Weight loss at 45.

I'm 45 years old and have been trying to lose 25 pounds but the scales seem to be going the other way. I seem to be be hungry all the time or just craving something all the time. My sedentary job is not helping the situation either. What happened to my will power???
I don't think it's willpower, I think it's nutrients. I've been having greater success since I started eating enormous amounts of vegetables - outrageous amounts of vegetables, and getting some decent nutrition in. I feel differently about the whole deal, I don't crave chocolate or sweets, I don't crave anything. If I feel hungry it is because my stomach is rumbling, not because I just 'feel like i want something.' Bliss.0 -
I have found, as others have commented, that eating right is so much more important in my 40s. I can't exercise quite as hard as I used to, so consistency is really key. I used to eat whatever I wanted and it was only calories that seemed to matter, but a now it is about getting enough protein and low fat to keep my energy up. All good though, as love to exercise once I get my butt moving :-)0

I am over 50 - and refuse to use my age as an excuse (that is just me).
Are you eating enough - and the right foods - for me that means extra protein, lots of vegetables and salads and some healthy fats (nuts, avocado, olives etc) - protein or nuts is the only thing that satiates me when I really get the munchies or are truly hungry...
And exercise / activity - it keeps me healthy - and as a bonus means I can eat a bit more as well.....
^^^^^ This - pay attention to it! If she can do it and I can do it, there is no reason you can't (unless there is - have you checked with a doctor to make sure there is no medical reason going on?). There are so many good tools and so many good people here who will be more than willing to help you get where you want to be - but ultimately, you are in charge of what you are willing to do to get where you want to be.0 -
In the same boat...exactly :ohwell:
I'll continue to work out, but can someone give me suggestions of healthy protein to add to my day?
I use Shakeology daily (http://www.myshakeology.com/DivineEnergyFit) which I think gives me huge amounts of energy, detoxes my body, and really helped me reach my weight loss goal. I also use Eas Soy Protein (http://eas.com/product/soy-protein-powder) which you can get at Walmart pretty cheap. I chose it because it's a soy protein isolate and contains 'only' fructose and not those artificial sweetners. I drink Shakeology for breakfast and the Eas for a snack around 8 pm. Other than that you can eat lean meats like chicken, turkey, I eat also elk or deer, or you can eat fish, beans, nuts, eggs, milk, cheese...0
