Radio Silence vs. OMGDON'TBEDUMBYOU'REGONNADIE!

How come when I over-eat no one says a word? If I over-eat by THOUSANDS of calories (which happens on the rare occasion I go out to eat), I get a wave of encouraging, "Hey, you needed it! You work hard! You deserve it!"

But the second I decide to skip dinner (even rarer - has happened maybe twice all year) it's a big effing "OMG! You need to be eating 1200 calorieeeees!!! Why are you trying to be anorexiccc?!?!?!?!"-fest?

Guess what? I'm skipping dinner again. Second night in a row. That's a 257-calorie deficit today and a net of a measly 943 calories. Trust me, I'm not going to die.

Get real. I'm about 40 lbs. overweight and in no danger of anorexia for one or two skipped meals. Not everyone is on a slippery slope to an eating disorder around here. Some of us actually have a goal of being HEALTHY. Not just losing weight.

Just griping. Feel free to gripe with me. Or at me. Or about something totally unrelated. I don't care. It's the internet.

There's a fugitive runnin around my town with a hockey bag full of guns.

I made a post about it earlier.

    He's 5'3" and 130lbs or so.

I can see why he's so angry.

I sometimes don't get a chance to eat breakfast depending on if my 7 month old will allow me to or not.Missing one meal or two at that is no biggie.I think it may be ok at times cause it could keep your metabolism guessing. My mom used to make me feel bad if I ate too much, but if I didn't want to eat anything she wouldn't try and pile food on my plate, thats a whole other issue though!

If there were something that I could say to really show how much I care I would figure it out... but I do like you and hope that we don't die even though we might some day unless we are like Enoch in the bible, I heard that he didn't die but it may have been a conspiracy, I am not quite sure. It's only Tuesday... I wish it were the weekend already. Thanks for being so cool?

I've never had any of my friends comment negatively on my diary before but skipping a meal every now and and again or going below your calories isn't going to put you in STARVATION MODE (oh dear God). I think people that are normally thin and not counting calories probably eat less on some days and more on others.

As long as you are eating healthy most of the time, missing a meal every once in a while isn't going to kill you, at least not if your overweight or at a normal weight.

Bingo. I eat breakfast maybe once every couple of months, and no one has ever said a thing. If I skip dinner, which I do very, very rarely because it's my favourite meal, the world collapses around me and I have people from all over acting like I've killed a puppy. :|

I haven't had that issue yet on here with any of the friends I have added, I'd hope most people would be supportive regardless of what you do though :)

I was thinking the same thing the other day.
My friends do this to me all the time.
Once I was eating like a madwoman, and no one said anything( except one girl said I'm probably bulimic, which I'm not FYI) but when I say I'm not hungry I get the accusation of being anorexic.
Anyways, I don't know why they do this. If you have any theories let me know :grumble:

Alright...I think I figured it out...You may think about de-friending some of your friends (lol...no me though).

This site is for each of us to achieve the goals that we have set for ourselves. If our goals are being met and we are doing something that may be considered unorthodoxed...then who the F*$% cares!!! Friends are to support or give a little nudge of a hard time time when needed. Everyone needs to remember that it is about the individual and their goals...what works for them may or may not work for you.

I pay attention to what my friends' comments are, so I can figure out if they are allowed to stick around or not. Not that I have many friends...quality, to me, counts.

If it is in a public forum like this, then the information is public and people will say as they wish.

    Done rambling. TK

What's the big deal? You even said in your diary that you weren't up for dinner. Isn't one of the rules of healthy eating not to eat if you're not hungry? I'm sure I could stand to skip a meal myself!

It's probably just people trying to help you.
No reason to get defensive over it. There's knowledgeable people around here (well a few), and they know that you shouldn't be skipping meals or only eating 900 cals a day.
You can try to do things "your way" but it's going to backfire in the end.
Why not do it a way that works, especially when that way involves you getting to enjoy dinner.
