Thanks for the suggestion, do you think pilates would have the same effect?

HI! I've heard that Pilates is better! I had a yoga studio very close by though so I started there. They did offer yoga-lates…a hybrid of the two...but I found it only to be a nice change. There were a variety of classes such as Hatha, Yin, Power and Hot. I started with Hatha and Yin and as I got fitter, I was able to transition to Power and Hot. In addition, I started walking 20 to 30 minutes 5x a week and began changing my eating habits. I never really counted calories, just began paying attention to how I felt after eating food…the yoga helped me become more mindful. Its meditative so you begin to become subtly more aware of how food affects you, how you stand, the space around you. It became a bit painful if I wasn't walking shoulders back for example…or I'd feel sick if I ate cold cereal for breakfast....I haven't eaten it in YEARS!

After a year or so I found Yoga With Adriene on You Tube and never looked back! I do her 30 day challenges....she releases one every January 1st since 2015...and I have completed 5 twice each. 😊 I just do the best I can and complete the 30 days in 6 to 12 weeks. My favourite time to practice is the Fall...especially when it's raining. It's such a comforting exercise ☺️.

I've never met a heavy Yoga Instructor so that inspires me to continue. I remember a friend who thought yoga was "just stretching" tried it once and she complained because she was very sore. She was also quite heavy...250 pounds. Honestly, I didn't say anything but I was thinking..."If Yoga is "just stretching", then Obesity wouldn't exist. If literally everyone did yoga..but decide not to because it's just stretching...do they really think running or intense gym workouts must be better? 😐 " Start with movement..... "stretching", yoga, walking....as your body adapts to movement and improves then continue to progress! As we do in life!

Unless you can share a verified story of a baby who, shortly after taking its first three steps, miraculously entered and won a Marathon! 🤣
