So I tried some Yoga stretches and a brief Yoga aerobic-type workout because my lower back felt weird after my last run.... seems to have worked, my lower back feels pretty damn good already...
... I'm deciding if I should do Yoga workouts regularly though - I'm a guy...

If it works, why not try it again? I do yoga 1-2 times weekly, but mainly for restorative/relaxation purposes. But there are always plenty of males in the classes

Dont worry its not gender specific.
no seriously though, if i've worked out i tend to do a couple of repetitions of a sun salutation i learnt and i find this works much better for stretching out my muscles than the regular stretches.
I do always wonder why men feel weird about yoga, my husband is the same but the benefits of yoga are so vast that i just wish he'd try it - especially as he suffers a lot of stress and also a lot of inflexibility, after all its just another form of exercise.0 -
guys do yoga too. ur lucky to be a guy and do yoga u can take off ur shirt if you're feeling too hot while we gals can't.0

there are guys in my yoga class! i live in pittsburgh, and some university sports teams send their players to this class to work on flexibility

I teach yoga. You'd be surprised at how many men do it. Troy Polomalu does yoga.
So do tons of olympic athletes, Adam Levine from Maroon 5 and many more. If it helps why not do it? 0 -
There are a few guys in my yoga class. I think yoga is for everyone. It is a great core workout, and since I've been doing it, my arms and shoulders have seriously toned up. I'm not sure what the guys' goals/reasons are for doing yoga, but they seem to really enjoy it, and look great.

If it's for your back pain, I wouldn't use it as a workout. Find a teacher that has many years of experience and go to that class once a week. Keep in mind, every type of yoga is different, has different teacher requirements, etc. Some yoga teachers have taken a weekend class in group exercise, some have spent 20 years in training.
If you want to use it to balance your routine, then any class should be fine.0 -

Part of the reason guys feel weird about yoga is the fact that it is mostly advertised toward the female population. It is rare for me to see anything yoga related targeted towards men.
I got a yoga dvd to see what it was like and to help improve my flexibility. I haven't used it much, but it is helping improve my flexibility. I think it is a dvd by Rodney Yee(?)0 -
Personally, I like to have all the women in class to myself. So even if you feel great and there are great benefits, you should stay away. :-)0
