Who here detests grammar mistakes?

Would you say anything to the person making the mistake and why?

For me, I feel its people's own personal preference to how they write. And honestly, there are things that I have seen people do that I don't care for, but I feel as though to say something is to offend and therefore I tread carefully and zip my lip unless asked if their grammar is okay.

I'll make the occasional mistake, but I definitely am peeved by those minor, repetitive mistakes people often make. They're simple mistakes, such as you're, your, their, there, they're, etc, but they bother me nonetheless.

I usually don't say anything unless asked to, let's say, critique a peer's writing, etc,. I may make the ever-so-rare FB status complaining about grammar mistakes, but could you really blame me? 0 :- )

Nope don't blame you in the least.....at least you are nice about it and don't say much about it and if you do, you generalize! I feel that there is a certain way of saying something like that to someone else. People will get offensive about it, but some won't but the thing to remember is that you don't know who will and wont.

For me, I don't get offended by it, but I will say my peace in response but I will be respectful and nice about it. Those easily offended by responses, and of course I myself can be direct at times when not meaning to be, should take it into consideration before sayings something.

On one hand, spelling and grammar mistakes really, really frustrate me. If it's clear it isn't just a typo, it can wind me up because I've been able to spell and use grammar correctly since I was in primary school. I find it amazing that so many people simply can't grasp basic English.

That being said, I'm a writer. From a business point of view I'm able to get over my shock and disgust by telling myself it's alright, because when these people need something to be written properly I might be the one they pay to do it.

I wouldn't usually comment, but if it's a friend and I know they can take it I'll respond to the question they're not asking, if they use the wrong form of 'your' for instance.

I have much more important things to worry about. I look at the content and leave it at that.

Now, if I go back and see I made a grammar mistake, I panic. Try to rush back and fix it before anyone can quote me.

Let's all say the Serenity Prayer:
God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference.
