Having a hard time

This is getting really hard for me. I have alot going on in my life right now, and I thought this would help. Weight is a very sensitive subject for me. I mean, VERY sensitive! From being forced to go on diet pills at 12, to having packing tape wrapped around my belly to show what a "normal" person looks like, My youth days have messed with my head and my self-esteem very bad. My Grandmother was the cause of all of this, and I am trying very hard to overcome it. I eat, I work out, and my weight is going nowhere. I feel like  over and over again. I will not let myself get obsessed with this like so many others have, but I will not let myself give up either. I start to feel good about something that has changed with me, and then other post about themselves and it knocks me down. It seems like in the real world, there is always somebody that has to view me as a competition, and prove themselves better than me.

I have enough stress right now, that this is probably causing me to not lose weight! I did go and buy new pants to workout in since mine were falling off of me, but it still doesn't help. Work, school, finances, life, and having an uninsured driver hit me last week. Wherever this little "black cloud" has come from that is hanging over me, it needs to just get the F away from me!

 I know how you feel...I just went back to school and stress at work and dealing with home life it gets nuts. I took a few days off and now feel ready to go again. I think we all just need to not give up and just keep moving forward. It's hard not to let stress get in the way of our plans...

You've got to realize you are doing this for YOU and no one else. Negative people seem to feel the need to spread misery to everyone. What matters is how you view yourself and if you feel good about what you are accomplishing then no one else can touch you. I pity those people that think they need to bring someone else down to feel good about themselves because it means that they can't look to themselves to be happy.

I too have a lot going on! I'm so sorry that you were made to feel "unnormal" when you were younger due to your weight! Sometimes as parents and grandparents you try so hard thinking what you're doing is the right thing that you don't stop to think about the lasting effects they could have.

I have been on my weight loss journey for a good two years. If you need any extra support of encouragement feel free to add me as a friend!

Good Luck and remember...This too shall pass! :)

I'm sorry that you're having a rough time - we all have hard patches in life. It sounds like you may have some long term, deep emotional issues to deal with as well, therapy may help with this.

As far as competition goes, it's really up to you. People can't "compete" with you if you don't participate. It's not a competition with anyone other than yourself.

Thank you for sharing. Don't give up. If you eat healthy and exercise, you will lose weight. This is something that you are doing for you. Remember that and don't let the doubters and the negativity get to you. It says more about them than it does about you.

The importance of one's weight for any number of reasons other than health has always driven me nuts. I'm not here to lose weight per se, I'm here to get healthy. I have to watch portion size. I want to cut out the processed foods and fast food and just most of the junk. Don't get me wrong, I like the junk. And I'll keep eating it, but I want to get away from it for the most part. I want to exercise and make my body strong. I try to use exercise to deal with stress instead of maybe eating something. It doesn't always work, but I'm a work in progress.

    take care.

First, let me encourage you to talk to someone. Having a sounding-board for emotional issues like this can help immensely!

Next, you need to understand that you were treated badly, and your self-esteem issues were handed to you. You have to decide whether or not to accept them. The choice is yours. (I have had these hand-me-downs; not weight-related, but harsh nonetheless. You CAN reject the burden that another person placed on you, and allow yourself to understand that THEY had the problem, not you.)

As for your weight control plan not getting you anywhere...are you measuring/weighing your food? I found that I counted calories very well, but didn't estimate portion sizes for squat! I was eating way more than I thought I was. Reevaluate your plan, stick to it, and BE PATIENT. Sometimes our bodies don't cooperate right away. We make wrong-turns, get detoured, sometimes even crash! That's why we call it a journey. And you aren't in competition with anyone but yourself. Just try to do a little better today than you did yesterday. We are all at different places, on our way to something better than we were. We didn't all start at the same time, and we sure won't get there at the same time. Your pace is the one that is right for YOU!

Stress is an unavoidable fact of life. Often, there is nothing we can do about the stressors in our lives, other than how we allow ourselves to react to it. So many things upset us that we have no control over. Learn to let it go. Change what you can, accept what you can't. And remember...the best revenge is being HAPPY!
