All- or- nothing mentality.

I call it the all-or-nothing syndrome. Its when you make a tiny mistake and you just completely give up. All hope is lost. Is anyone else the same way?
Be of good cheer. Whenever you make the tiny mistake just get right back on the horse and keep going. I promise that it will not affect you. Its when you decide, "Well I already screwed up so why don't I eat all of them!" NO! Don't do that. It will make you feel bad about yourself. Just a little tip.

This is a great reminder! I think many many people struggle with this, especially when it comes to food and exercise. It really doesn't make any sense to toss out the rest of a day/week/month just because you made a small mistake. A small mistake can be easily adjusted for and overcome, but an entire day or week or month of just giving up is a bit harder... that's probably how most of us got here to begin with!
If you think of it in terms of money, the all-or-nothing mentality seems even more ridiculous. Just because I make a small mistake (such as having to withdraw money out of an ATM that I didn't plan on and paying some $3 fee), doesn't mean I should then go and spend everything I can/want for the rest of the day/week without worrying about how much I have in the bank! That will lead to some serious overdraft fees and the inability to pay my bills. Having this mentality with food is no less ridiculous... we just need to remind ourselves of that. It's just harder to see the damage right away with food (for the most part) than it is with money.0 -

This certainly hit the nail on the head for me! I am so an all or nothing person. I figure why work out when I have stuffed myself full of crap all day, all week, all month.........0

This is something I struggle with often as well. I just keep telling myself you will much happier with yourself at the end of the day if you just hop back on the train after a mistake instead of completely derailing. You will not ruin your diet by one mistake it is when you allow that mistake to take over that you start to slide downhill.0
