Workout Routine question...

I want to start jogging more, but I don’t want to give up my classes at the gym. I also don’t have the time to jog AND do the classes at the gym. I work Mon-Fri 8-5. My classes at the gym start at 6:30 and I have kids who need attention & to be fed. So I’ve decided to replace jogging with some of my pump classes. ( I just can’t give up Body Combat!)
Monday : pump
Tuesday : combat
Wednesday: pump
Thursday: combat
Friday: I don’t usually work out this day.
Saturday: pump
Sunday: pump
So should I just take my Friday, Saturday & Sunday and jog those days?? And keep my Mon- Thursday? Or should I spread them out through out the week?? What would be better.. or does it not matter??
Also as far as Body Pump goes.. is it better to go heavy or not? I want to tone up and lose weight.. what's best?
Any help is appreiciated.. :flowerforyou:

go heavy with the weights at body pump and I wouldn't do body pump (or any resistance training) 3 days in a row as your schedule currently suggests. so, you could replace at least sunday with running. I also wouldn't give up 1 off day each week. rest and recovery days are important for your body.
NOTE: I do not know what body combat classes involve. if they also involve resistance training, then you have too many resistance training days going on.0 -
Agreed! At first glance I'd say you're working out too much. 5 days a week is plenty, and depending on intensity levels 4 or even 3 is enough. I would suggest you make your sessions as intense as possible, and give yourself at least 2 days a week to recover.
Personally I see no point in jogging unless you really love running and are training for a race. Otherwise, I think it's pretty useless. That's my opinion.0 -

Body combat is a mix martial arts/kickboxing cardio type class.
And Thank you!0 -

Sometimes I don't feel like I work out enough...
I recently started doing 5k's.. and I really love them. So I want to do more, but I want to improve my time. I jog at a slow pace and I have been getting the same time.. +/- a few seconds... it's more the challenge of beating my old time. My husband and I signed on for a 10K in 2 weeks. I know 2 weeks is not enough time to train for a 10K, but I'm going to use the time i get as a starting point for future 10k's.

If you really want to improve your times, take a look at some HIIT (high intensity interval training) routines. They take less time than standard (steady state) cardio, and provide a bigger cardiovascular benefit. They also are great for losing fat, which most of us want to do.0
