Tracking Food on MFP

Hey everyone,
Just wondering how you all track food that is homemade? I can pretty much control what I make in my own kitchen, but I'm thinking of some non-chain restaurants, or food cooked in a friend or family member's home. I just don't know how to do it other than breaking down the ingredients piece by piece. Any suggestions?
Thanks.

Oh, also - the same goes for exercise programs. I do C25K and Power 90, but specific programs aren't listed, so I try to break them down. I don't know how this affects the accuracy. Any feedback much appreciated.

for food I use the Recipe part you just have to make sure the serving sizes are correct.

I use the recipe tool for dinners I make at home. I love it!

I use the recipe area of food tracking to track my homemade items, in fact I use it for salads too as some days I make enough salad to last a few meals. For the C25K I would lump all the walking together and then all the running together. Otherwise, I would pick the closest exercise or you can get a heart rate monitor and manually input your calories burned. Good luck!

I use the recip tool for meals I make at home, but for smaller restaurants that don't have calorie listngs, I find something very similar. Like I used the listing for Starbuck's Blueberry Oat Bar for a similar berry oat bar at the small cafe on the corner. It's not perfect, but I figure good enough to keep me thinking about what I eat- and it's not daily or anything I eat out.
