Visit one of our water parks.
Indoor things - Science center, museums, etc.
Drive 2 hours up North to Flagstaff.0 -
You can go to the Phoenix zoo and stroll around Papago Park afterward.
Arizona Science Center was a good idea too.
Goldfield ghost town.
Fountain Hills (used to be world's tallest fountain, but now it's like number 3 or 4).
Tubing down the Salt River.
If you want to get out of town and drive farther:
Grand Canyon (pretty far, but a must-see)
Sedona and Slide Rock State Park (natural water slide carved into the red rock. Sedona is a beautiful place).
Tombstone (for a the whole old west experience).0 -
where are you from?? if you're not used to the heat you wont wanna go outside in June0

I live in east Georgia 105 with mega humidity in summer
The average high temps in Georgia in the summer are about 90. Now look at the chart in the middle of this web page, and especially the "monthly normal" temperatures in Phoenix in June, July, and August. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Climate_of_Arizona
Temps of 115 and above are common. Like everyday common. Yes, people from the South and Midwest say, "oh, but it's hot and humid where I live." True, it is. But unless you've experienced that blast-furnace feeling you get when you're outside and it's 117, it's hard to imagine.
Long story short, being outsidein the summer ain't fun. I've lived here for 20 years, and I'm still not used to it. If you're going to be outside, just make sure everybody is wearing plenty of sunscreen and drinking lots of water. Sun and heat-related injuries are common.0 -
i moved to Phoenix from Maryland just outside D.C. its in the 90s and humid in Maryland in the summer. to me that is way worse than 115 in Phoenix.0

I've had friends from the really humid states visit here during the summer, and all say the same thing... that 110+F isn't nearly as bad as 100F w/ humidity. That may be true... I haven't been back East during the summer months, so I can't compare. What I find comical is that the same people who downplay our summer heat, find excuses to stay inside during their vacations here.
Bring oven mitts for driving if you can't park in the shade. :laugh:0 -

Hi !! I would plan your outings in the mornings It will be very hot about noon. If you are from Georgia, it may feel cooler to you since out humidity is about 7% ish. Wear the sun screen, the AZ sun can give the 2nd degree burns in a short period of time. Little kids like the water parks, there is 'Sun Splash' also there is a wet play area at the Phoenix Zoo. So have then wear swim suits under their clothes. Jakes Place is a fun indoor place for kids, it is pricey but it is cool, has slides and climbing activities. ( there is food there too) My Grandkids like the old $15.00 slip and slide in the back yard.. so depends on the kiddo's.. Hope you have a good time here. We all head to the Mtns in the summer as much as possible.. (Payson is 1.5 hours N.E. of Phx, Prescott is 2.0 hours north and of course Flagstaff is much cooler 3 hours N of town, Pinetop is cool like Flagstaff, it is 4 hours NE, there are many lakes and such in this area ) . Remember in this desert, if it says river , lake or stream here that does not mean there is water running, ask a local or call AZ Game and Fish for details. Hope you have a nice time here.0
