I tend to eat alot at night; mostly just snacky food but always something that is not good for me. Does anyone have some tips on how to curb my cravings at night time?

Thanks!

I have the same problem! I always get "hungry" about an hour before I should be going to bed, and cheese and crackers always hit the spot. I toughed it through the urge last night but have decided to try hot tea tonight when it hits again. Perhaps a small spoon of almond butter will help too. Good Luck!

It's my weakness too, when winding down at night. It especially hits when I didn't seem to have enough protein at dinner so I always make sure I do that and it also hits when I've had a stressful day. For that, I use other distractions such as light yoga, stretching, hot bath, reading in bed, etc. Don't wind down in front of the TV, near the fridge! I drink tea/water and if I'm feeling ravenous, hot skim milk to calm the stomach and help fall asleep.

For me, I usually have a fresh fruit or a container of lowfat yogurt. It's light in calories, but usually quiets my craving for sweets. If it's salty you're wanting, maybe some pretzels or some veggie sticks with light ranch.

Before you eat at night, do this: ask yourself if you'd be willing to eat a small apple or handful of baby carrots (or anything in general you'd eat if you were hungry, but not for pleasure). If those don't sound appealing to you, it means you are not hungry and you should brush your teeth to have that minty taste in your mouth that makes eating less appealing.

Hope it helps! These little tips work for me most of the time!
