Do you eat your "cheat" calories after exercise?

Hi,

So I started a regular running program with MFP and am wondering if you actually eat the "cheat" calories it gives you for exercising. Sometimes I eat the entire amount but recently I have been avoiding to do so because it seems as if I'm eating a TON compared to those days I don't exercise. I'm averaging about 700 calories per workout so that a huge amount of food!

Thanks,
Kevin

Ridiculous amount of debates on this. Just do a search for exercise calories.

I do not!!! I can hardly eat the amount they want me to. I keep getting the warning you aren't eating enough you will go into starvation mode. But I am not going to eat if I am not hungry! Good luck!

I will eat some of them back, but not nearly all of them. I usually have an after workout snack which is about 100-200 cals. and high in protein.

However, it is nice for enjoying a nice dinner out every once in a while!

oh hell yes I eat them back-but healthy foods...feed your body. Everyone is different, but I lost my weight by eating them back.

Hey Kevin. They aren't "cheat" calories as MFP already works in a deficit in calorie if you set your goals to lose weight. Totally understand about hitting that amount, but depending on when you are working out, you can plan your day accordingly. I work out in the mornings now so it's easier to plan getting all my calories back - but if you do so in the afternoon you can start estimating the amount that you will probably burn and eat accordingly throughout the day. On top of that, 700 is not as bad as you think - try eating calorie-dense foods like nuts.
