. My cat has her own heater in the garage. I need to clean the garage this weekend so I can set up her warm cozy corner.
Not sure what I'll do this evening. Maybe play pool, maybe go to dinner.
