Calling all October Shredders. Today is all about the booty!!!
Your mini challenge for the day is……SQUATS!!!!
Squats are the most effective exercise you can do to tone your legs and butt. The squat is an exercise that most people can do and may be modified to fit your individual fitness level. Squats may be done with or without weights.
Let's try for 50 SQUATS!
Pick a level that you are comfortable with.
Level 1 = against a wall (you can use an exercise ball to slide down wall)
Level 2 = air squat
Level 3 = with weights (with or without the exercise ball)
You can break them up throughout the day with small sets or you can do them all at once.
Instructions:
Stand with your feet shoulder width apart. Choose weights that will challenge you, but are not too heavy.
Keep your feet planted firmly on the floor, with your back straight and head facing forward.
Slowly lower your body, while bending your legs. Be sure not to lean forward. Don't allow your knees to extend over your toes. Keep squatting until you are in a seated position.
After you have performed a full squat, begin to lift your body and come to your starting position again.

Seriously - after lunges, my most hated exercise is SQUATS !!! Gee, thanks ML !! :laugh:
And I am going to have to do them all at once, since I dont think my boss would understand me just standing up in the middle of a meeting and being like : "oh, dont mind me, continue on while I throw in a few squats.... Yes, I think (squat down) that graphic represention (squat up) is accurate."

yes a mini challenge! I am sooo excited! I ate so bad over the weekend and feel oh sooo bloated, so the more exercises the better
I just did 2 rounds of level 1 but I am still one day behind
i will try to catch up tonight so I can start Level 2 with everyone

I was already participating in the 100 squat challenge until Christmas so this is right up my alley! I actually enjoy squats. I guess, in all fairness, I should do 150 to make sure both challenges don't get cheated....

Just to prove how out of shape I am.. I didn't think 50 would be that bad..I got to 28.. I will come back when my legs stop shaking so I can do the remaining. My form was getting off..I did them while holding the ball.0

Great job everyone! We do a ton of these with weights in Body Pump. It's a great exercise for your legs and butt. We should all be feeling these tomorrow.
