I wasn't going to post this but I decided that yes I will because maybe someone else has gone through this and can offer advice. advice needed - woozy
I am hoping someone can help me figure out what to do to get rid of symptoms. I have been T2 for around 6 years and take Metformin 1000mg (not extended release) morning with breakfast and night with food. I've had a strange set of symptoms historically (almost seizure like shaking when I eat food). That part thankfully has…

When your meds take away you appetite...
Do you rejoice? Get angry? Get worried? I've been on an increased dosage of Metformin now for about 5 weeks and still I'm having uncomfortable side effects and have very little appetite. I have MFP set to lose 1.5 pounds a week and honestly, I can barely ever eat to my calorie goal. I usually end up 300-500 calories under…

Metformin-can you cut the pill in half?
Hi guys! I have been having one hell of a time swallowing my Metformin. I've had problems swallowing since I was a child. I've had lots of barium tests done that actually show the area where things get caught up but aside from trying to stretch the esophagus, there isn't much to be done about it besides chewing thoroughly…

It's complicated - extremely high A1C
I lost my job and my insurance in March. I finally got Medicade in June. I had Jardiance (Metformin didn't work for me) through mid-June, but it isn't covered by Medicade. I have an appointment with my doctor on July 17 to discuss what meds are available on Medicade and what would be best to switch to. In preparation for…

"Cheat" Question
Had my first real cheat last night in almost a month, frozen yogurt and popcorn. It taste good but I slept awful. Woke up in a cold sweat and had to change shirts and pull my hair into a ponytail. Is this a reaction to the sugar? If that's the case it's definitely motivation to say no in the future.

I was gone on vacation for a week in Arizona and I'm wondering if anyone has had an experiance like this, I don't know if it was caused by change of altitude or what but it really freaked me out. The first night I was there we went for pizza and was sure my BG was going to be high but an hour after dinner it was 94.the…

Dead Simple Homemade Turkey Jerky
Ok so one of the things I have struggled with is keeping my proteins up whilst keeping my calories and carbs down. One of the biggest helps with this has been eating jerky as a snack. But recently after running out of jerky and sitting down to reorder I started really thinking how much per pound this stuff actually costs…

iPhone glucose app ideas?
Hi, I am using MFP for food tracking and FitBit for exercise. I have been entering my BG numbers into FitBit, but all it really does is track the numbers (not much in the way of nice charts & graphs to help me manage my BG and no integrating my carb intake with my BG readings0. So, I'm wondering if anyone has found a good…

After a long hard fight, I am newly diagnosed.
Hi guys. It's taking a lot of guts for me to write this post. After losing about 80 pounds over the past 5 years to avoid getting diabetes (many relatives on both sides of my family have it), I got the lab results from my doctor the other day and she told me that I am, indeed, a type 2 diabetic. Mind you I haven't had…

Newly diagnosed
A week ago I felt like the Dr handed me a death sentence. They assure me that the medicines and treatment for Diabetes have come along way. I watched both my parents pass away from diabetes related illnesses. My dr put me on Metformin, two pills a day told me I could take them one in am and one at night to help with side…

Testing site on the body
Does it make a difference where you test it? Are the fingers the most accurate location from where to test? For those that test daily or multiple times a day, have you tested on alternate locations and does that change the reading for you? Thanks.

Alternate site testing
After trying a few brands, I like the AccuCheck Compact Plus, which I guess is approved for AST. This brings me to my question: for some reason, my arm test yesterday produced nothing, though I minded my ps and qs the whole time. My mom/diabetes educator says that AST hurts less, which is important to me. Sadly, it really…

Vision
So- I've managed to get my blood sugar down from the 340's to the 140-170 range since the 21st. This weekend was the first time I had it under 200 all day long. My eyes are freaking out! I can see, but I can't read very well- everything is blurry. Long distance is ok, (like to drive, etc) but even reading this computer…

Confused ...
A month ago I went for a complete medical and was told with a fasting blood glucose level of 7.5 and 6.7 on my A1C that I HAVE Type 2 diabetes.
