C25K plan constitute as interval training

Would a C25K plan constitute as interval training? It starts off with 3 minutes of walking, followed by one to two mins of jogging, alternating for up to 40 mins.

Also, would you consider Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred as interval training?

I'm looking to start blasting fat now that I am down near my weight goal and am crossing my fingers this stuff will get the job done :)

Yes, any plan that flip flops between walking and running is interval training. A lot of people log 30ds as circuit training. I lost 18lbs in 2 month doing a combo of these two things. Good luck! :)
  • Thanks for the reply!
Last year I dropped 10lbs in one month with her 30DS. I can't wait to add in the jogging then to see what happens now :)

I would agree with the above poster, 30DS is circuit training.

The C25K is a form of interval training at the beginning, but as you continue along the program it becomes just jogging/running. If you are looking to 'blast fat' through interval training, I would suggest doing a interval training with sprints or something with a higher intensity than jogging. The C25K is a great program though if you are looking to start running!!!
  • Great job you guys I amd hoping to be able to lose alot of weight to be healthier for my children.. It gets so hard but Im so ready I have been faithfully walking now just need to get this eating down right...

If you're a beginner runner, you won't be getting up to fast enough speeds to get interval benefits from C25K. Track it as X minutes of running and Y minutes of walking.

    Track 30DS as circuit training.

They're both a great way to improve your fitness and burn calories.

    Yeah - I'm a beginner runner.

Do you know of any good references for interval training?

Interval training is not necessarily HIGH INTENSITY interval training.
