I've been doing Turbofire since the beginning of this year and have lost 10 pounds. I have now reached my goal weight of 118lbs but would like to see more muscle tone. I am wondering if I should continue on with the Turbofire (I will be starting week 12 ) and finish the 20 week cycle or if I should switch over to the hybrid schedule that uses Chalean Extreme as, to my understanding, that involves more strength training as opposed to more cardio. Thoughts?

If you have some muscles the only way to "tone up" is to shed some BF. I weight lift and do cardio. My goal is to maintain my muscle size and "tone".

Sorry, I don't follow the trendy stuff. I don't know all the different names of programs and stuff. I just exercise. I'm like an old man I guess!?

I would consider lifting heavier and eating more lean protein (within maintenance calorie number).

    This

More specifically....do weights 1st then the HIITs that came with the program. Only 3 days a week HIIT and Weights 3-5.

Add me for more specific info.

ChaLean Extreme does focus on weight training. She wants you to lift heavy enough to reach failure between your 10th and 12th rep so it's not one of those mega reps/light weights programs. If you have trouble getting yourself to lift on your own this program is a way to get going.

However, you can do it on your own using the books mentioned above or there are online sites where you can get info.

To answer your question about whether or not you should start lifting: I absolutely would. Years ago, I was in really good shape endurance wise. I started lifting heavy and loved what it did for me. That was the best I've ever looked and felt. Lifting heavy really does something for you mentally that cardio alone doesn't. It was a great feeling of accomplishment to work my way up in weights.

I am thinking the weight training is important not only for the muscle I'd like to build but also because of my age (late 30's). I have doing some light lifting (using Jari Love's video's) but it is low weight with high reps. I know I need to tweak my diet as well. My downfall is sugar. I am getting better at not eating so much of it and have cut down a lot on how much cola I consume but I could do better still. I want to find my abs! :D
