Hello-
I joined myfitnesspal about two and a half months ago to lose about 90 pounds. I have now decided that I am going to try to do a 5K in July. Thankfully I have a family member who is a runner and can help train me, but I am wondering if anyone has any experience doing a Couch to 5K. I'd love any pointers or tips you have as I'll need all the help I can get! The only reason I believe I can do this is because if the contestants on the Biggest Loser can to a marathon, I can certainly handle a 5K!
Would love some new friends!

I did this work out plan a couple years ago, and it really helped me to run a lot further at one time... here is the website. http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml
I think I am going to start doing it again because I need something different for my treadmill time... I get bored.
Best of Luck to you on your 5K Journey!!! You Can Do It!!!!!! :flowerforyou:0 -
i did a couch to 5k program through fleet feet, i think the ymca also has programs, its wonderful to be with a group of people who share the same goal as you. There is accountability since there is a prize at the end, Fleet feet gives you a very nice jacket for completing the program and there is a 5k goal run at the end of the program. Its all a mental thing, i used to not be able to run a block and i was able to complete a 15k after a year of running 5k's. Now i know when i grab my tennis shoes and take off i dont have to force myself to keep running, i just do it. One thing i have to remind myself, i dont need to go fast, its hard on the knees. Good luck, once you complete the program, its the nicest feeling of accomplishment.0

Thanks so much for the info! I'll check it all out! I'm just starting out and have plenty of time, so I'm taking it slow.0

Hi there, I did couch to 5k last year. I used the app on the ipod and it was brilliant. This website is good too http://www.c25k.com/.
I followed the programme religiously and ran my first 5k race in 33mins five and a half weeks into the programme. I definitely recommend it. It gets you from a couch potato to running 5k in 9 weeks.
Good luck x x0
