So I am wondering... if I want to make an unhealthy choice like eat a sweet, can I do some extra cardio to make up for the calories? Does it work like that? I don't eat sweets all too often but I do have a sweet tooth! On Valentine's day we had plans to get ice cream and I worked hard for it, is this ok? what are your thoughts?

(also- I am not trying to lose weight- just maintain and build muscle)

I do that everyday. I have a serious ice cream addiction so I make sure that I workout enough to have the calories for it at night. It has worked for me throughout losing 80lbs and now in maintenance. I know that I have to allow myself the treats I want if I am going to maintain this loss for life.

I know the sugars/fat/carbs are not helping my goal of getting abs, but I was hoping I can work it off at the gym

This isn't really true. You will start showing "rockin abs and definition" based solely on the percentage of body fat you have. Get to a low enough percentage and you will see abs. Strength training in either a VERY minor calorie deficit or maintenance will help lower body fat percentage. If you want to eat cake, brownies, chocolate chip cookies, etc. and it fits within your macros/calories GO FOR IT! If you want to eat a slice of cheesecake- burn some extra calories and go for it

Yes. I eat plenty of cake, ice cream, ice cream cake and other sweets. I believe in moderation.
