Wait a second - MFP calculated WHAT?

Hi all -

I'm 35 lbs down and very happy. In fact, since starting this thing in january, I decided to reclassify myself from "Sedentary" to "lightly active."

So I did so in my settings - and after applying the changes, my daily "allowed" calories went DOWN. Only by 50/day, but they went DOWN.

Wouldn't being "lightly active" indicate a higher calorie burn than "sedentary?"

Can someone 'splain why it's being more restrictive on my newly more active self?

R

Did you happen to change your chosen rate of weight loss at the same time? Were you down a bit from your last update so you were due for a decrease (ie at 9 of 10lbs lost before you'd get prompted to update your settings?) in which case you're seeing a decrease but not as much as it would have been without the extra activity setting

It might have recalculated the calories you burn at your new weight, because you are right changing to a more active lifestyle should give you more not less. Did you change your weeky weight loss goal?

    Oh - interesting point.

I am almost CERTAINLY lower now than I was the last time I recalculated - at least 5lbs and maybe as much as 10-15. I forget when it recalculated last, but my current weight goal remained at 214, just to get out of the WHO's "obese" zone.

I kept the same weekly goal too - 2 lbs/week, staying aggressive for a bit yet.
