Hi!

I've been tracking for a few weeks now, most days doing well, some days not so much. Would love to find some friends for some mutual motivation! I'm 41, need to lose about 30 lbs, and finally got myself back on track earlier this month. I've lost about 5-6 lbs so far.

I need a motivation buddy too. I am 40 and need to lose about 35-40 lbs. I am a chronic yo-yo dieter. I normally lose 20 lbs and gain it back every year for the last 10 years. My closet contains sizes 12-16 (got rid of the 18) . In the past I have always picked low carb diets. This time, I am trying to eat real foods and lose weight slower, in hopes that it will last more than a few months. I have recently discovered that I have (binge eating disorder). Nice that they can put a name on these things. I can be really good for a week and then consume 4-5000 calories in a day. Then I feel like a failure and get depressed. Sometimes I can get back on my program, but most of the time it takes me a week. I have an awesome life here on the Big Island of Hawaii. My husband is very supportive of me going back to school to get a masters in Psychology. We have been happily married for 8 years now and we have no children. Let me know if you think we are a good fit. No worries and no pressure.
  • Hi girls, I am in the same boat. I am the same age (41) and need to lose about 40 lbs to be healthy and where I want. I really need buddies to keep me on track. I sent friend requests. I am in Georgia.

...and me as well! I'm 40, looking to add friends, cheer everyone on and maybe someone to listen to me. Lately I've been chatting to no one and there's no fun in that!

I've added all of you. :-)

I'm not a yo-yo'er, I just lack the motivation sometimes to keep it going to get to my goal. Almost 4 years ago I did WW and dropped 30 lbs and QUICK. I was amazed that I was so driven and so spot on w/ tracking everything! I've managed to keep it off (plus/minus about 5 lbs usually), but had gained 10 lbs since last summer. Come to find out my thryroid all of a sudden was out of whack, but I'm now on medication to regulate it and get back in control. I was eating like mad and ALWAYS hungry, and always craving the worst stuff (pizza, hot wings, fried junk, etc).

I've been enrolled in a boot camp 3x a week for 4 weeks, and tomorrow is the last day. I can't really afford to keep it going, but it's given me a good kick in the butt and helped w/ some loss. I also have dogs that need walking twice a day, so that gives me at least 50-60 minutes of walking every day.

We can do this!! If any of you ever feel like you need to vent, send me a message! We can be our own support group! Let's GO!!

I too have used WW in the past and currently have found MFP and love it. Feel free to add me as it's always nice to share our journeys.
  • Sounds like we are off to a good start! :flowerforyou:
  • Hello everyone, I am new here to MFP, so far so good! Also needing motivation, I'm 53 and now retired, with some health issues,,
I am Diabetic, and do have alot of arthritis going on,, I'm way too young for all this !! I have also been a yoyo diaeter for years and now really tired of it. I was a cook by trade for 27 years and like most,, really love good food. I love this site but I'm having trouble figuring out how to track the exercise, I am useing the treadmill, but when I go to record it theres only one on the search and its telling me that I`m burning 443 calories in 30 minutes,, I don`t think so, my treadmill says I`m burning 154 cal. Can anyone comment on this, am I doing things correctly. From Canada on the East Coast,, Prince Edward Island
