I was wondering if anyone knows what the best natural deli meat is? By natural I mean very little added to it other then the meat. I love to eat turkey sammys for lunch and was useing oscar meyer's natural brand but they don't have it at the store I shop at now. What does everyone else use????

I usually buy trader joe's turkey for my hubby but if we shop at walmart or something I buy the hormel minimally processed stuff in the brown cardboard packaging. It seemed like the best option but I just gave up lunch meat when I started eatin g clean, i just deemed even the minimally processed stuff too processed. I love a good veggie sandwich with hummus and TONS of crispy, tasty veggies.

Go to a butcher that prides them selves in not using preservatives at all! It will cost more!! But you will have a greater quality of meat and you will get the most out of it. This is what I do and I do spend quite a bit, for example I spent close to $50 yesterday and it will last me a few days, and I will be back there in a couple of days to buy some more. It is the only way to get high quality A grade meat

All natural deli meat may still contain nitrates (used as a preservative) listed as "Celery Extract". Although a naturally occurring form of nitrates may be better, you should limit the amount of deli meat if you are concerned about them. it might still be a case of clever marketing. If you want the healthiest sandwich meat, cook a beef roast, whole chicken, etc and slice it up at home.
