What is a reasonable (or safe) calorie deficit for a man and woman?

It's not just about calorie intake. Everyone is different. You need a good round ratio of carbs, protein and fat. You have to determine what this is by your activity level. Just go with the flow, try to lose no more than 2 lbs a week and be patient. You're doing great! I upped my calorie intake when I hit a plateau and managed to lose a couple of holiday pounds.0

I prefer slow and steady progress so 1 to 2 lbs a week..... So I try to keep my deficit under 1000 calories a day... but normally around 600 calories most days... That allows me to lose a pound a week....0
